    That is the challenge of heading south on the welsh side. Even in strongish SW winds you can still make your way south as you are protected by the land mass.

      You are so right, that a succession of south-westerly makes that trip a little bit hard work

    Personally I think coming south to Ballycastle, sailed from Port Ellen down but it took me ages to work out the best time to leave and eventually decided to leave at half tide as it’s about a 6 hour trip from memory, but it’s not easy so I can empathise! Another fine video, thanks.

      Thank you very much for this and I agree wholeheartedly. We made our life a little bit more difficult by trying to go from Gigha to Port Rush, which makes the journey quite a bit longer. That said we were in Port Ellen for the worst of the weather and Gigha for the best of the weather, and I guess we just have to roll with where we were and when we were there
