  • I got my dad to help me taste test the Beyond Burger vs Impossible Burger vs Real Burger! The Beyond Burger and Impossible Burger are two of my favorite vegetarian plant based burgers and to me they both taste like a real beef burger. So I went to Burgerfi to Pick up a real burger and a Beyond Burger then headed to Toasted in Winter Park, Florida to pickup an Impossible Burger so we could do a side by side legit food review of these burgers!
I hope you enjoy my Beyond Burger vs Impossible Burger vs Real Burger and say Hi to my dad in the comments!

I've had the Beyond Burger at TGIF...delicious! I purchased a pack from the local grocery store...my issue is it has more calories than regular beef and sodium is outrageous...I am hopeful that soon those meat substitutes will be better caloric-wise and much less salt.

I don't really like the Beyond Burger because of that funky after taste that lasts for hours. The Impossible Burger is so much better. I haven't had meat in 17 years, but my mom thought it was real meat.

there are 3 locations by my house. and honestly it's how you make it that can really make it believable. the first one I tried they (sadly) fully cook their meat to a crispness. and I could tell it was not meat, but barely. the second place same standard burger just tasted a little more believable. however, the last place that just opened up puts their own sauce and way of cooking and it was basically just a burger. so keep in mind that the taste of it is how it can be made.

There is plenty of intentional murder in farming. What do you think farmers do to rabbits that are eating their crops? They don't let them go into the forest. You inferred in your above post that you don't contribute to animal death. I don't agree with or contribute to the meat industry but I also don't have any delusions that I don't have any blood on my hands simply because I don't eat meat.

I live in Australia and paid $19 for 2 patties of the Beyond Burger. I was so excited to finally try it after seeing so many positive reviews but i have to say it was not to my liking at all. I didnt like the texture or the taste but most of all the aftertaste was so bad it lasted ages. I would very much like to try the Impossible burger but will have to wait until i get to the Usa for that one.. i loved this video

    • @SauceStache
      @SauceStache  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Aww thats a bummer! I think it all depends on your taste. I personally like the beyond burger a lot. I think the impossible is really good and I know LOTS of people that think its the best, but its defiantly all personal opinion. Also the beyond burger really changes depending on how its cooked. So that might have played a factor

Sauce Stache i cooked it at home and thought ok maybe it was me but we have a food chain called Lord of Fries and they started selling it so i gave it another go. Still not for me. However i woukd still try it again in the Usa as the patties I purchased were frozen due to being imported.. i think also our flavours of burgers arw a lityle different here.. so when i eventually get back to the usa will try them both..

I'm vegan. So I've had both the a Beyond Burger and the Impossible Burger. I got the Impossible burger at Top Golf. I was amazed. But I found, just as you stated, that I can't buy it at a grocery store. I love my Beyond Burgers, but I appreciate having the Impossible option when I'm out with my non-vegan friends.

I just ate a Burger King Impossible Whopper for lunch a few hours ago, and I'm having a Del Taco Beyond Meat taco (it's a great time to be a vegetarian!), and my take on it is that the Impossible is more finicky. I like Beyond Meat because it just always tastes good. It's easy to make, and hard to mess up. Impossible Burger can taste great, but more often than not people overcook it. The only time I really loved the Impossible Burger was when it had just come out and the only way you could get it was too make reservations at a place in Beverly Hills. So I did that, and the chef really know what to do with it. I've subsequently eaten it at five other places, all chains of varying quality (from Umami burger to Fatburger to Burger King) and only one did it right - Umami. And even then, they only got it right as part part of a temporary menu where they made them as sliders with different flavors. Those were great, but they're gone now and their regular Impossible burger offering is bland. I wish I could get my hands on some raw Impossible ground. I'd love to experiment with it and perfect cooking it. I'm not going to trust some fry cook earning minimum wage to be encouraged to try. Not that I blame them.

I tried both last weekend (I can't eat the IMPOSSIBLE BURGER bc it's made primarily of WHEAT and I'm a celiac). My daughter (23 also vegan) ordered the impossible burger and was CONVINCED the restaurant had switched it on her and asked me to take a taste and spit it out- I was convinced it was MEAT! While she was snarfing her impossible burger I made a beyond burger -which was very good BUT If you are WFPB not just vegan/vegetarian BOTH have oil in them (which is a no no on a Whole Food plant based diet). I usually eat Sunshine Burgers (no they don't taste like meat but are WFPB no oil, min processing) but would eat the Beyond Burger occasionally. I contacted Impossible Burger and while they are getting ready to release burgers into markets mid 2019 they are also working on a GF burger...so I guess I'll wait -I am jealous for those of you that can eat Impossible Burgers but wish they had less oil (for WFPB eaters).
    Great video!

its the best Ive tried so far. Kind of a weird experience, I thought it smelt chemically before cooking, but once done I tried and thought OMG this tastes like a real beef burger. It really has the taste and texture the same, every now and then I think this is not beef, but I will put up with
that not to stab an animal in the throat. Its an amazing compromise, and things can only can even better from here. All I can say is a new Wow, if this is anything to go by the world will be vegan soon

I still like Loma Linda Redi-Burger myself. I cut patties from the can and freeze them to use as burgers or in casseroles etc. But once my aunt forgot to buy hamburger meat and my brother had asked for meatloaf, so she used one of my cans of Redi-Burger with a skeptical eye. But both she and my brother really liked it. I couldn’t eat it because she put egg in it, but they were happy.

The impossible burger resulted from some clever genetic engineering.
Heme is an iron-containing chemical compound found in humans and other animals in blood hemoglobin and muscle myoglobin (two types of globin proteins that basically envelop the iron-containing heme). It’s the heme in myoglobin that is responsible for some of the taste aspects of dead cow meat. But it’s also found in plants, in particular in leghemoglobin in soybean roots, which is also a globin protein enveloping a heme.
Extracting the leghemoglobin from soy plants would be unrealistic because it would take too much soy. So they inserted the gene that codes for the leghemoglobin protein molecule (coding just means the gene provides the instructions for synthesizing a particular protein) into a yeast cell and then the yeast cells became little factories producing leghemoglobin. This provided the heme that gives the Impossible Burger its meaty taste while no cows were harmed and the impact on land use remained low.
That’s what genetic engineering (or genetic modification) is typically about: inserting a gene from one organism into an appropriate cellular host that then happily goes about producing whatever that gene would produce in the donor organism. There can be risks, but to me (a chemist) this seems to be one of the more benign uses of the procedure. As long as they disclose soy on the label, people with soy allergies can avoid it. One problem with other genetic engineering projects is concern that they could make a safe food unsafe by inserting allergenic genes.

I live in Hawaii. I haven't had the chance to try the impossible burger yet but I did try the beast burger (same company) and the beyond burger. I hated the beast burger. My dad grilled it for a very long time and when I ate it the middle was very undercooked and because it's not the same as the beyond burger (beast burger you have to cook well done) it mostly just tasted like an undercooked gardein patty in the middle, which is disgusting. The parts that did cook just tasted like severely charred way overcooked wheat. I tried again on a skillet a few days later, with the same result. However, the beyond burger, though it does not taste 100% like meat, is meant to be cooked medium rare and tasted very good, and it is the closest one I've had to an actual meat burger.
