I think it’s because of Mr. Allen, the bailiff. I don’t mean to objectify, just stating a fact. I know I’d lose my ability to think and/or string a coherent sentence together lol! However, I have to defend Ms. Gaines she is a brilliant lawyer, I’ve seen her win cases that seem impossible to win. However, when you have a client who is caught on camera committing the crime in question, it is very hard to put on a vigorous defense. Try to come up with some questions you would ask these witnesses or arguments you would make if you had this to work with. It sucks, but every defense attorney has been there were your brain essentially short circuits because you have nothing to work with but every defendant is entitled to vigorous defenses sometimes you are just stammering and buying time, hoping a winning argument will just fall into your lap. You can see why she fought to keep the videos out… but she has to make a record objecting to their admission. Otherwise he can claim ineffective assistance of counsel, which could result in this all coming back on appeal. The ‘ums’ come across as her being extremely uncomfortable, particularly when speaking about the victim’s statement. She seems to be very uncomfortable, that’s when you hear the increase in the number of ums, and you can also hear the manor in which she is speaking regarding bond modification is not with a lot of conviction. Plus, she is making sure to state where each statement is coming from. I don’t think she wants anything to do with the bond modification argument.
Judge Disanto is the worst in my opinion when it comes to the constant "um" ... maybe im more annoyed or noticing it more with her during editing and trying to take out as many ums as i can.. i just finished a video and it was pretty much every other word "um... do you ... um... plead... um... guilty or... um... not guilty" i remember my english teacher grilling us about not saying "um" or "ah" and now i grill my kids about not saying um or ah and like CrystleShadows mentioned... that damn "like" word! Oh yea, and "BRO" .. my kids dont really say it but their friends do and it drives me insane!
The one that got me was the state attorney asking a uniformed cop what he did for a living! A better question would be what police dept do you work for.
There's way more to this than just a DV victim being coerced into protecting her abuser. She knew the defendant for years prior to becoming romantic. IMO, it sounds like the defendant was on bond for felony drug charges meaning he's likely a dealer. I'd be willing to bet she's trying to protect him merely because he's the local supplier to her and their social group. For her to sit there in court and repeat the "I fell, your honor - It was MY fault, your honor" after watching video clearly depicting her being shoved, grabbed, and hit multiple times is pathetic.
What is she supposed to do? She's very aware that if she doesn't, she's really going to get it when he gets out..and he may just target their children next time to punish her.
@@amandaadkins799 Thank you v. much for pointing this out. It's called Victim's Algebra. She is trying to weigh up what will cause her loved ones and herself the least abuse in the long term Making the judge angry isn't going to hurt her children. Making statements against the abuser in court...that WILL hurt her children and her. He is not going to be in custody for the rest of his life. He's not even going to be in custody for a year. He is already pre-disposed to attacking her. Every day he's in jail, he's blaming HER. Not the bar, not the bouncers, certainly not himself. What's more, she knows that HE knows that her most vulnerable spot is her children. She is thinking ahead to when he gets out and what she has to do NOW to try to appease him from terrorizing her children. Abusers always get out of jail or prison. From the second the abuser is arrested, the victim is even more terrified. They torture and kill your pets, they terrorize your entire family, and your work place, they abuse your children. They make your landlord and your employer ask you to leave because they cannot handle the problems the abuser causes. What she is trying to do...appease him, in advance, it won't work. But it is the only thing she can think of to do. The law isn't going to protect her. Not in the long run. A guy like this, he'll go after her forever. I left my husband shortly after we had a child. Because I needed to protect my child from him. He's was starting to do the same things to her as he did to me. I moved across an ocean, to the other side of the world. That was 20 years ago. He is STILL stalking both of us. STILL. He even remarried and had another child. But he STILL is after us. However, Judge Simpson is a very smart man. I am SURE he understands what this woman is doing, and that is part of the reason he spends to much time speaking as though he is addressing her, but he really isn't. And what he does is to reiterate her lies to help the abuser and then say, "but I can see from the video that you are lying ". So he is making sure the abuser hears him saying to the victim, "you tried your best to lie for this arse ache, but I'm guided by the video, not what you say, " He is a great judge.
She was definitely hard to listen to or even follow. I hope she practices scripts more, or does her brainstorming before trial. I really dislike the Holmes style questioning. You're not Perry Mason, woman. 😅😂😂
If he will do that to the mother, what the hell does he do to the kids? And the victom not only wants his phone privilages restored, but the case dropped too? I spent my early childhood being raised by my paraents, my father was a true monster. A Vilent mind twisting creature who blamed everyone else for his actions. I wish someone like Judge Simpson had been involoved, perhaps my mother would still be alive. My grandparents raised me and my two siblings after that point, but even more then 30 years later it still haunts me. I'm glade the Judge knows right from wrong, I hope the defendant rots in jail.
It's sad this woman is so use to being abused either from this guy or from her past that she doesn't even see the abuse anymore. He's gotten her to believe this is her fault and he's not an abuser. This is classic victim blaming. Guaranteed he's said all of these things to her: "Babe, I love you. If you would have left me alone this wouldn't have ever happened" or "look what you did to me. I wouldn't be in trouble had you have not push me to this point" etc etc
Yeah, she sucked. The questions she had for the witnesses were not articulated well nor were they printed off. She brought her laptop up to the podium. The difference between her performance and the prosecutors were night and day. She looks like she's quite a bit older than the other lawyer. Maybe she started law school late or she is just an unprepared lawyer who underperfoms and charges accordingly.

How would she have an accurate recall of what happened that night, she was so drunk that she pissed herself, you can see the huge wet spot on her right buttocks. Some people are just so afraid of being alone that they will endure the most degrading and abusive treatment from another person, it really is sad. 30:37 I’ll translate for this awful communicating attorney “Your Honor I object to the video being added as evidence.” Judge: “Why?” Attorney: “Ummm because it’s terrible for my case.”
I love how Judge Simpson’s face has no inside voice!!!Idk why his attorney thought it was a good idea to get up and read that nonsense the victim wrote. Obviously this woman is too far gone to see she’s a victim. She literally said how it’s her fault for grabbing on him when she literally didn’t touch him it was all him punching her like a man and pushing her. She needs serious therapy so she can figure out why she’s ok with being beat on!!!
You nailed it with, " Judge Simpson's face has no inside voice!!!" From the first cross examination, his body language indicates he's not buying any part of the poorly laid defense.
I have a “hunch” that after this testimony the State Attorneys office may call her to the stand during his actual trial for this part and tear her to shreds for the lies. Maybe she will still see contempt. Her giving a statement was pure stupidity on the public defender and the prosecutor was smiling.

Judge is soo right, we woman have to be strong and i know it can be very scary, but please get out of any relationships that's like this.i know, i was in one, but it took me to see my dad getting attacked by him that made me get out.
Judge Simpson and the men at the bar care more about protecting that woman than she does herself. I feel bad for domestic violence victims, men and women, but this would be the time she can get away. She's choosing instead to defend him and try to get him out. I hope she gets the help she needs.
56:25 I hope her family is watching this and getting her the help she needs. Using the kids as an excuse that he should be let go is a clear sign of child abuse. He's a danger to her and if he's a danger to her he's a danger to their kids. Is this the man you want as an example for your kids. CPA needs to get involved.
Am i seeing his date repeatedly going back to him after hes hitting her? And then following him off like a puppy? Like there nowhere else to go and she doesnt mind being abused?
Every person assigned to be defended by this ‘defense attorney’ should take note of how absurd she is, how ineffective she is, and beg the courts to appoint different counsel. I would be HORRIFIED if this attorney were assigned to represent me. May as well beg the State for ANY offer and agree to it no matter what. Defense atty: “…would I be correct in saying…” Also…did this poor woman wet herself!? I feel such secondhand embarrassment for her. Not only bc she peed her pants, but mostly because she can’t even see how awful her guy is or that she is of more worth and/or value than she’s being treated with. The bare minimum she should demand is that he keep his damned hands to himself. Judge Simpson (per his usual awesomeness) “…that’d be a NOOOOO…!” 😂😂😂😂😂
Ladies, if he needs space, let him go and he will come back when he's ready and then sit down and talk about get treatment for your addictions as it's ruining your relationship.
He told her it's HER fault he is in there, he blamed her for the contempt, told her to get him out of this and called her 200 times, while calling his children none.

This defense attorney might want to take some refresher courses in law. Haha what a joke she was. And the states attorney was like "here we go again " 😂😂
Judge was angry at the defense attorney because she knew what was on the video very clearly showing what this coward did, and yet she calls the victim to testify to what is a lie. Knowing that the defense attorney should have never called the victim up to lie to the court, and that is why he was livid about what this defense attorney tried to pull.
Ok, I know they have to do this for procedural purposes, but I will never be able to not laugh when.... 1. You call a witness by referring to them as "officer" 2. He gets up on the stand in full uniform with "POLICE" in all caps across his chest 3. The first question is "Can you tell me what you do for a living?" 😆
I love Honorable Judge Simpson I could chill out watch him all day!; Awesome character personality fairness for all situations of cases as well all human beings big plus is his great patience!!! Fun enjoyable to watch!! ☺️☺️💖
The defense attorney got her law degree from Tony's School of Lawyers. I couldn't follow anything she said. She just belabored the point with nonsense. How Judge Simpson figured his way around her nonsensical objections and backwards explanations is a mystery to me. Good on 'em. I'd love to hear her explanation as to how to hard boil an egg. 😂😂
I like when the cop asks the defense attorney if she would like him to describe what he saw on the video and she immediately says “no”. If your client is innocent wouldn’t you want everyone to look at the video. Kind of telling.

You Go Judge! Women that put up with this behavior need to have therapy for their self esteem.
Agreed! They need help getting out of the space they have been manipulated into! I wish they all knew they matter and its not their fault!!
Defence needs to take lessons on clearly articulating to the court what she is thinking.
why can't these lawyers string a few sentences togethr without keep saying 'um' it is so annoying!
Omg I thought I was the only one, it drives me absolutely crazy 🤪when they keep adding filler words, “um, eh, uh & the word like” etc There are so many more 🤔🤦♀️
I think it’s because of Mr.
They have to be careful and measured with their words because if they appeal whatever the question says could be the difference
It seems like the defense attorney doesn't know the answers to her own questions, which I'm pretty sure is a no-no.
That is a true victims mentality shes portraying. Shes scared you can tell she has been coaxed and terrified!
@@christinasmith6698 by the attorney and his family.
Guys a creep and she needs her head examined for sticking up for him.
What is she supposed to do? She's very aware that if she doesn't, she's really going to get it when he gets out..and he may just target their children next time to punish her.
@@amandaadkins799DV is underrated,I agree with what you’re saying,it probably happens a lot behind closed doors too 🤷♀️

So he is making sure the abuser hears him saying to the victim, "you tried your best to lie for this arse ache, but I'm guided by the video, not what you say, "
He is a great judge.
The defense attorney is not one of the great legal minds of our time.
Or of ANY Time!!
OMG! I thought she would never shut up about the video, flower and what ever else she said about it, my mind went numb.
She was definitely hard to listen to or even follow. I hope she practices scripts more, or does her brainstorming before trial. I really dislike the Holmes style questioning. You're not Perry Mason, woman. 😅😂😂
I’m so confused by her. Her intentions are good but her arguments don’t make sense
She had to put up a fight (or at least appear to) in order to make sure he couldn't call for a mistrial.
Judge Simpson slurping his drink while the defence attorney mumbles on… 😂😂😂😂👌
If he will do that to the mother, what the hell does he do to the kids? And the victom not only wants his phone privilages restored, but the case dropped too? I spent my early childhood being raised by my paraents, my father was a true monster. A Vilent mind twisting creature who blamed everyone else for his actions. I wish someone like Judge Simpson had been involoved, perhaps my mother would still be alive. My grandparents raised me and my two siblings after that point, but even more then 30 years later it still haunts me. I'm glade the Judge knows right from wrong, I hope the defendant rots in jail.
Thank you, Judge, for doling out appropriate justice.
WTF is up with defense attorney? Did she actually go to law school?!?! Is this what we’re turning out now?!?! Shame!!
Tbf she had a terrible case to defend, no possible defence. She was just trying anything
The crime was recorded on camera, so she had nothing else to work with. How would you try to defend him if he was your client?
Yeah, she sucked. The questions she had for the witnesses were not articulated well nor were they printed off. She brought her laptop up to the podium. The difference between her performance and the prosecutors were night and day. She looks like she's quite a bit older than the other lawyer. Maybe she started law school late or she is just an unprepared lawyer who underperfoms and charges accordingly.
You know when Judge Simpson is moving his chair back and forth, you in trouble!
How wonderful is Judge Simpson. When he upped this thing's bond, it actually made me weep a bit. Bloody brilliant.
I love Judge Simpson. 😊
I’m Glad To See How Those Guards TRIED To Keep Her From Going With Him.. But When A Woman’s Self-Esteem IS SO LOW!! THAT SHE WANTS TO GO WITH SUCH A POS!!!

Those guards were trying so hard to keep him away from her and she basically ignored them. They formed a barrier around her to keep him away and did everything they could to stop this from happening. I give them a lot of credit
@@Boyso5407 ya. My point exactly. They tried. All they cld do they tried

What a horrible defense attorney😂
I've been looking for this, I have only seen the victims statement during the motion to reduce bond, and someone else included the CCTV video , it gets frustrating only catching parts of these sometimes... Thanks for sharing. I'm definitely subscribing!!
They are both parenting children who will live with watching parents hit each other. If sons, this is how dad handles someone he lives. If daugters, this is how men show love and how women allow it.😢
How would she have an accurate recall of what happened that night, she was so drunk that she pissed herself, you can see the huge wet spot on her right buttocks. Some people are just so afraid of being alone that they will endure the most degrading and abusive treatment from another person, it really is sad. Let those of us who are in healthy and loving relationships be grateful.
I figured her pants were wet from where he pushed her down onto the ground (the pavement looked wet to me).
The next time you see this victim she will be on a cold slab and he will be charged with murder!
There is NO EXCUSE!
GO JUDGE SIMPSON!!! As a DV survivor, THANK YOU SIR, for how you handled this!!! She is a victim in denial, which is very common, especially if he is still calling her! That is called control, he has control over her!!! He needs help!!! 🇺🇸🙏🇺🇸
"I tripped", no you are gaslighted young lady.
30:37 I’ll translate for this awful communicating attorney “Your Honor I object to the video being added as evidence.” Judge: “Why?” Attorney: “Ummm because it’s terrible for my case.”
I’m about half way through this video and the defense lawyer is awful. Not a good litigator…not articulate AT ALL
This defense attorney cannot complete a single thought or phrase. This is like pulling teeth
No. There is nothing more to be explained. The man pushes, shoves, punches her and she still defends him. It is sad to witness.
He called her over 200 times but I wonder how many times he called his child?!
Thanks to trial being posted on social media, I’m afraid the defense attorney might be losing further clients.
He should hold her in contempt for stating lies to the court.
I have a “hunch” that after this testimony the State Attorneys office may call her to the stand during his actual trial for this part and tear her to shreds for the lies. Maybe she will still see contempt. Her giving a statement was pure stupidity on the public defender and the prosecutor was smiling.
Judge Simpson and the public see this all the time , women accused man then goes back on it it’s the circle of domestic abuse and judge Simpson is well aware … love this judge and his compassion and common sense . Thank you judge
Love this judge all day long❤
Thank you Judge Simpson for getting her straightened out. I’ve been where she is. Been by myself for 23 years. Love it. You are a wonderful and great Judge. Stay well and safe. 🤩
Judge is soo right, we woman have to be strong and i know it can be very scary, but please get out of any relationships that's like this.i know, i was in one, but it took me to see my dad getting attacked by him that made me get out.
@@susanengel-ix8bl just a tip, woman is singular/one woman and women is plural which is more than one....
Typical battered woman response…”it’s my fault”.
That defense attorney needs to get her thoughts down correctly before she speaks… she’s all over the map… she doesn’t seem very smart.
I wouldn't be surprised if the rest of her family is like that or they have washed their hands of her.
Defense atty: “…would I be correct in saying…”
Also…did this poor woman wet herself!? I feel such secondhand embarrassment for her. Not only bc she peed her pants, but mostly because she can’t even see how awful her guy is or that she is of more worth and/or value than she’s being treated with. The bare minimum she should demand is that he keep his damned hands to himself.
Judge Simpson (per his usual awesomeness) “…that’d be a NOOOOO…!” 😂😂😂😂😂
Thank you, Judge Simpson for standing up and calling it what it was! And Go Terps!
Well I CERTAINLY Wasn’t Expecting ALL That! - No Wonder The DESPERATE TRY AT KEEPING THE VIDEO OUT!!
Ladies, if he needs space, let him go and he will come back when he's ready and then sit down and talk about get treatment for your addictions as it's ruining your relationship.
The defense attorney is not the brightest bulb in the pack 🤦🏻♀️. She hasn't got a clue 🥴.
He told her it's HER fault he is in there, he blamed her for the contempt, told her to get him out of this and called her 200 times, while calling his children none.
Judge Simpson is 1 of the best and most legitimately caring yet realistic jurists sitting on the bench in Michigan.
Time and time again. And the epitaphs always say: beloved mother, daughter, sister - get free ma’am while you still have breath
So, she’s just teaching her children that’s it ok for someone to lay hands? Good job
I love you Judge Simpson. Giving him a higher bond and keeping other women safe.
That defense attorney is passing me off! I get she has a job to do, but to imply that a guy fully punches her in the face and the injury she has to her face is from some other incident?!
OMG The defense attorney !!!! Do I need to say more?
This defense attorney might want to take some refresher courses in law. Haha what a joke she was. And the states attorney was like "here we go again " 😂😂
We need more Judge Simpsons on Earth.
know everybody's entitled to a defense but I'll never understand women lawyers who defend women beaters
Good job, Judge!
Good job, Judge
Judge was angry at the defense attorney because she knew what was on the video very clearly showing what this coward did, and yet she calls the victim to testify to what is a lie. Knowing that the defense attorney should have never called the victim up to lie to the court, and that is why he was livid about what this defense attorney tried to pull.
He basically said if your not gonna save yourself , I’ll at least try
Defense attorney is the best player on the prosecution team 😅😅😅
Those kids aren't safe with her.
This woman needs professional help and I'm guessing her kids will too.
Also, the defense attorney is insufferable.
Wow it seems like she was begging for it She needs help this is awful to watch
Ok, I know they have to do this for procedural purposes, but I will never be able to not laugh when....
1. You call a witness by referring to them as "officer"
2. He gets up on the stand in full uniform with "POLICE" in all caps across his chest
3. The first question is "Can you tell me what you do for a living?" 😆
What a brilliant judge
I love Judge Simpson. He and the security guards may be the only ones who care about that poor, abused woman.
She needs help. I feel for her, and I hope she opens her eyes soon. It's a terrible way to live.
I love Honorable Judge Simpson I could chill out watch him all day!; Awesome character personality fairness for all situations of cases as well all human beings big plus is his great patience!!! Fun enjoyable to watch!! ☺️☺️💖

She is living in a world called DENIAL. BIG TIME. 🤬
OMG, how did defense attorney graduate law school!!!
She's incompetent
Exactly!
I think she just graduated the day before 🤷🏻♀️🤦♀️🙄
She passed the bar on the way to court, but it was closed.
This is a check box entrance into law school person instead of by grades and merit.
Maybe a Cracker Jack Box!
@@kimbrunko5069 Well said!!
I like when the cop asks the defense attorney if she would like him to describe what he saw on the video and she immediately says “no”. If your client is innocent wouldn’t you want everyone to look at the video. Kind of telling.

Wait a second. Are these defense lawyers getting stupider?
Good Man That Judge Simpson.
