Also found bedroll on back side of dam, coming from PV to Mystery, still outside because it was in area just outside back in the stack of metal pipes.. I am enjoying the new loot areas.. seems like a lot of small places u don't normally go have good loot now.

So does this mean you’ll try Outerloper Marksman next? I imagine you’d ace that lol. Love the long videos by the way, I always have them on in the background when I’m writing.
I got an idea for my new challenge I wanna present 😃this challenge will be both easier and harder than most interloper challenges, this one will be all about limited ammo, we know that with using guns we have to collect shell casings and build ammo for them using a workshop if we run out what if that became the entire goal of the run from beginning to end Can you beat interloper 500 days with guns enabled by only using guns (the rule is any large game such as deer or wolves you kill has to be done with guns no bows allowed) this run would prioritize a lot of picking up shell casings and unlocking ammo workshops and finding Ingredients for ammo crafting
i did a run in interloper no sleeping indoors or in caves u have to sleep or rest in the outdoors only but u can loot all just no resting indoors or caves and every zones has places to say with fire all night the trick is finding them. i made 6 months then quit. so far my fav. way to play is custom i start on interloper then turn down all health recovery to low all animals on low spawn with low respawn with guns but u use to have it on med loot for the gun cleaning kit now u can put it on low loot and still find the gun cleaning kit
Just an idea for a future video. Either just from your personal moments or from around the community but a compilation of "stim moments". Times when one had to use a stim to survive, for fun or whatever reason. Would be fun to watch!
Wow 185 comments. It is strange that all the views and there only 700 or so likes. I was gonna read before I posted but that is a lot. I haven't gotten thru this video yet or the next one but I'll put my two cents in now. Ravine transition to mystery lake cave is a good place for a base cause it's safe with just deer and rabbits. Appreciate all u do Zak, have learned lots from u. Still play on voyager myself but I'm shooting for loper. Gonna skip stalker I think.

1:54:50 I get the balance between realism and game entertainment, but some things just don't make sense to me, like if we got rocks, why can't we flintnap arrowheads? Why can't we just use flint and steel as firestarter or better yet just use stick technique? We have so many cattails yet we can't build a firebundle to preserve a fire ember over long distance walks? But than again maybe I'm overthinking past the simple fact that this is a catastrophe scenario and our characters are just simple ppl not Les Strond or sth
Dear Zak - Is it true that if you sleep just one hour that will save your game so you can quit out to the real world when necessary. I am playing Pilgrim now to familiarize myself with the Regions, having fun and learning. PS By the way - I think the in-game charcoal map works off the same angle that you will see on KAI'S cluster of maps showing Great Bear Island's orientation to the cardinal points. Thats why the Church at Thompson's Crossing seemed to be in the wrong place according to your game map around 3:25:17. Thanks so much for all your great info.
The difference between stalker and interloper is to big. I am not good to play interloper, but stalker is to easy. Day 80 and have bow 80kg of bear met, guns and rifles and only visited ML, PV and Mountain town
@@AmplifyChris 100 % agree, my friend. That's why I typically play a custom Stalker game. Start with stalker, ramp up the damage from wildlife, set the amount of wildlife to the max, that can smell you a MILE away, are VERY aggressive, that can spawn VERY close (why I never play with music on. Even with the music off, the number of times I've heard the rustling of lil paws just too late and got jumped by a wolf, only to fight that off and have one of his pals waiting to take a nibble at me straight after...), I reduce the amount of loot available, make the weather shockingly bad, very changeable, VERY cold, frequent blizzards etc... although not as punishing as 'Loper, you can create quite a challenging setup. I have 3300+ hours playtime and this is where I settled in my runs. I HAVE done a 100 day 'Loper run (just to show that I could), but every day was a pain in the you-know-what and it ended with me freezing to death in FM.
Huh. I'd prolly have a "you can loot it but you can only be indoors only long enough to DO the looting." rule. so no SLEEPING indoors, or crafting etc. but you can peek in and nab stuff.
U seem to know much about things here so I'll ask u, are the devs thinking of a long dark 2? Maybe develop a bit like the infinite cups and water bottles and make things a bit more realistic. Or even just a different game with these mechanics? This game is just so awesome and I think more can be done.

So does this mean you’ll try Outerloper Marksman next? I imagine you’d ace that lol. Love the long videos by the way, I always have them on in the background when I’m writing.
Thank you! I dont think I will do marksman, though - I like being able to miss hehe.
@@Zaknafein that’s so fair. I too love taking pot shots at bears from across the map 😂
What is Outerloper Marksman? Never heard that before. Sounds interesting.
@@amywhitter5096 It is basically the same as this challenge, but the "Marksman" addition means you have to have 100% bow accuracy after 50 shots.
@@Zaknafein what a pressure. So if you miss the deer then, you have to give the run up? Doesn´t sound so fun after all...
Great video you're a mad man lol but I get it you have to find ways to challenge yourself
I got an idea for my new challenge I wanna present 😃this challenge will be both easier and harder than most interloper challenges, this one will be all about limited ammo, we know that with using guns we have to collect shell casings and build ammo for them using a workshop if we run out what if that became the entire goal of the run from beginning to end
Can you beat interloper 500 days with guns enabled by only using guns
(the rule is any large game such as deer or wolves you kill has to be done with guns no bows allowed) this run would prioritize a lot of picking up shell casings and unlocking ammo workshops and finding Ingredients for ammo crafting
Is it even possible to turn ammo off but still have casings and gunpowder stuff spawn?
@@Moz29 If guns are enabled on Interloper, ammo and shell casings spawn in normal locations just like 90% less frequently
@@Raccoon12008 before update I found a tonne of ammo even on loper loot settings. Hopefully they changed that.
you're crazy!!!!
i did a run in interloper no sleeping indoors or in caves u have to sleep or rest in the outdoors only but u can loot all just no resting indoors or caves and every zones has places to say with fire all night the trick is finding them. i made 6 months then quit. so far my fav. way to play is custom i start on interloper then turn down all health recovery to low all animals on low spawn with low respawn with guns but u use to have it on med loot for the gun cleaning kit now u can put it on low loot and still find the gun cleaning kit
Just an idea for a future video. Either just from your personal moments or from around the community but a compilation of "stim moments". Times when one had to use a stim to survive, for fun or whatever reason. Would be fun to watch!
Could be good. There are a few of them in the "Close Calls" compilation already :)
That’s call the Olympic torch.
There might be a hammer outside the Mountaineer's Hut in the boat
Oh yeah. I did know that, but forgot to check, but didnt have an opportunity anyway due to the aurora wolves.
The hammer in twm can also spawn in the fishing hut on crystal lake
3:22:46 Its not a tea circle, just a very happy fire :)
Hey Zak,
Always a pleassure top watch your videos. For the wind....
If you go backwards against the wind you walk faster. I have to test this again... But I'm pretty shure ;)
I think it is walking sideways, but you could be right. Never tested it :) Let me know if you do.
Five seconds of warmth is like a minute in game time.
Love it !
if you have 1kg of meat on the rabbit, it's better to do it 2x 0.5. This way you can cook it twice faster (in case of storm)
You’re a mad man. I can’t imagine trying this myself! Well done. One thing I would like to mention though is the bitrate of this video seems lower than normal? Just not as sharp as usual.
Thank you. I usually record 1440p, but s few videos lately were 1080p, since the thats what the ingame resolution was. Also saves space as the vids take dozens of GB. I will evaluate and see if I turn it back up, though :)
It’s not bad or anything, and yes footage takes a lot of disk space. Anyway great video, you make it look very easy!
After this video i had the courage to loot BI
I have 212 hours and 20 minutes in The Long Dark so far, and I only now learned about checking Sun Visors in cars!?
To be fair though, up until this video I haven't watched any Playthrough or tips videos or anything. Just got a few essential tips from my chat on how to not freeze to death.
Hey PastorDave. Visors have always been in the game, but they only added loot to them in December 2022, so it is very recent. Hope your streams are going well!
@@Zaknafein Well I don't feel quite so bad then, but I can't help wondering what I might have missed lol.
I have 2 locations left on my NOMAD run, so I'm getting close! I have learned so much about the maps, which is why I picked nomad for my first challenge run. Also, 91 days before I found a rifle, oof!
Keep watching Zak and you will learn more than you ever imagined! I have been playing this game forever, and I find it appalling how much I still didn't know! LOL
Outdoor workbench: Milton Paradise farm in the barn. Also has a fire barrel. Maybe it counts as indoors?
No that one should be fine as outdoors :)
Big bonus is you're not wolfproof in there 😉
Interesting challenge
Dear Zak - Is it true that if you sleep just one hour that will save your game so you can quit out to the real world when necessary. I am playing Pilgrim now to familiarize myself with the Regions, having fun and learning.
PS By the way - I think the in-game charcoal map works off the same angle that you will see on KAI'S cluster of maps showing Great Bear Island's orientation to the cardinal points.
Thats why the Church at Thompson's Crossing seemed to be in the wrong place according to your game map around 3:25:17. Thanks so much for all your great info.
Yes you can sleep one hour, or pass time for one hour. Thank you :)
the premises for these long form videos are so intresting! i just wish they were split into more manageable bitesize chunks
Therefore you have the timestamps
Open it in a new tab, pin it if you like. Then come back to it whenever you like.
Most of the transition mines also have workbenches.
Oh I got to see this
amazing!!!!
I don't know if he checks the cache yet, but he left the key in the truck visor
I’ve had two or three runs end by failing to make a campfire during a wolf encounter.
52:20 Timber wolf climbs a tree :)
If it's a memento cache remember to also pick up the KEY!
1:11:18... why I don't play Interloper. For me, there's nothing "fun" about Interloper. Although, clearly, I enjoy watching good 'Loper players.
I HAVE done a 100 day 'Loper run (just to show that I could), but every day was a pain in the you-know-what and it ended with me freezing to death in FM.
cabin fever does not matter, warming bonus does.
Yes, but a good rule is that IF an area can give you cabin fever, it also has a warmth bonus. Effectively they are the same, though.
@@Zaknafein I don't know exactly, but what if there are places with warmth bonus, but no cabin fever ? What about something like DP church ?
@@spinningbullet9136 That place is like a cave, also with warmth bonus. I'd say it counts :)
@@Zaknafein we should ask PerfectTrip
Huh. I'd prolly have a "you can loot it but you can only be indoors only long enough to DO the looting." rule. so no SLEEPING indoors, or crafting etc. but you can peek in and nab stuff.
This is a perfectly acceptable variant of this challenge. People should twist the rules however they see fit :)
Watched so many hours of your vids lately, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen you die. How about a compilation video of Zak’s (rare) deaths?
Haha could do. It does happen.
U seem to know much about things here so I'll ask u, are the devs thinking of a long dark 2? Maybe develop a bit like the infinite cups and water bottles and make things a bit more realistic. Or even just a different game with these mechanics? This game is just so awesome and I think more can be done.
They have thought about it and have other games in development using Unreal 5. We don't know what it is about, though, so have to see.
Very interesting.
Snow shelter time!
Good idea, but with hardly any cloth outdoors, it would be expensive to build :)
