Hey man, Colton from Utah here. I just stumbled across your TH-cam channel and I’m soo very inspired. 1. congratulations on the success you are having right now. It looks like you are really building that legacy that you mentioned. (condolences about your brother RIP) 2. Pertaining to this video and the information that you have about people hitting you up for help and guidance. I think you have given more in this video about how to build a business in leather crafting. It’s like you stated in that nobody owes you anything in life and with that, I think I seen that you have 400videos (also congratulations on the 1milli views) I might be wrong about how many vids you have BUT that is so much useful knowledge that you are giving people for free! I have only seen this vid and I’m pumped to see the journey that you’ve been on. I could see myself hitting you up for “help with tooling” again like you said, you could watch a thousand videos but until you go through the process of tooling is the only real way of getting better at it. I also am new to crafting and although I won’t hit you up soon. I will reach out to you one day and be happy to share my progress and give you the appreciation of guiding me along the way. Early thanks for that 👍 3. I’m excited to now be following you and the work you do, I hope to be able to own a belt that you have made and put it in my collection.
To sum this up my name is colt45
And thank you for allowing me to be apart of the journey. Not sure when, I’ll be in contact sometime in the future. God bless man!

You cant learn unless you make mistakes. I have a bin of shame but it taught me so much.

The bin of shame encompasses the whole house at this point. ...and it has spilled over into the homes of friends and family. From having poorly made leather goods forced upon them for so long. I think I ruined some of them with bad gifts so they don't even want to look at things I make now that are actually pretty good. Haaa!

School of hard knocks takes time and there are so many branches to the work you do. Time goes fast and time is so precious!. There is a difference between art and craft. As a craftsman covering mistake is second to not making mistakes. Very good episode!

That you even took the time to make this video says a lot about your humanity. You're a good dude. But I'm with the kid...I LOVE watching you work and the work you produce. I'm an older dude and definitely NOT an artist, but I'm really in awe of those who are. Keep it up, Man in Black, Ima need to be seeing your work for a long while!

Man I appreciate this brotha. People don’t understand that I’m not here to put on some kind of holier than thou- I’m better than you so follow me vibe. I’m just a dude talking to someone looking for advice. And I’m just giving the advice that I think people need

Excellent video. I'm 50, disabled veteran and stumbled on leather stuff by mistake as a mental health thing. I got demons and they are quiet when I'm doing stuff. Been at it fairly steady for a couple years and I struggle struggle with some of it. I also had a take business several years ago and did TH-cam videos with that. Both are so so hard. Passion, is what I feel missing in the message you shared. I am in a unique place because I do get disability money from the va to eat. So I can make and fail a bunch before I go hungry. The thing I struggle with sometimes, and what I think is important, is patience. Make stuff, a lot and fail a bunch. Follow your own path. I think that's the best advice.

Bad ass! Don’t be afraid to sell stuff if you get handy enough! It’s fun, it’s definitely just not an ideal career unless you are psychotic about it/ you are personally attached to it/ or you are crazy passionate about it

Good advice. I did two things and I think I could do this. Now if you did those two things absolutely perfect for a stranger says oh where did you buy this. Then move on to a third and fourth

A 60 second talking head video can take the better part of an hour to produce if done in any fashion that is not shoot as you go/ tic-toc style. It can be self taught if you are willing to invest hours and hours of practice and failure. I do that work and also am learning leather work... how many miles of hand sewing does one have to do to be an expert at it? Most people will never really make any money at leather work without a couple years effort first. And the guy who wrote you is like so many looking for the free lunch.

Here’s a wake-up call. Walk out your door, stop halfway around the block, and then decide how to create a hobby or career related to something you’re
passionate about. You know the topic, but that’s all. Have you ever engaged in an activity without obtaining advice or developing a personal opinion about it? You weren’t born knowing how to cut a piece of leather; take the words “I” and “Me” out of your vocabulary.

I did my own research and used the resources available to me, and everyone else on the internet
Maybe you’re not passionate enough to figure it out on your own and put in trial and error hours🤷‍♂️
Are you suggesting I start talking in the 3rd person?
      Thats pretty bad ass tbh
