    Thank you
    Hi
This car came to me wit not working reversing lights.
The car had a short circuit on the system, that was resolved, but still no reversing lights.
So, what happened was, that the ignition was cycled more that 50 times with the short circuit present, so the FRM module (the module that controls all the lights in the car), disabled the circuit, in order to prevent any further damage.
Theoretically that means the module needs replacing, although using BMW tools, we can reset the short circuit count, enabling the module to turn on the circuit again.
That is what I am going to show you in this video.
In order to perform this, you need BMW tools installed, including Toolset32.
    Hope you enjoy the video.
    Any questions put them below.
Like always, thank you for watching!

Connected the interior lights to the angel eyes to get the welcome home lights on my FRM1. The canbus leds were using too much power which triggered the shortcircuit counter. Now I removed the resistors from the leds. Thank you very much from Netherlands!

If the light is actually working, check bulb and connections... bulb contact points... poor contact might allow the light to work, but will not allow the module to test correctly... alternatively, you can disable the bulb check...😉

It is a recent purchase, haven't used it that many times...
But, it is good depending on the problem you are trying to find...
I haven't used yet to find shorts or open circuits... but have used to trace a wire.... that was very handy, as helped me finding where was going without taking any panels inside the car... handy when you don't have wiring diagrams...
Bottom of line, I wouldn't pay the full selling price, I think is a bit expensive.
I got second hand, and for half of the price of a new one...
I might do a video for it if the opportunity arises...
      Hope that helps...

      Hi
No... a buld out would be an open circuit... not a short...
This is for when there is a short on the circuit... no prevention really, just repair when you have a short circuit...

If the lights on the rear body are not working, then might be something else... the most common problem is the wires that run from the car to the boot lid, tend to brake, as per the video...
but if you have nothing working...
Measure the wires from the rear of the car to the light module... and go from there...

My reverse lights are off and PDC comes on almost flickering on the idrive and goes away. Ive read that manual trans have that switch which feeds in FRM but have read conflicting review on how the auto trans transmits the R signal. All FRM related items work and all trans related items work so im guessing theres a loose wire of loose ground? Any advice?

      Hi
I might be wrong... so don't quote me on this... as i haven't checked... but I would say on an Auto, that information is transmitted via CAN network from the transmission control unit.
Check live data, and see exactly what is going on...
That would be my first step...

Hi, I have a problem with BMW X3 E83 2.5i 2004 drivers side low beam not working and I'm kindly asking for your help.
I changed my original headlights to Angle lights and only the driver's side Low beam has stopped working. I tried changing the bulbs but still, it didn't work I have also swapped the headlight units from left to right and realised the problem lies on the right-hand side as both lights only work on the passenger's side.

Hi @LMAutoRepairs and thanks for this video. I'm unsure on what I'm about to ask and I noticed that some of the comments already addressed this, but I felt it was not the answer I was looking for. So here it goes: Does the Locked FRM behaviour also makes the buzz alarm trigger every 20 seconds? (in my personal case it was the window elevator cable that got stuck and not the anti-trap sign won't go off, beeping every 20 seconds and driving me crazy. I have read in a lot of places that once the FRM (before 2009) reaches the 60 "hits" limit, it blocks and it is not possible to do anything with it, unless you can somehow "hardcode" it again, like you install the "firmware" from scratch. I had to buy one for my 120d due to xenon lights, and then I have already paid once to have the FRM on mt 2006 320d "hardcoded" as mentioned before. Now I'm checking out your video and wanted your help clarifying this before spending un-necessary money on both buying the cable or having it re-coded. Thanks in advance mate, you rock!

      Hi
I never had the beep you mention... it can be that is dependent of which circuit is or the software version...
      But....

@@LMAutoRepairs és português? :) Image the beep that goes on (Chime) when a warning light goes up on the dashboard (i.e a lamp, the gas, a busted tailight) but repeated every 20 seconds while driving. I had a plate light going on and off for quite a while which I would assume was the cause of the FRM buffer to get high, but the warning is about the window anti-trapping system. So... does tool32 have that as well, and.. once the module "locks" is it able to unlock it... note: none of the funcionalities ever stoped working... just repeats the error every 20 sec.
      cheers

So on my 07 328i. I had put aftermarket hid kit, I got the code for the left and right dip beam error. Swapped to original bulbs but error won’t go away. Also ran a scanner on there and it kept showing an shortage, causing also my thermostat to not be working properly. I’m so frustrated on this. Can’t find the solution

Not to mention that my headlights are working perfect, and also having trouble with driver locking door. I dont know if it has to do something with jt

Most likely that those issues will not be related... but hey, you never know...
You need to tackle one issue at the time...
For the headlights, it is weird that the lights are working and showing a short circuit...
I presume you have tried to clear those codes and they just don't go away, correct?
      Thank you for watching!

LM Auto Repairs correct! I tried clearing them and they are there. One of my headlights housing it’s kinda damaged but all lights work perfect. I want to find out what program I need to scan the car more deeply to see if I can find an answer

      Manuel Barron
Any scanner will scan in pretty much the same way... what you can get though, is tools capable of work in other areas of the module... like what I do here...
Get the bmw tools and D-CAN cable, and check that your count for short circuit is not too high or something... if exceeded usually disables the circuit, but if yours still work that is not the case...

      I found it good price/quality.
Is not the best scanner, but is definitely not the worst.
I have videos showing what the scanner can do on different cars... might worth to have a look if you are thinking about getting one...
      Hope that helps
