Suggestion. If the clanging around of that super retro cup holder bothers you, go to Lowe’s or Home Depot and grab a can (not the spray type, but the “dip” type) of plastidip and just dip the lower portion of your cool cup holder in some of that and let it dry. Do it a few times, build up a couple layers to deaden the sound and protect your dash! Win/win! Great project and I love following this!
I have a 64 CJ5 with the same cracked up bondo mess like yours. Mine starts under Jeep script. I have good metal on inside of tub. Maybe people slapped Bondo on to cover spot welds. You have motivated me to grind mine off and soon as weather warms up. Keep up good wor
Good fix on the glovebox, I used a piece of gal sheet with a 90 bend on the Power Wagon, it butted up against the firewall so the firewall became the back and top. CJ5 coming along OK, you had much better quality rubber boots than I did, mine spit first time I shifted the 4x4 lever.
There is a great product to remove rust, that will chemically change the rust. It's called Ospho. Available at Ace Hardware. I used it on my 1964 CJ5. Once the rust is converted, it is harmless and it can be safely sanded and painted. Awesome to recover the damage done to the "Jeep" logo. Covering that up was horrible. So: Ospho, Sand and paint. Looking forward to what you will do next. My glove box was gone, too, but I made one with wood.
hey Jacob! Your videos must be getting popular... I had like 4 pop-up ads during your video. The sign of success, I guess. If it were me, with the body filler situation, I'd try to grind off as much as i could from the area between the front fender and the door opening and feather it out under the door. it would be a much smaller transition area and be a lot less noticeable. then find a green that matches. advance auto has a paint match camera and can mix some that matches and even put it in a spray bomb for you! a large chunk of the putty with paint on it should be enough for them to match it. Just an option. BTW, I am going to sell my '67 V6 CJ. As you know its new from bumper to bumper and more perfect than when it was new. if you know someone looking, send em my way.
Nice job! I found placing those rubber parts in very hot water makes them more manageable to stretch over the nobs but I liked your idea with the bag and grease and I was hoping it didn't tear... nice clean up too.
Funny your working in the interior. I'm back at my 67 CJ5 fitting new hi-back seats. May have to mod rear fenders......now where did i see that video?, 🤣
Picklex20 for the win on bare metal. What are the plans for the Jeep? Just a beater, woods Jeep? That determines direction. I can’t help but fix, cut out, panel replace where there is rust. How you feel about Bondo is how I feel about rust. You are in TN and that is the Meca for auto restorations, etc in the East. Offer advertisement in an episode from a Chemical dipper and just kill all the birds in the corn field in one go around. Then, fix the rust, use 3-4 coats of VP2050 Epoxy Primer and paint it it back whatever color you want. Such a faster process and not that much $. Would be a great series.
Same guy must have done my Jeep logo that did yours - seriously. I still don't know how to get my logos visible again either (mine are bondoed over on both sides). You're pretty good with a welder - they do sell replacement panels with the Jeep logo you might want to look into. Great video!
I'll be interested in how you go on the seat covers. I can't find a budget friendly option. My foam is usable but the covers are split open. I've Retro Manufacturing for an older looking radio. Some recommend marine radios for the weather but they don't right in a old Jeep.
@@SevenBarSalvage a jeep is on my to do list but first ive got to build a shop that i can actually get a vehicle into my thought process for a jeep is mid 70's with a ford 302 five speed manual gear box ford 9 inch hard top with heat AC modern stereo as well orange body (think general lee orange) black hard top and set of just normal street tires on a set of american racing modular wheels chrome centers and black outers when i do my jeep it will be a traveling vehicle for my fiance and i
@@GeorgiaRidgerunner Thatd be a sweet rig! In the mean time buy up the parts you want and then you’ll be ready to go. I’d look for something 76 or newer those were the best in my opinion!
Hey I am looking for seats for my 1968 CJ 5 any ideals where in may fine a set? I pass through Cookeville a few time . I live in East Tenn near Kingsport. Any help would be appreciated.

Man that’s a great idea! Thank you for sharing! I appreciate it!
Great video! Keep ‘em coming.
Thank you!
Wow! I never expected the transfer case boots to stretch enough to go over the knobs. Good trick!
Thank you!
Remember how much our mamas had to stretch for us to get here!😂
Another Great segment!!! Loving the Jeep!!!
Thank you!

That’s great glad to hear it! Thank you!

That’s pretty slick! Yeah I’ve had other boots that ripped way too easy!
Brilliant, greetings from eastern ontario
Thank you!
Hey folks good job done 👍
Thank you!

Awesome thank you I appreciate it!
Idea for glove box that worked great on my 55 cj5. I found Stainless food prep bin at the local Cash and carry fit right in, $6!
Haha that’s awesome!
Looks great man! My vote is to simply clear / seal the rust and let the logo and patina shine! Interior cleaned up well too!
I think that’d look pretty cool! Thank you!
Son...this is good stuff. I subscribed to you on both of my channels.
I appreciate it!

Haha that’s crazy! Good idea I didn’t think of that! Surely not man that thing is sweet!

Just a beater woods Jeep not a restoration. Bondo usually means rust haha thank you for the recommendations I appreciate it!

Haha I think it was an epidemic at some point in time 😂 That’s a good option! Thank you!
Grind the rest of the bondo out and paint it
This is good stuff. Subscribed to you on both of my channels.

If that radio works I’ll buy it off you
I’ll check!
Weld the radio hole back in
Spray the shift knob with polyurethane. I think it would look nice.
Good idea!

Its almost worth it to just buy new reproduction ones for the cost of having them recovered! I’ll see what I come up with thanks!
Aftermarket trany shift knob
Stick those boots in hot water
Great video! Where did you get the roll cage? Thanks!
It’s just a factory roll bar! Thanks!
Remove the bondo and let the wave show or buy patch panels either way is better
Than leaving the way it is
I’m starting to dig look haha thanks!

I'd get a cut from a wrecked jeep and graft in the whole panel. Sooner or latter it will have to be delt with.
That’s a good idea!

Pretty hard to come by it’s one of the first things to go when a Jeep gets parted out. I’d check with quarter ton military in Chickamauga!
👌👍🇨🇴
Transfercase knobs are screw on
That jeep wouldn't even came with a roll bar, they didn't come with roll bars tell 1976
That wouldn't came with a radio
Fix the fender right then paint the whole jeep, since the paint isn't original.
I probably will some day!
ew that's a bunch ole leaves...... where did they come from??????
Haha almost like it was sitting behind someone’s house 😆
