Thank you for your kind comments, really pleased it was helpful. Im sure you will pick it up in no time. Ive got some Linux command line getting started videos that might be useful for you. th-cam.com/video/offazVbSP2k/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/ZWqVKE7a8UQ/w-d-xo.html
This is a great video! I bought my first Raspberry PI 5 a week ago and this was very helpful in getting me started. There are a few videos (like this one) that I watch several times because it is so helpful. I have subscribed.
Good work. Not sure I can get thru the last setup steps, though. I'm confident I can start over again with no problems. I agree that the on-off button is a good (great!) addition.
Ive been using the PI 5 as my main desktop computer since October and with the exception of a few minor exceptions it has been super stable and quick enough for my needs (to be honest I've really only been browsing the web and watching TH-cam for the most part). It's a great little box and I'm a sucker for having way too many tabs open in Chromium (20 is not unusual) so it has been well tested.
With the exception of a few minor exceptions due to exceptions in the pi 5 hardware and exceptions in the exception handling exceptions due to the instructions excepted from the RISC architecture that includes notable instruction exemptions compared to CISC architecture I find that the pi 5 is exceptional. Apart from those minor exceptions.
I feel the best way to get the OS is to download it as you get the latest version available. A pre-imaged SD card may have an older version of Raspberry PI OS on it and as such take more time to update when first setup. You also usually don't get a choice of SD card type and have no idea of its quality, creating your own really is the best option in my opinion.
I found that it clicks into the red part with a satisfying click, but it can come loose too easily, and I've accidentally separated it from the red part a few times, even pulling out the fan cable!
The built in case fan is not very loud at all, I haven’t measured it so this is just my opinion. I would say the fan on the active cooler is louder than the case fan though. That said the active cooler does seem to provide more cooling.
This is true, however their latest beta release does have support for PI5 but the state it should be considered 'preview': github.com/home-assistant/operating-system/discussions/2844#discussioncomment-7973643
I like to live on the wild side. Hence I always pipe to BASH. The rush is addictive! Is it a virus? what you actually expect? or something else?! The action just never ends
Thanks, that was helpful. I'm a noob at linux, and this kind of stuff with precise and specific description is exactly what I need.

Thats great news, I'm so glad it helped and thanks for the sub.
Concise, clear, and through explanation. Thanks!
Thanks for the comment
Hopefully I can get ahold of a pi 5 to play with soon, thanks for the video!
Great video! Exactly the type of explanation I was looking for, thank you
Lovely comment, thank you

Hi, glad you found this helpful. Are you meaning Pi-Apps? Don't worry too much, it really is an optional step if you wanted to use it.

I can only agree, for day-to-day computing tasks, its a great device!

brill thanks just bort a pi5 and am liking it a lot
That's great, glad your enjoying it.
Excellent RPi5 information. The RPi5 should run OpenCV a little better than the RPi4. Thank you.
Absolutely it should, haven't used the PI 5 for this. I have been playing with the Coral USB device though, gives some great results also.
Nicely done! thank you!!
Thanks for the comment
The best way to get the os is to order it on the sd card. Later versions of the pi allow you to copy to a larger disk very easily.

Did you find the bottom white part of the case didnt click as securly as one would think it would ???
I found that it clicks into the red part with a satisfying click, but it can come loose too easily, and I've accidentally separated it from the red part a few times, even pulling out the fan cable!
@@LadyTechTalks exactly the same with me….
could you please link the pi-apps website you used? it did not show up.
But why Camera on off option is Missing in interface options???
On newer versions of Raspberry Pi OS the camera is enabled by default. Hope this helps.
How loud is the fan?

Is it true that Home Assistant isn't supported and doesn't run on the Raspberry Pi 5?

If Home Assistant on Pi5 is still of interest, I've just uploaded a new video covering this: th-cam.com/video/9_oKoyE1lY4/w-d-xo.html

No background at ALL??
case is a bit misleading isnt it?
The fan is certainly tricky!
It a shame all the usb port should be 3.
Yes i agree.
nevermind i got it
The rotating cuts are most annoying.
Sorry to hear that, hope you found the video useful nevertheless.
