Amazing lesson. My sentences: - I'm afraid I can't go there today because I have lots of things to do, like cooking for my kids and do the cleaning. - They treated me well, I felt as If were important. - My nephew speaks like his father. - Smokers are more likely to develop diseases, such as cancer and lung diseases
Gosto quando o professor ensina e depois fala que os os propios nativos não respeitam as regras da gramática, porque se não avisar isso, quando ouvimos um nativo falar "errado" irá confundir nossa mente pensado que aprendemos errado. Muito boa essas suas aulas
As come before a nounphrase+with a verb (to comparing '' the first looks like the second.. Like ,you can use it just putting a noun phrase and people use like like as, like I did .. But maybe people know it but they consider it like casual Such as, is more formal than like
I went to Colombia last June to visit the friend and I met amazing places such as plaza de chorro de Quevedo, plaza Bolívar, cerro de montserrate and so on is better than say "like cerro de montserrate, plaza de chorro de Quevedo and so on"?
example: we run like a cheetah. we have a lot of food like pizza, burger and noodle we run fastly as cheetah chase a deer we have a lot of work such as create a report and doing payment process
It is highly unlikely for like to replace as in comparisons because vernacular language will not replace formal language. The only reason English language was changed in America is, because the people of influence in the beginning of the republic decided to modify English to distinguish America from from the former fatherland that they fought a war for independence.
I'm sure that most native speakers use them in a correct way in writing, but the tend to use like in all cases in speaking cuz it's not that important.
Hello Alisa, I have an another question, what is the difference between a phrase and an idiom ❓❓❓❓ Very confused😕❓😕❓ Please mention it in your videos Love from india
I hope this helps: A phrase is a set of words (For example: "Why am I sad?") But an idiom is a set of words that are almost like myths of why something happens(Or you can just think of it as the words in the sentence don't contribute to the meaning) (For example: "In a pickle.) The person isn't inside of a pickle; they are simply in an unwanted or bad situation.
I have a question, in the example with “AS” Specifically, when Alisha says “She sleeps as if she were a baby”, why uses WERE and Not WAS with pronoun SHE??? Thanks in advanced
Hello, Friend! It's because it's unreal past, and we are trying to make a similarity relation between "the baby" and "the girl" and we use "as if" to tell the similarity. "Were" is used with "as if" because It's unreal past and just like we also use it with If clause type 2, for instance, If I were you, I wouldn't do that.
@@guneyerkmen5623, you should pay your attention to the second conditional type, there are two forms of the verb "to be", which are used there, i.e., "was" / "were". You can apply them interchangeably. Good luck
