I had the opposite experience - I had a really good upbringing and my parents were always there for me and very supportive, and I had no major trauma and I turned out gay anyway.
I think Jose # 1 turning “Rosa” into a character was a GREAT idea! It gave him a safe & Gun outlet to get that personality out. It’s not much different then a Drag Queen.
