Note from David (The Spine): I scheduled this for release a day before the fires near Los Angeles started and forgot about it. My blood ran cold when I got the notification that it posted this morning. I swear the band is not tone deaf and we just forgot it was automatically going to post. We’re not advertising this video on our social media and saving that for the future, because these fires have been devastating. As of this posting most of the band has been unaffected by the fires since most of us are farther down south in San Diego. Sending positive vibes to the few that are (Lacey & Gabi)…and the rest of our family and friends closer to the fires.
It's so nice to see everything coming back together after COVID. Not only the performances, but the band growing again, the use of 'steam' and other theatrics on stage, and hearing the crowd so excited to see you all. I can't wait until I can come see you guys live again! Sending my love from the east coast, stay safe!
Wonderfully done! I haven't heard The Spine push it like in the last chorus before, but my goose is bumped! The fact that SPG sounds better live than many bands do on studio albums is a testament to their raw-damn dedication and skill. Never heard them drop out of harmony, even in flu season. This and "Hot on the Trail" share the spot of my favourite SPG song - so far!
Okay, this is officially my favorite live version of Fire Fire. Lacey’s voice blends so well with the rest of the groups, having David Butterfield on the drums makes it come alive, Rabbit & Zero’s harmonies are so on point, and The Spine’s voice when he goes up to the higher octave on the last chorus just gave me chills. So so so excited for the full release of this concert, and even more excited to see you guys live in February!
I used to watch everything this band put out from across the pond before life stuff got in the way years ago, and i thank youtube for randomly bringing it back on my radar because it's still so good ! Also damn, the spine's last verse was metal as hell. The narratives, the emotions, the good musicians.. i've missed this
Still sounding magnificent guys! My daughter was so excited to hear this today going to school, she had the biggest grin like if she was there. Thank you guys for bringing a very beautiful center point for my daughter with your wonderful music!
This is the best version of Fire, Fire that I've heard. Kudos to your mixer. The balance of the vocals and instruments was on the money, And it was a live show too.
Holy shit that change at the end! This was the song that got us hooked on you guys way back. I was listening to this in the background and it hit and we frantically went back to the tab and rewound ten times easily. Holy shit that singing.
It’s so nice seeing recordings of you all doing live performances again! Reminds me of when I used to watch the live performances you’d upload during the Hatchworth Era. Looking forward to hopefully seeing you five live in Minnesota soon, if touring brings you up here!
It gives me the chills. The story line seems to be a mix of Apollo-1 and the space shuttle disasters. After Apollo-1 NASA stopped using a pure oxygen atmosphere on the launch pads. Challenger never made it to space. Columbia came apart during re-entry. All three were fire but of different types. We all morn the loss and take the warnings in different ways.
This song was released in the band's fourth album, which is dubbed a "space opera". The song itself is speaking of two fictional tragedies, both involving spaceships in orbit/out of earth's atmosphere. While the song was written long before its official band release and I cannot speak to the original inspiration, the official context isn't actually anything that's actually occurred. Though it can relate very closely to historical tragedies
Just to say, a day or two after this concert, I had a informative speech I had to give to my speech class. I decided to do it on this band. I presented with a full on slide show and I think it was pretty good.
Fire Fire is the favorite SPG song of one of my best friends, who died last year. I cannot listen to it and not cry. Neto, love you my friend, we will always love you.
I remember listening to a version of this on Tumblr that was just David and some digital instrumentation years ago! It's one of my favorites and I love getting to listen to it live
REALLY unfortunate timing but omg this performance in particular is absolutely captivating. David belting out in that last chorus completely took my breath away. This year marks five years since I've discovered SPG, and five years of them being my favorite band. Good work everyone!!
oooooohhhhh my gosh, oohh my gosh oh my gosh. this is so amazing, i am so so so thankful and in love and in awe with y'all for making and performing and posting this new live version of this song, this song has always meant so much for me and i felt the live version y'all posted before years ago really showed of the rawness of it so good, but listening to it felt weird and mixed up after everything that happened with hatchworth - because what this song meant to me and felt to me like was the stuckness and fear and danger i exp as a kid in a toxic household where everything was burning and no one was leaving, and i couldn't - and was a song that helped me in my journey out of that. thank you so so much for this song and making such a beautiful new live version of it, it also came out at such a beautiful moment in time for me, y'all inspire me deeply. y'all are also such truly amazing musicians and performers. so very inspiring to me as someone who also wishes to become a great musician and performer, who also creates such cool and weird and meaningful music.
This song was what made me fall in love with this band way back when. Glad to see it hasn’t lost any of its live charm even now. My heart always warms when I see you guys update 💛
You’re in luck! You can watch her sing lead on “The Suspender Man” from this same live show here: th-cam.com/video/gtKL0-8GMts/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared

For what it's worth, that wasn't even a consideration for me. But I'm glad you got ahead of it.
@@DoubleL11862 Same. Just an awesome song!
*offers hugs*
I never would have thought you folks would do such a thing, no worries.
Well, there’s a difference: one’s in space and the other is on earth.
dude you're all good I don't think anyone is getting that impression, love yall you're all doing an amazing job

welcome to the spg community
Check out summertime sadness!
You’re one of us now welcome to robot time
The way you can see Bunny grin when David starts singing the final chorus at 3:39 is so sweet. They all look so happy on stage.
Wonderfully done!

Fire Fire continues to be my favorite SPG song
I find its message too troubling.
Never heard David put so much of his soul into that final chorus before, incredible power 3:39.
Some soul behind those circuits.

Spine absolutely killing it with the vocals on this one; it's great seeing the evolution of that over time
1:41 rabbit and zero gave me chills oh my GODD i cant wait to hopefully see you guys in august
The robots are looking and sounding fantastic! It seems like they had a much deserved glow-up.

THE ENDING PART SENT LITERAL CHILLS DOWN MY SPINE

Ha! Spine
Just to say, a day or two after this concert, I had a informative speech I had to give to my speech class. I decided to do it on this band.

When you get moved to tears by a bunch of singing mimes dressed as steam powered robots. 😅
