Thinking about jumping back to Logic because I continually get crashes and corrupted sets for reasons I don't know. Never experienced anything like it when working with Logic and with Ableton, it's getting to the point where I don't wanna create anything on it because it'll just scrap my work anyway . :/ already contacted Ableton support and they just told me to make sure to back up my work.
for EDM, Lo-Fi, Hip Hop Productions or jamming or editing sets for live performance, this is what Ableton Live well known it's a game changer. for Recording audio, tracking multi instruments or vocals, scoring to picture, mixing and mastering Logic is superior
@@pushpatterns sure, editing in Logic for example cutting, duplicating, dragging, is a pain in the ass, you need to master key commands and marquee tool. these thing are super easy in Live, and in PT is another story PT originally made for these stuff primarily apart recording to replace tape machine thats why PT is the main tool for engineers, fantastic at editing audio
I'm a complete noob and want to start doing Lo-Fi with the Unison Midi Chord Packs. I had someone at Unison recommend these 2 programs for what DAW I should use so this video and your comment are super helpful to me. Thank you so much!
In regard to sound quality or creativity effects. Logic has similar tools plus more tools that Ableton doesn’t have. Logic is loaded with synths envelopes samplers etc, plus you can go under the hood for advanced sound design tools. I can write a book about the details.
Singing, rapping, beat making, recording live with my bands, live performances, uniquely creative, manipulating my vocals for sound effects, experimenting with instruments.. lofi, hiphop, neo soul, funk, bluesy, multiple vocals, and midi …which daw can do most of that in one?
I don't think Ableton is predominantly for EDM.. it's very multi genre friendly, I just think that the work flow in Ableton is better that's why I use it
Cool video buddy! On point 2 Logic audio editing tools (time based edits, looping copying, shifting, etc.) does it the same if not better. (I think you aren’t that fluent with Logic’s feature set in this regard).
I found Ableton 7 about 15 years ago and it took me a while to learn it. At that moment I had almost stopped making any music, but soon Ableton revitalized it. I started Midi (and audio) with Logic Audio in mid 90s and back then it was revolutionizing desktop music production. Today, Logic doesn't appeal to me, it looks and feels very entry level software, similar way Cubase felt in mid 90's comparing to Logic Audio. In any case, we are very fortunate to have apps like these, doesn't matter which one we choose.
what exactly does "looks entry level" mean and how would that effect the performance and capability of software that has been responsible for hundreds of hit records ?
Singing, rapping, beat making, recording live with my bands, live performances, uniquely creative, manipulating my vocals for sound effects, experimenting with instruments.. lofi, hiphop, neo soul, funk, bluesy, multiple vocals, midi..which daw can do most of that in one?
I think this video would be better if you actually showed why a feature was better in one daw versus the other (by comparing the two) versus just saying it’s better and moving on.
I appreciate this video and your opinions. Please keep making these types of videos! I love them. I totally agree with a lot of your opinions, BUT, a lot of your opinions are subjective, and biased towards Ableton.
Completely agree with you. The piano roll and the editing side of things are not very good :( ableton editing workflow is lot better, although I love logics take folders 😍
Logic is for pro's recording full band performances. multi-tracking, mixing, editing, mastering. Ableton is for solo artists who are using the DAW to compose. Logic is a lot more modern in its GUI. Ableton is very "Windows" in its layout... folders... left to right. when it comes to value for money..... dont even
Unfortunately, you can't do reliable (sample accurate) multitrack edits in Logic Pro, also you can't really edit drums effectively. That's why we still use Pro Tools. + you can't search for plugins in Logic which is a bummer for a mixing engineer.
Singing, rapping, beat making, recording live with my bands, live performances, uniquely creative, manipulating my vocals for sound effects, experimenting with instruments.. lofi, hiphop, neo soul, funk, bluesy, multiple vocals, and midi …which daw can do most of that in one?
As far as double clicking the notes in Logic’s midi editor you can do that as well. There are multiple ways to enter notes. (You are not that fluent with Logic to make a comparison). You can also keep your notes in scale in the pattern editor.
Hey thank you for your comment, please explain how to enable the double click feature within piano roll? and yes I am aware of the scale locking within the pattern region but in my opinion, it is more intuitive in Ableton's midi editing window.
@@drivebyemusic Yes that was my point you have to enable the pencil tool to input any MIDI notes. In Ableton, you just double-click, no pencil tool enablibing needed.
@@pushpatterns I like the sound of Ableton, especially the bass, but I like the operation and interface of the logic, Edit midi logic is more convenient than Ableton
Personally.. I HATE yes I capitalised the hate the look of Ableton. I would not want to look at that horrid interface for as many house as we do in a DAW. It has some brilliant features but man it's so damn ugly. I have given a good few hours to it but I always feel like I do more web searches to find stuff out than I do making anything. I uninstalled it after a week as I could not handle its look & then with how unintuitive I personally found the work flow. It kills it for live performance which is where I have used it. (I have worked with friends in Ableton) I have been using logic for so many years I absolutely have a bias. It's so easy to look past grievances because it's a pleasure to look at. way less mess on screen making it feel more spacious & I can see more of my projects. I can set up the view to have everything I need to be right there. I like the more traditional style of Logic. I think if I was ever to use the "Ableton" look I would use bigwig. it has the more traditional workflow combined with the function that Ableton offers just with WAY more interconnectivity. It still looks really messy & not as nice.. but its work flow is much better.
Thank you for your input, and yes i feel your not alone with the hate lol a lot of people don't like the way it looks. I guess you get used to it. And yes Bitwig is on the rise!
@@pushpatterns it really is. I do Psytrance șo modulation is key & this is VERY lacking in Logic like badly.. in Bigwig (not sure Ableton is on par) can modulate anything with anything back & fourth. which is incredibly useful in such genres! thanks for the Vid mate I enjoyed it. you dropped a comment which is amazing you got a new sub! keep up the good work. & all the best for 2024
Absolutely! They are just tools, gaining a better understanding of all the tools out there will better inform your decision as to which is better for which job!

Sorry to hear that; what computer and operating system are you using? And what version of Live?
@@pushpatterns It's a Macbook Air and I’m fairly sure it’s the latest edition.
@@frivolitymachine3914 Whats the operating system on your mac, and is it pre M1?
@@pushpatterns It’s macOS 14.6.1 (23G93) Sonoma. Any help is appreciated. 🙂

thinking about checking out Ableton from Logic (drummer/self-producer getting into more live set concepts). this is great.
Thanks! Ableton is great for live! That what it was designed to do!
I’m a logic user and multi instrument player I want to start work on my own gig would u recommend to switch to abelton?
For live performance Ableton live is king! It what it was initially designed to do :)

Hey, i'm not saying it does effect the performance and capability but the ascetics of any program make a difference to the user experience.

Apparently Ableton doesn’t have a mixer view ,,is this true ?
It technically does, session view
@@pushpatternsWhat are the downsides to it? I've heard this before that it doesnt have a Mixer

Tho everyone says daws sound same. But to me logic has a harsh, saturated, general-midi vibe, which makes it the least forgiving daw I’ve ever used.
I think there is some sound differences in the Digital summing, but It;'s very hard to hear.

No question
Ableton all the way kills Logic
Well… yep :)
Logic is much better. And if you want to record audio there is no comparison, logic is a much better daw for record real audio.
I agree but I do prefer editing audio in protools or Ableton Live. Don’t like it in logic
