    Thanks. Great video and info. I ordered the carb you suggested. I will also clean the one that’s on there while waiting for the upgrade carb.

      Keep me updated how it works out for you. I still have to clean the carb I took out as well. I will have a video soon cleaning the old carb.

      @@starlightsunsets Installed the new carb and added a fuel filter. Runs great. All equipment that uses fuel should have a fuel filter IMO

      I agree there should be a filter. Glad that new carb worked out for you and resolved the issue.

    How did you get the rubber shroud back around the gas cap? I don't want to just jam it with a screwdriver. 😊

    • @starlightsunsets
      @starlightsunsets  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@elliotbaltazar thanks for watching. It was hot that day and the rubber was easy to just work back on. If it’s cold I would have used a hairdryer or something to warm it up. I didn’t use screwdriver just worked with my fingers. It’s not easy but just take your time and it will seat in place.

      @@starlightsunsets Thanks for the response! It's definitely a job getting it seated properly! At least I know it can be done by hand. 👍

    My Predator 2000 won't start...I let fuel sit in it for at least two years. It briefly ran (2, 3 seconds) and the "Overload' light came on and it quit. Drained fuel and sprayed Gumout into the air intake, same thing. Is it normal for the "overload" light to come on while starting? Could there be a short in the Generator rotor/stator? Or am I looking at a clogged carb needing rebuild?

    • @starlightsunsets
      @starlightsunsets  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching. I never had the overload light come on while trying to start. It simply would not start unless I sprayed wd40 or brake cleaner in the air intake. It would rev up and start to die until another spray. I replaced the carb with a new one instead of rebuild. It started about the 2-4 pull and has ran fine since. Now I did use high octane pump gas until I was camping recently and only had 87 and it ran for about 10 minutes and quit. I do use stabile in the generators because they may sit a month between use.

    When it comes to portable generaters you have to run them every month for 20 minutes at least. Propane no problem

    • @501house
      @501house 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, I purchased refurbished and they sat for a long time before I even tried them. Now I start all my equipment on the 1st day of each month.

      @501house very wise. We're I work we have 2 generators and I get them out and run them on a medium load for about 20 or 30 minutes. Take in mind these generators hasn't been needed for several yrs now. But they fire up every time so far

    Great video. I'm wondering, at 7 mins, with the carb out but not disconnected, you might have been able to remove the jet from under the bowl, and using a pin and some carb cleaner, you could have cleared the gummed up gas.
    Either way, very helpful.

    • @starlightsunsets
      @starlightsunsets  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching and glad it was helpful. Yes, at that time I could have pulled the bowl and cleaned. I already had a new one so I just replaced. There will be a video out soon showing how to take that carb apart and clean. Thanks for pointing that out so I can throw that part of the video into the new one.

    • @MikeTeets
      @MikeTeets ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is correct... and 90% of the time will correct the issue. Just remove the air cleaner completely with 10 mm and 8 mm sockets. Leave carb attached. Remove 10mm bolt on bottom of bowl. Lift the float and remove the jet with a flathead. If you don't have jet reems, just use a very small wire. Clean bowl and jet with carb cleaner and reassemble. Total time about 10 min.

    Great video.well explain.what type of gas you use? Can I use 89 gas or stick with 87?

    • @starlightsunsets
      @starlightsunsets  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for watching. I have been running 89 since I replaced the carbs. I have used them enough with my camper and log splitter that new gas continues to run through. I will add some type of additive if I know they will not be used for a few months.

    Mine got rained on now won't start even after drying, have a suggestion? No water in gas, bowl was drained. Pretty new

    • @starlightsunsets
      @starlightsunsets  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe swap the spark plug. Pull the plug to see if it is getting fire. I have found on these if I don't put stabil or something in the gas they will gum up the jets pretty quick.

    Wow sir, you have the carburetor out you might as well just clean the jet instead of replacing the whole thing silly. It’s more work getting all that linkage hooked back up properly than it is to just clean a single jet.

      @starlightsunsets  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@A-mechanics-review-4U I know, I was in a hurry and not 100% it was the carburetor. Made the video to show some engineer held the carburetor in place and they built the generator around it. 😂

    No need to buy a new carb cause that carb does not have a diaphragm to pump gas.

      Thank you for watching. I could have cleaned the carb, but I wasn't sure what was wrong with it. I have since cleaned the old one and tried it in another generator and it runs well. It was clogged up from sitting for couple years.

    Spend the extra and go Yamaha or Honda
    You won't regret it

    • @starlightsunsets
      @starlightsunsets  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Thank you for watching the video to start. I was looking at the Honda when this option came alone. I have a friend that worked for Harbor Freight and told me about the parking lot sale and these 2 refurbished. I was able to pickup both generators and the parallel kit for $410. I did let them set in my garage for 2 years before even trying to start them, my bad on that part and got what I deserved. But I am now about $530 for 2 generators. One will run everything I need during the winter camping and will have to use both to summer camp with the AC on my Jayco 175. Happy camping and maybe see you at a campground.
