Andrew, you just solved my problem I have been chasing for 2 weeks! I was running additive in the gas, changed spark plug, cleaning everything I could find....but it still ran bad with a load. I even took it to a small engine repair vendor, but they returned it to me stating they couldn't find anything wrong with it. I watched your video, and sure enough, my spark arrestor was plugged solid. Cleaned it out, and BOOM, it now runs great again. You just saved me a TON of time, aggravation and money. Can't thank you enough for posting the video....this is a perfect example of the positive things TH-cam offers our society. You rock man!!

My predator 2000 keeps randomly surging while running smoothly like something put it under load. Sitting around the fire at elk camp this year & had generator running and plugged into my small 2008 summit trailer with NOTHING else on or even plugged in...no fridge on, no water heater etc. Trying to top off batteries as i run heater at night while sleeping, have thermostat set at like 55-60 so it uses the battery a bit by morning. As it runs for a while it always sound good but then it will start ramping up like under load and it will do more and more often as its on longer. Seems to run ok just ramps up. My buddy thinks it starts to sound worse the longer it runs to but hell i dont know??? Ive stood in trailer with everything OFF and it will ramp up every 5-10 minutes and again, will do it more often as it runs longer thru out a few hours of running to top off batts etc. Ideas???
There is a drain located on the carb bowl and put the clear hose into gas can then put knob in run position. Super easy. Always drain fuel unless you use it often so it starts when you need it.
@@mykylc The clear hose pulls out of the bottom and into the gas can. Can be easier by placing Inverter on a milk crate. That way there is no gas to spoil. Put fresh gas in when needed at it will start. On the farm I never leave gas in generators because you never know how long it will sit. When you're sitting in the dark you want it to start.

N die, no power I will even turn on the ESC throttle on to see if it will make a difference and it didn't .....Now there's a whole difference it sounds different ...now I can run my drill ,my zo,zo..thanks to your video...😊😊
Unrelated comment/question. I'm thinking of buying a Predator 2000. Is the louvered grill below the exhaust, an air intake or outlet? Usually air IN is on one end and OUT on the other near the exhaust. I'm building a sound deadening box with a truck bed tool box and need to separate IN and OUT air/exhuast flow. Thanks!!!
Just so you know, it has a small fuel filter in the inlet fuel line attached to carburetor, just like some MTD carbs. About the size of a thin drinking straw. So if it stops getting fuel, this may be the culprit.
Ok I tried that and it did help but my problem is I use my generator to pull a 8000 btu air conditioner over the last 4 years but this year on compression start it trips. You can tell it is so close to starting the compressor. Any ideas? It use to be fine...help please
First things first. Make sure you put oil in it. You probably did second thing. Second. Make sure you choke it and you have gas in and you have that little switch on the gas to on. If not, go to home Depot or harbor freight and buy a spark plug tester and make sure you have spark. They're like $9.99 or less
We're run them about 12 to 1500 hrs they clog up you got to keep an eye on it. Just remove it keep in mind I run my around the clock 750 hours is a month
No, I appreciate it. If people didn't tell me what I'm doing that makes a video a less experienced for you, I would never know. That's fine but if you use it in the Parks the Rangers order it shut down or may fine you for fire reasons. I pulled them out before first start on my 2- 3500's but tie strapped them inside the case along with Torch spark plug in case they are needed one day. Use a NGK plug.
see where your rope is about to brake from inside wear ,pullout yr rope and tie a knot just behind the pull handle -this will make it wear a new spot .hondas do the same thing, i have both A

Do you think it's ok to just keep the spark arrestor off it? Not sure if it would run lean or not.
yeah you can leave it off if you want shouldn't be a problem
It's not needed at all but if using it in a park they won't let you use it without the spark arrester so don't lose it.

what is going on if it sounds like it's going up and down
Surging check gaskets gas flow or carburetor if you want try a 1/4 can of seafoam in gas

Make sure you run premium gas in these things
Premium has to much additives if it was up to me I would just run zero ethanol
People log thousands of hours on these using Reg 87 octane gas as manual says with no problems. Stop giving bad advice.
Premium is for high compression engines, these run on regular gas. I'm 70 and have never bought Premium for anything.
Start at muffler and check screen for being plugged up
