    Hi Tom, I feel I am a small podcast show. I started 19 months ago to give a little extra mental wellness to my local hypnotherapy clients. My show makes over 4 figures every month now (US $)
    I run ads via Spreaker , then have a small membership page for ad free content.
    Only 1 Sponsor but thats because I am extremely fussy and its not about the money.
    The show though has become its own global brand and next month will see the app to compliment my content.
    For the record, no social media following prior to launch and now 2.2million downloads.
    Love your content and delivery, thanks .
    Martin

    One thing I wanted to mention. For my favourite podcast the sponsorship/ads they do are ads really geared to the audience. I actually look forward to the ad section because they are products I actually want and some times don't know about.

    Tom, This is great information. With my Podcast being very focused on the community where I live, I had resigned myself to making $0. LOL. I don't feel like ads on your podcast means you're "selling out". It's especially true on the podcast platform because you can do easily skip through ads as a listener. As long as there is not 10 minutes of ads, I think having ads just supports the creator so they can keep creating.

    • @tombuck
      @tombuck  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There’s definitely nothing wrong with using ads to support yourself and your show and it can be done really well. I just personally get bummed when I do see shows take paths with advertising that I don’t think are in the best overall interest of the podcast. Totally just my personal opinion though,

    This is such a great reality check. So interesting how VASTLY different the audience numbers are for podcasts. Maybe because they tend to be more of a time investment? • @tombuck
      @tombuck  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was kind of an experiment to try something without b roll. I don't do a lot of these "idea exploration" videos where it's not as clear as to what I could cut away to (it makes sense to show shots of a mic during a mic review). But I was hoping that 3 angles would provide enough visual interest to keep people's attention.
      The other thing is that without filming b-roll the video took less time to make. So it could be a way for me to add some extra videos into my workflow without overloading my schedule.

    • @MichealColhoun
      @MichealColhoun 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tombuck yes - love the idea and love any way to get more done in less time. I have a thought - what would it look like if these "idea explorations" had a branded theme that was subtly different from your product reviews. Maybe more jazzy or chilled music or slightly different camera angle or a darker and more atmospheric lighting. Your regular audience would notice and draw us in but casual viewers would not notice. Just a thought. 🤔
