Steven Soderbergh's, and his film scorer David Holmes, wonderful use of "This Town", sung by Frank Sinatra and written by Lee Hazelwood, for the film Ocean's Thirteen (2007).
To me I felt like this whole sequence was like the end of an era, it would be the last time that all of Oceans 11 would stand tall again and together. Danny would apparently meet his demise according to Oceans 8, to which I still don't believe. But after watching this movie a few times the last few days, I don't know, 12 years after the last Oceans movie makes me feel like something's been missing in Hollywood, I've always loved movies like this, even though Oceans 12 wasn't great to me, I always view the Oceans Trilogy to be the last really good kind of caper movies to come out at the time they did, especially with a song like "This Town" by Frank Sinatra whose reputation precedes him, hell the man is responsible for there being an original Oceans 11 in the first place. This whole sequence just makes me sad in a way, especially that last conversation between Danny and Reuben, I didn't want it to end, but at the same time as with life, gotta move on. I just didn't want the fun to end.
Itis heavily implied in Ocean’s 8 that Danny faked his death imo, and the crew said that they woukdn’t do anymore Ocean’s movies after Carl Reiner and Freddie Mac passed away.
@@markyj23 I'd probably have to say after his speech to Danny in this scene it's definitely Reuben, cause at this point he's been through it all and seen it all in Vegas, whenever he read those letters from the gang, granted it did bring him back but at the same time he persevered through the bullshit with Willy like he has with everything else, now he has a chance with prime real estate property thanks to Danny, it's the ultimate gift from Danny to Reuben simply because of what Reuben did for Danny and Rusty so with that being said, if there was no Reuben, there would be no Danny Ocean, therefore no Oceans 11.
I love the camaraderie of this gang. They all did this not out of greed, but because they all loved Rueben. They even chip in to buy him a new land to develop

You know I had a n earworm for this song from this movie when I woke up this morning. I wen t online to investigate and I was a bit confused because all the records say the song was written in 1949. But it wasn't recorded by Frank until 1957. Why'd he wait so long? He was the first one to record it. Come to find that it was meant for the film "On The Town" with Gene Kelly. It got axed from the film and Frank was pretty miffed about it. But its still a good tune. Glad that "Ocean's Thirteen" could give it some justice. Still feels like its more about New York though . . .
