- On 6th August 2023, more than 500 women of Indian origin will participate in the first ever London Saree Walkathon, draping various handloom weaves from different states of India.

Original Indians wore nothing but a cloth around their waist like men called anataria , rarely they wore uttaria or like a shawl that would cover the top but very rarely. The 9 yard saree is a very recent thing which modern Indians have perfected especially during the British period.
