Fairest of fair North Indian skin has a certain amount of pigmentation which makes them far more attractive compared to the bleached, bloodless and lifeless appearing skin of the locals. That is so very clearly visible the models on the catwalk. After all India does have complete range of skin colours starting from very fair but not quite white, to very dark. For whatever reason and IMHO saree does not suit white skin in the least bit. That white skin needs at least a coupe of years of exposure to Indian sun to grace a saree.
Atleast they could have taught them to walk properly. Design,colour even the blows is horrible. This this not the real one. If we try to attempt new thing give 100% Sorry to say that their effort is not good

True. I love how the designs were explained. Honestly speaking the choice of sarees were not too bad too. I guess they went for authentic, not the modern day designs.
After watching this video, I was convinced that our own people don't know how to showcase our culture and attire to western country people. 1st: models were looking depressed (opted for Indian models to represent) 2nd: sarees weren't draped properly with loose fitted blouse and visible petticoat in some 3rd: makeup was pathetic 4th: jewellery were used for namesake, no relation to the regions they belong 5th: many sarees looked repetitive pattern 6th: choice of color and design for the sarees were horrible (I believe even our grandmas had better design sarees) ONLY good part of the show was narration by the host..... When we only felt boring looking at them, I can understand why foreigners looked least interested. Need to say one thing to the organizers: kindly do research, hire good models and designers, select true vibrant color sarees and then showcase it to the world. We should be proud of it than becoming a laughingstock🙏

Just watched the fashion show and learned a lot of information that I never knew before and totally enjoyed the video. Then I read the comments and was astounded by the negativity against the models. Models are there to represent clothes not themselves which is why there is not expression on their faces. If everyone in the comments' section expected real life representation, it is clear you have never seen a runway show before. I believe I took away the most important message of the show which was to show the expansive history and influence India has in the fashion industry. Hopefully others have done the same.

Umm I don't understand why you guys are hating on it so much ?? As an indian I honestly love this ramp walk . They tried their best ... and the sarees were pretty good too . I love how they described each saree's history a bit . Yes it's could've been better but they are western people they thrive for simple elegance which they tried to keep through out the walk .
There's a certain way to walk when you wear a saree. For example when you walk, you should push the pleats with your legs simultaneously when you take a step. If not the pleats will entangle in your legs and look like a ball. But you shouldn't walk like you are kicking while doing that. The way you hold your hands is different for different saree draping style. Anyway I think they did their best. Here in Sri Lanka, saree is a traditional clothing, we have different styles of draping but the traditional draping style is different. It's called osariya. This has around 3-4 parts to the saree. I wonder what are the different draping styles in India. I wish people went back to the days where modesty was a fashion. Saree can be worn in a very modest way and that's the whole essence of it. Simply magnificent

Just watched the fashion show and learned a lot of information that I never knew before and totally enjoyed the video. Then I read the comments and was astounded by the negativity against the models. Models are there to represent clothes not themselves which is why there is not expression on their faces. If everyone in the comments' section expected real life representation, it is clear you have never seen a runway show before. I believe I took away the most important message of the show which was to show the expansive history and influence India has in the fashion industry. Hopefully others have done the same.

Umm I don't understand why you guys are hating on it so much ?? As an indian I honestly love this ramp walk . They tried their best ... and the sarees were pretty good too . I love how they described each saree's history a bit . Yes it's could've been better but they are western people they thrive for simple elegance which they tried to keep through out the walk .
There's a certain way to walk when you wear a saree. For example when you walk, you should push the pleats with your legs simultaneously when you take a step. If not the pleats will entangle in your legs and look like a ball. But you shouldn't walk like you are kicking while doing that. The way you hold your hands is different for different saree draping style.
Anyway I think they did their best.
Here in Sri Lanka, saree is a traditional clothing, we have different styles of draping but the traditional draping style is different. It's called osariya. This has around 3-4 parts to the saree.
I wonder what are the different draping styles in India.
I wish people went back to the days where modesty was a fashion. Saree can be worn in a very modest way and that's the whole essence of it. Simply magnificent
