HEAVY, but I’m happy with being able to have all those batteries in one place when I need multiple tools going and not having to “hunt” down batteries!!! Thanks for the review! Thanks DeWalt!!
Totally agree that it's kinda curious why it's taken so long. But looking at other comments to see if anyone was going to make a comment about their own custom charging box may be the answer to the question. Im guessing most of us professionals made our own similar boxes years ago when the first storage systems came out so there might not have been a real market push for this. Good on Dewalt bringing one to market though as it looks to be a great product.
Just bought one for myself for xmas. Its worth it just for the charger system which is way less clunky than the chargers that come with most batteries. An yes, nice to have a natural place to store all my batteries in one convenient place.

Another factor to consider with lithium batteries is temp. A battery storage box that was insulated but could also provide nominal heat would be ideal. Bringing my batteries into the house every night is annoying
Yeah. I bought a Dewalt heated jacket just to use it to line a box I keep my batteries and charger in. Glued in some spare rigid insulation from a jobsite and it easily keeps things appropriately toasty. I'm surprised they went with usb-a though. Most things use Usb-c these days.
It doesn't make sense to create a battery charger limited to 18v and Flexvolt.....so what about the 12v platform??? Do we use another charger inside the box only for the 12v batteries??? It's ridiculous....
I saw images of a full width 2.0 charger. I don't know any other details about it. I would be surprised if it wasn't a 4 bay charger or at the very least faster charge rate that can accept the 15ah. There looks to be a pretty big expansion to TS 2.0 coming in the not too distant future.

I keep my batteries on my tools, what would you say about the down/up sides of that? Would it degrade the battery faster? Or does it not make much difference If the batteries are off or on
So with many normal tools, I say no issue. BUT, with a Milwaukee jacket, if you leave a battery plugged in, it will kill the battery in 2 months, from my experience. Normal tools dont seem to have that issue.
Great channel…..it’s practical for a diy guy. As a framer we mostly use 12ah Flexvolt batteries and you can’t close the lid with a Flexvolt battery on the charger and one stored vertically. So your very limited on storing flexvolt batteries inside
Thanks for sharing this new charging tool👍🏻 I've been waiting for DeWalt to come out with this product for a long time. Its hard to believe they didn't come out with a lid down, shutoff feature to prevent heat build up 🤔 I can see this as an alternative to a caulk warming box in the tool trailer set-up during the winter months.
Does the fan actually vent the box when it's closed and charging? Can't really tell from the video or the review. That would be my only hesitation on this. Otherwise great idea.
Good review. Maybe mention to store batteries with indicator up. I don't put anything but batteries in my box, why would you? Loving my charger box, I am a drywall contractor and I just purchased the led light box that goes on top. Chargers are 4 amp each so its just not the 8 amp fast charger or the 6 amp one but way better then the dcb112 - 2 amp or worse the dcb107 - 1.25 amp. Keeps my batteries warm on cold sub-zero job-sites due to the internal fan while charging. I have 4-dcb203, 2-dcb204bt, 3-dcb240 and 4-DCBP034 powerstack and still room for more and also a couple stored in the chargers.
The issue i have with this box is heat, and moisture, since its sealed when closed your not only making a hot box, but a wet one as well. One would NEED to have a rechargeable desiccant or two in to box for it to be viable storage/charger solution.
For me the one thing that would make this great is if it had a rechargeable battery in the bottom so that I could charge in the plot I'm in. Maybe tough system 3.0…
It's begun to be a strangely consistent aspect of your videos regarding DeWalt products that there be a very substantial number of batteries accompanying them on the table.
My guess as to why noone has come up with this type of idea until this is probably the same reason noone has come up with a worksite radio/sound box that's worth a darn yet either. I've owned DeWalt tools all my life (my Dad had an old Dewalt Radial Arm Saw, so that gor me started) an have owned two of the jobsite radios - both were pretty terrible. What am I looking for in a radio/sound system? Good sound that doesn't distort like hell at higher volume, and has pretty good bass. Then, give me at least a dual charger of at least 4 amp output with maybe switchable fast charging on at least one of the two ports, and dual 2+ amp USBs. Having the unit able to connect to the ToughSystem 2.0 storage system is a must as is of course the ability to run off of a 110V power cord. Then there's the common sense side of me that says if they did this, noone would buy anything else, so the current radio and all the other charges stop selling. Guess that's the price you pay for good product design and common sense utility. I may just buy one of these and then design a sound system that can run off it and will connect to the TS 2.0 so it can sit under this unit. Maybe take a DWST08300 Medium Case and mod it to be the sound system. OR, just to be a disrupter, I'd like do the same but instead use a Milwaukee Packout system. Problem is this box won't connect to it! LOL!
I’d say liability, if something backfires in that box you now have an incendiary that could deal a lot of destruction relatively quickly. Take your own example of being left out on a hot day, now add something on top of the box(say a towel) and you have raised the likelyhood that’s gonna pop by like 2 or 3 times, and if you happen to be busy at a different part of the jobsite, by the time you come back it could be a flaming pile of 1000’s $ worth of equipment. The chance is low but it is there and no manufacturer wants to be responsible for that. If someone DIYs their own battery box that atleast removes liability from dewalt. I imagine Dewalt is only comfortable releasing this now because they have a 99% confidence that nothing like that could occur, likely has two dozen safety mechanisms to prevent such an event, or they figured some legal way of removing their own liability. Either way cool product, hopefully it pushes other manufacturers to try their hand at it. I’ll have to stick to a DIY approach since I run more then a single battery system. Cool for those that don’t though
Rather just use my current setup. 4 port rapid charger 8 amp charging each port which is double this and obviously double the ports and put it on top of a toughsystem 2.0 box. Bam same thing and more space and more charging. Feet jus require some grinding away on the 4 port charger to fit a 2.0 box as it only fits 1.0 box from factory
It's cool but at $200 its to expensive for me. It should at least have the 8amp fast chargers for that price. If I can pick one up at a good sale I may get one...
Would have been nice if the locking bit would block the box from being unclipped somehow, otherwise a locked box can just be unclipped from your stack and stolen.
This looks great! Until you realize that it doesn’t charge Dewalt 12V batteries. And it only charges at 4A. For the price, it should have dual chargers that are at least as good as the 1106 charger (6A and can charge 12V). Sorry Dewalt, I’ve got @ bunch of Dewalt 12V tools and I would have paid the high price for this if it could charge my 12V batteries, even if it doesn’t charge as fast as my 1106 chargers.
You couldn’t fit a 15 ah battery on there…? you can charge a 9 or 12ah battery on it probably? but it’ll prevent you from storing more batteries below and the extra weight of the flexvolt batteries while charging with no batteries below will probably tip it over
@Making Made Simple I was working with a portable power station today that cost 600 bucks and had a 1036 watt hour battery pack. It weighed about 38 pounds with the ac inverter that we would not need. So that would charge ten 5Ah batteries or five 9Ah batteries. This seems heavy and expensive, but plausible. I need to see if Dewalt makes a DC charger. If so, we could make this for much less than anyone would charge for it with some LIFPO cells. Is that in the realm of what you would want to charge remotely?
WHY Dewalt not double fast charge????? Or even better a switch to allow me to change the speed of charge in order to manage heat if box is open or closed!!! come on get on it!!!

A 2 battery 4 amp charger by itself is $119. This item is $219. This means you're getting an IP 55 box for $100. Also, the literature says it will charge a 20 volt 60 volt flexvolt batteries. So I am not sure what batteries you're referring to it not being able to charge?
@@recoblade1465 Form factor will not allow the larger batteries (DCB615, DCB612, etc...) to even connect. For the same money or less you can get the 4 port DCB104 8 amp charger.
No slots to hold the batteries??? MAJOR design flaw! The type of people that would buy something like that are the type of people that want slots and dividers for the batteries so they lock in place!!! It’s called being organized! Engineers are dumb sometimes!!! Nobody wants a hollow empty box to throw the batteries in. Without that, exactly what is the benefit???? NOTHING
There's me thinking it was cordless whats the point. Most overpriced pointless thing in the world. I thought this was a game changer. Charging the unit at home then it then charging batteries on site with no power. Is that not possible??

I need to see if Dewalt makes a DC charger. If so, we could make this for much less than anyone would charge for it with some LIFPO cells. Is that in the realm of what you would want to charge remotely?
WHY Dewalt not double fast charge????? Or even better a switch to allow me to change the speed of charge in order to manage heat if box is open or closed!!! come on get on it!!!
I'm a Dewalt guy. But on this one, they just slapped this togethr
Hello Workshop Addict
I put all expensive tools in cheap tool boxes, ie Ryobi or.......
This would be the most unfortunate item to walk off a jobsite if it was fully loaded with batteries 😅
Picked one up today, excited to give it a go!
Why don't anyone that makes these videos ever mention prices.
Because they constantly change. There is a link in the description you can click and get the current pricing.
Sorry, but there is this one: PORTER-CABLE 20V MAX Lithium Battery Charger Dual Port Batteries (PCCB122C2)
I have it (got it about 5 yrs ago) it's great stores extra batteries as well - so not sure if they we first - but before Dewalt
Makita charges 8 in there box
In Canada this goes for $280.00 so really over priced
Not worth the money when you can literally just build your own if you think 💭 about it
I think it's worth the money not to have some homemade janky hillbilly trash battery charger you think is cool roll up on the jobsite 😂🤡
12v......
Will not charge 12v.
Only two chargers. Only 4 amps. Does not support their new large Flexvolt batteries. Overpriced and underpowered.
Bro cooked @@recoblade1465
So how do I charge my 2 x12ah flexvolt batteries on site? Wait until next day?😂😂😂😂 shouldn't cost more than 50£ for what it does lmao😂😂😂
Ok but too expensive
4amp charger??? What a bunch of 💩
