Does the starter chain not need the timing marks 🤔 just curious i know that there is also a timing chain so maybe since its just starter chain it dosnt need it

No timing needed for the starter. Just be sure the chain is properly on the gears.
      Thank you for watching.

Should the starter gear turn freely when power isn’t sent to it? I just got a new one and it doesn’t spin by hand but when I give it 12v it does. Wondering if I got a bad one before I start taking it apart.

Watch O6:35. The starter should spin without 12v.

@ thanks! I did see that which was what made me question the starter I have. Already requested a new one from Amazon.

Thanks for posting this video. I have a DF125GKS go cart. I knew there was a chain but I had not looked at the other side to see just how many bolts and how big the rotor is. I know those magnets can be pretty strong at times. The issue that I am having is when I pull the plug, that rotation is very strong. When I put the plug back in or check for compression, it barely turns over. So I am guessing the starter is about gone. Does this sound right to you or anyone that follows your channel?

It is difficult to diagnose without being hands-on, but maybe I can help with some ideas.
      Healthy fully charged battery?
Correct spark plug? Check for spark?
      Fresh gasoline? Clean carb?
No issues with safety features like brake switch, kill switch, etc. that prevent start?
Try to crank over without throttle and just the choke on. These engines, when cold, don't like to compress too much fuel and air until warmed up, which could be the slow crank.
Try these steps, and check for loose wire connections, too. Fun but poor build quality. Hopefully, you find a solution, and if not, then perhaps I'd blame a weak starter.
Long winded reply, and I appreciate you watching and subscribing. Good luck.

I didn't see you put the blue (carburetor?) hose back on??

Lol, nice catch! I assure you I did put the overflow tube back on. I ended up not adding that clip. Thanks for watching.
