I remember listening to this for the first time on a rainy, late-night drive. It ended just as I pulled into my driveway and I had to sit there in silence for a few minutes to process what I'd just heard. An absolute masterpiece IMHO.
Every album of theirs is so deep, emotional, and so real. Garrett lyrics is the BEST in the scene imo. You need check out their first three albums in order. The progression of their sound in the beginning to now is awesome to experience. Also if your wondering, listen to "The Night God Slept" Redux than the original, it has a better mix and has improved vocals from Garrett. Love this band to death
For Terminal, it's definitely the type of song you need to watch the music video for to fully experience it. Knowing the background makes it hit harder too. By itself, it doesn't hit quite as hard as the rest of the album. So glad you checked it out though!
I've really come around to this album, was rather disappointed in it on release but I think I understand its place now. When the End Began is still my favorite, that album is massive and never fails to hit me emotionally. Not as diverse sonically but every there is so much variety in subject matter all revolving around this concept of apocalypses. One of the best albums ever written if you ask me.
Silent Planet will forever be my favourite metalcore band! Every album is a masterpiece!! btw, Second Sun is one of my favourite metalcore songs ever aswell! edit: Terminal is about cancer and quite emotional, I'd recommend reading the lyrics. (lyrics are always recommended with SP tbf haha)
the bass in Panopticon is so chonky, i tend to fixate on it when i'm listening to that song. adore it! this album is easily their best to me, which isn't to say their other albums are BAD. i genuinely love all of their albums!! just Iridescent is next level.
I personally think that Everything Was Sound is even better and their first album is my favorite though I have to add that I discovered them even before they were signed, so I might be biased, lol. Everything Was Sound is an incredible concept album and has the incredible REDIVIDER, which is a word for word palindrome. Blew my mind when I realized that.
Second Sun's chorus is one of my faves in metalcore. You definitely gotta check out The Way It Ends or The Place I Feel Safest by Currents if you haven't already!
Every Silent Planet Album is incredible! My favorite is still Everything Was Sound. You may not like their older stuff quite as much because they lean more into the spoken word poetry stuff but I really like it considering the incredible lyrical content.
Amazing album, but I actually love their album before this “When the End Began” even more. Can’t wait for you to eventually check it out. Also, think you’ll ever check out any of ERRA’s catalogue prior to Cure?
Discovered their album Superbloom a couple of weeks ago! Have already booked tickets to go see them in January with Like Moths to Flames! Both brilliant bands.

i love sp its so hard to say what their best album is, they're all so good and all so different, theme/vibe wise.
If you love their high notes, you should definitely check out the album before this. It's an amazing album with more of such singing too!
