November 2023 here… the dots don’t even show the option anymore… and I am convinced apple is just overloaded the mems for make a few bucks of the subscription model of upgrading cloud storage…. I don’t even remember the last time I took a pic despite this summer being a heavy wedding summer. Yet I have over 57gb in pics and “large attachments” like what…? And I try to go through them one by one and they take forever 😅. I can I can delete all bc I usually save what I want/like but still afraid of the e delete all will wipe what I had missed… which I’m sure I don’t have any but the mind games… 🤙🏻

hii i know it’s been a year but if you’re still having the problem go to the contact who’s stuff is saving in your photos and click their name, you should see “shared with you” turn that off

Neither of the settings you showed exist on my phone. I can't turn off sharing in the photos app, and I can't turn off sharing in the messenger settings.

go to library > all photos > filters > all filters and then you’ll see the option “include..”

Have Apple changed this? I'm trying to do the opposite -- get shared photos to appear, but even though I have that option activated in Settings, there's no option for it when I click "...". Seems like I now have to go to the "For You" tab and can't mix them in with my regular photos. Do you know if this is true or am I missing something?

​@@festive101 Yeah, that's where I was and there's still no option for this. Though right now I'm getting most of the files mixed in anyway. It seems like this feature selectively chooses which photos from texts are "good" ones and doesn't add them all. Like, photos of people get added, but random other photos like of books or objects are being ignored. That's what was throwing me off and making me think it wasn't working. Typical Apple thinking it knows what's best for you! Of course if I wanted to turn *off* this shared photos feature, I'd be out of luck since there's still no option in the menu. *shrugs*
