Fun facts:
•Kokobop Baekhyun is known for the one who catapulted the mullet trend in kpop.
Love him or hate him for it…
he did that. Lol
•Lotto’s heavy autotune is inspired by Latin pop/hip-hop.
•Baekhyun was acting as a sort of double agent for the red force in Monster, thus why we see him observing the fights from afar most of the time, and why he turns off the security cams and shows up at the end disguised in the swat team outfit and breaks them out of the van. But he could be possibly playing both sides, or is actually the X-EXO version of Baekhyun that infuriated the group. But that’s just wild guesses.
•Tempo is the first time we get real hints of the clone storyline. It’s speculated that the EXO in that MV are the successful X-EXO clone experiments, as we them get “scanned in” and see a lot of them glitching to show they aren’t “normal” or “genuine versions” of EXO, and there’s a lot of red seen in the MV. We also see glimpses of the other failed clone experiments trapped behind the white glass.
The storyline and time order is..complicated, but there are good analysis/theory videos that break down what happens when, and explains the main storyline that make it much easier to follow.
•The tempo in Tempo, in fact, does NOT get messed up. Everything else in the song changes around it, but the tempo remains the same. They don’t speed up or slow down out of the original tempo, not even during the acapella bridge. :) (pay attention to the drums/snares, and snaps throughout the song that keep the tempo. If u continue to clap or snap along to that tempo through the whole song you’ll see it never actually changes.) Tempo is THAT queen.
Yup. The last part of ur comment is very spot on. Tempo is manipulative in a way that the song tricks the listeners into thinking that the tempo keeps changing where in fact, it stays the same throughout the song lol. It's the melody, rhythm & style that keeps changing, which lures people into thinking that the tempo changed. It's musically very smart & unironically, follows the catchphrase "don't mess up my tempo" bcus indeed, no one is messing up the tempo lol.
Tempo as a whole is just a musical masterpiece. A mashup of influence from 7 different genres, a lot of layering, tons of adlibs & background vocals, repeated changing of melody & rhythm, a very unique & complex structure & a whole ass acapella bridge. I can write a long ass essay about how great Tempo is, of how this is musically the best EXO's title track & most definitely one of the best kpop song ever. It's just almost unrivaled in how complex & neat Tempo is.

SM told the producer for the track that they wanted a bridge something like Bohemian Rhapsody-which is super ambitious to attempt-but they managed to pull it off without it sounding too similar and keeping it within EXO’s flavor-it’s just-so clever and great.

fun fact: almost all theories about EXO revolve around Baekhyun, since all the fans are confused about his role in each MV ... there's a theory that says that in the concept Baekhyun is the true leader of the EXO universe, since in each MV he shows a very authoritative roll, he is always in the center, on top or somewhere observing as if he were giving orders, (for example: as you could see, Baekhyun in Monster was always in the middle of the table, observing everything, and even saved EXO, in Love Shot at the beginning of the song we can see him at the top, the same with Tempo) besides that his power would be the most essential and "powerful" of all, it's even thought that with his power he can control almost everything and even cause eclipses (according to EXO's concept, the members or "legends" will meet when there's an eclipse ... so it's like Baekhyun is the one to prepare each encounter).
There's another theory that says that Baekhyun is a double agent, maybe he is a double agent who works for EXO and thus spying on the red force, but there's also the possibility that that's the opposite and maybe it's X-Baekhyun (member of X -EXO, or the red force) spying and collecting information about EXO ... for me, the first one makes more sense, I think Baekhyun is a double agent for EXO and is spying and collecting information about X-EXO to regain his powers, or else, why is Baekhyun always saving EXO? that means that Baekhyun isn't bad or X-Baekhyun. I also think that since 2017 with Power MV, since that year EXO's MVs are no longer EXO's, they are actually X-EXO, and that's why we can see Baekhyun spying on them, and thus recover the powers of his companions.
It's believed that the EXO clones come from Lucky One MV, there you can see how the red force captures them to take out their powers, do experiments with them and thus create clones.
There are people who believe that in the Power MV, EXO is fighting against the red force, but clearly it's just X-EXO training with the red force for defeating EXO. So for me the most credible thing is that since 2017 the EXOs of the MVs are actually X-EXO and we don't see the real EXOs again until 2019 with Obsession when they are fighting against their clones.

This is actually why it's so fun being an EXO-L. EXO has the best concept in KPop, in my opinion. Every comeback you would have to come up with theories because all music videos are connected to each other, sometimes the lyrics are too. Also EXO's comebacks are during solar eclipses, which is also connected to their concept. (Baekhyun's power is light so he can control the eclipses. So when Baekhyun activates his power, a solar eclipse happen. The eclipse is like a message to the EXOs to gather together which means a comeback.)
