I am just a foolish mortal who knows nothing of God. I am full of sin and give into temptation everyday of my life. My flesh is weak and my conscience is guilty. Lord, through your grace, have mercy upon me, a sinner. Amen

It was pride that changed angels into devils; it is humility that makes men as angels.

At 62 years old l finally through the grace of the Holy spirit realized that concerning many sins, pride is the one that bears the brunt of them all; pride has carried the flag of sin for literally my entire life and unbeknownst to me l never realized how subtle and illusive it truly is. Very grateful Father Spyridon for your videos.

Abba Xanthias has a good quote that really represents humility. It was "A dog is better than I am, for he has love and does not judge"

      @benjaminsymon 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

If a prayer is dishonest it is not truly humble imo, he needs to be more accurate, these qualities of the greatest dogs are superior to him, but overall he is still far more valuable to god.

We wait for father Spyridon messages to hear him and his teachings, but we let others draw us away from his message those who know nothing of Christ, and you must know why they do this, they comment for one reason and that is to stop you from hearing the message so don't listen to them if you do and reply to them they have achieved what they set out to do. May God bless us all with patience, Amen. Thank you Father Spyridon once again with your words of wisdom, may God bless with His presence always.

Gary Cornwell ...catechesis should never be considered a distraction, but rather, an opportunity. We must always allow the Holy Spirit to answer ignorance with truth. Peace be with you, brother Gary.

This is so critical, ego is one of the biggest sins I, and I suspect many others, struggle with in our modern ego driven culture and this obviously leads to so many other sins. The message in this video is a good medicine for this disease. Thank you Father Spyridon for these videos.

@Father SPYRIDON Bless Father, i was telling my mum that my favorite Sunday is the one of The Publican and the Pharisee. This is odd, she says in the stare looking back at me, I say that this because this is the Saturday I am convinced that I’m the best Christian I can Be. Than this Sunday dawns and bam, every year I realize hard, once again I’ve become the Pharisee. Lord have mercy! This is the Sunday for me and so I name it my Favourite because without it I am at lost. Thank Father as your videos and books feel as though the are written for me.

I read two of your books over the Christmas holidays and both were very helpful. I also particularly appreciate your sermons which I generally respond to with a prayer to the life-giving Trinity. I have sincerely considered my Christian beliefs against the Bible (KJV) and found that, in spite of coming from an Anglican background, I am in fact Russian Orthodox without ever having realised it. The Orthodox hymns sing what my spirit wants to sing, but cannot; the Orthodox prayers pray what my spirit wants to pray, but cannot. All I can say is "Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner". Thank you for all your YT sermons, may your reward in the Kingdom of Heaven be great; meanwhile I urge you to continue labouring in the Lord's vineyard in the way that you do. Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost, now and forever and unto the ages of ages, Amen "Слава Тебе, Господи, за все!"

Saw how this guy was dressed, so I clicked thinking it was going to be a spoof video.
After about 5 seconds, my laugh went away, I shut the hell up, and I listened to this man.
He spoke the truth, now I am ashamed of laughing at him.
I don't know who he is, but he seems like a Hesychast? I would like to say thank you for striking my ego down quickly.

Why does the orthodox Christian cassock (his dress) make you think the video is going to be a 'spoof'?
He is an English orthodox priest serving in the Russian orthodox church (Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, to be precise - ROCOR -)

@@gamayun6102 Yeah I watched several of his videos and he really knows what he's talking about. I admittedly don't know much about Russian orthodoxy, but I've always been fascinated by monastic life and the spiritual benefits that it seems to have towards the practitioners.
The type of awareness that ascetic life seems to foster in these isolated cultures all over the world, to me, seems to be what is sorely lacking in the larger society which most of us participate in.
The simplicity of being made humble, being honest about the need to remove the selfish type of ego that is infecting the hearts of people in these modern times, the wisdom of basic morals, unity, empathy, compassion, kindness, forgiveness...all these virtues seem to be so well learned in monastic communities.
Kinda makes me wish I could sign up... would be great to have personal training on these matters.

M Aside attacking them on a verse that is open to interpretation in different ways (like God’s plan is the highest one), you could use how they whitewash certain figures like King David such as removing the story of his lust-driven conspiracy against his own general, and probably other removals too.
Or the fact that the Pharisees tried (according to them) to get Christ crucified _because_ he was claiming to be God, which is something they say he never did.

o how great humility, o how high it is, though it is low! and i, staring up in admiration and wonder at that sweet, lowly humility, from the pit of diabolical pride which i have dug and continue to dig for myself since my youth, cannot attain to it. o that the Lord would set my feet in the way of humility, and make me firm in that beautiful virtue; o that He would Save me from my pride and self-focus! for, behold, humility is a good thing, and it only can come from the Father of Lights, and not from my deceitfully wicked heart. o grant us humility, God our Saviour, and Save us!
