I've been wanting another cat for 8 years, since I had to leave my last one with my ex, but I've gotten many plants since. I'm ready to throw away my plants and buy new ones if necessary.

    • @suzannebowers8634
      @suzannebowers8634 3 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      @Marc-André Demers: Hopefully you won’t have to throw out those poor plants (unless they’re infested, then, by all means give them a little funeral, maybe play a dirge and call it a day.) Their green leafy lives matter too! 🌱 (No doubt I’ll get some backlash for that one 😬). Maybe they can be re-homed. Nevertheless, it’s a good thing you’re looking into this now before it’s too late. Best of luck for when you find your new furry feline friend. 😻

    • @radiomandelbrot5868
      @radiomandelbrot5868 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@suzannebowers8634 yeah I hate killing plants lol but most people I know already have many. And I've got a couple spider mites that are in control here but could totally infest and devour the rest of the plants of the person I'd give them to. Giving and buying plants when you already have some is extremely risky if you don't have the space to quarantine the new ones and the knowledge to ensure they're not carrying something that could exterminate the others.
      I've seen it happen way too many times.

      It takes about 12 hours for the effects of lily poisoning to kick in. If they get treated before then, they have a high chance of survival. My cat experienced lily poisoning a few months ago; I got him to the vet about two hours after the poisoning and he was completely fine. I bought some of that Whiskas cat milk, thinking "Maybe my cat will like it, as a treat". She hated it. My old cat used to love chocolate milk, but he would only get a tablespoon of it when I was having some. This was back in the very early 00s so everyone were uneducated about cats.
      My current cat LOVES pancakes (the european kind). It's her favourite food and she won't leave me alone when I'm eating it (which is very rare, thankfully). She'll paw at my mouth and things like that. I do give her a tiny bit but not much. I just pinch off a little bit. I have no idea why she loves pancakes so much.

After 10 minutes from applying it, you can wear gloves, so I do. Then it can be washed off after 1 hour. I'll let others know about this from now on. Had never heard of this medicine until it was prescribed to me. Now I'm finding lots of people who use it when I apply it in public. It's truly a miracle drug for arthritic hands!!! Nothing else has ever given me relief, not even the morphine when I was hospitalized after major surgery, my hands still ached. Thank you soo much for sharing this information!!! 😻 I always read the information sheets included from the manufacturers. This does not have any warnings of it's toxicity to pets. • @jpteknoman
      @jpteknoman 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      making it lose weight is easy. buy chicken breast fillets, cut them in pieces that are at about the weight of a small bird and give one piece in the morning and one in the evening raw and have the cat play a lot. no other food, no treats, and ignore any begging. you should add a piece of another type of meat at about the same size every other day for some extra nutrients. cats can survive for a long time with nothing but a single mouse or sparrow a day as food so this amount is more than enough if you get your fat cat to burn the stored fat through exercise.

    • @dorenX
      @dorenX 3 ปีที่แล้ว +37

      jpteknoman I agree with most of your comment, however feeding a cat raw meat is not as simple as giving them pieces of chicken breast. The food needs to be complete and balanced. If you think about it, a mouse that a cat would eat has bones and organs. As a general rule, feeding a cat raw meals should include 80% muscle meat, 10% organs and 10% bones. It is not healthy to feed cats non-complete and non-balanced meals.

      the rest of that diet is terrific. i wonder if cooking in an irin pan imparts a little iron to the to the food? be safe and have a great day! :) 🐈🐾🐈‍⬛🌷🌱

    The point about raw meat is that, yes, cat's can absolutely eat raw meat that's very very fresh, as in a prey that they've just newly killed, but raw meat that's given by a human is a completely different story. Raw meat given by a human has had time to develop all sorts of bacteria, it's not the same as a very fresh kill.

    • @one_smol_duck
      @one_smol_duck 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Yeah, raw meat that's been processed by humans is way different from raw meat from a mouse they've just caught. Hell, we could safely eat significantly more raw meat if it was ultra fresh

    • @evilsharkey8954
      @evilsharkey8954 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The reason we cook meat is because it kills parasites, and humans that didn’t get parasites from eating raw meat tended to pass their genes on to more surviving offspring. Our ancestors have been cooking meat since prehistory. It has nothing to do with processing.
      Cats never stopped eating raw meat in their evolution. Until very recently, they ate rodents, insects, and birds along with human food scraps. Their guys can handle things we can’t. Domestic meat animals in developed countries rarely have the types of endoparasites and pathogens they used to, and humans still contract food borne illnesses mostly from contaminated produce and mishandled poultry. If anything, I suspect the reason not to give cats raw meat like beef or pork is because those aren’t meats cats evolved to eat. House cats didn’t take down pigs or cattle. They’re too rich and fatty.
      Similarly, you shouldn’t feed beef to Venus flytrap. It’s too rich for them, and the traps rot. I had one that ate buffalo wing meat, though.

    • @tookitogo
      @tookitogo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Evil Sharkey What do you mean “until very recently”? Cats still eat rodents, insects, birds (and other critters, too, like rabbits (which aren’t actually rodents!), reptiles, fish, and amphibians). Cats worldwide, even in western countries, kill billions of songbirds every year. They do this even if they have food at home, since cats have a strong hunting instinct.

If the cats like the bread and it seems they do, I don't see anything wrong with it. Jackson is scientifically wrong when he claimed "Yeast in bread will swell up..." Baking kills the yeasts. @Anonny Moose Long ago my ancestors hunted, and when they did they ate not just to survive but they made sure every part of the animal was used. We thanked it for giving its life so we may survive. We thanked Mother Earth for the vegetables we ate. We thanked Father Sky for the air we breathed, and the waters which replenished our bodies. I never waste food, I eat till my fill and no more. I give thanks to the Creator for what I have every day. I respect all things. Life is filled with Balance. It is a necessary thing. Without it nature becomes imbalanced and we suffer for it. The same question can apply to the grain and wheat, potatoes and corn we harvest. What right do we have to just take what Mother Earth provides? It is balance. Things must die so other things can grow, renew. That is how it has always been.

      I'm also a 90s kid but was never confused about milk not being good for cats.
      I'm not sure what motivation you'd have to believe anything you saw on a media outlet (especially since most programs are just for entertainment, not for education. And I'm certain I saw 0 educational programs telling anyone to feed milk to cats), but the idea itself is silly. Why would a cat need milk? Milk is drank by baby animals in the wild, it's a meal specifically made for the young of that species. It doesn't make sense to give it to anyone else. Even most humans are lactose intolerant, it's something like 30% of adult humans that have enough lactase to digest milk, and those are typically concentrated around the areas where cattle have been farmed (i.e. western society).
      But anyways back to main point: Yes the media is full of non-educational information/false information/etc. No education should be based on entertainment.

      @@adriancacencu No. People need more in their life than just their partners such as friends or family which I don’t have. I also am disabled and my partner was working everyday 6-4 and studying 4-8 supporting me. No I don’t need a new bf so don’t act like you know peoples circumstances before telling them they need a new relationship lmao

    From a fishing family here. Back in the day, my family had several cats that only consumed fresh fish, or at least it was their main source of food. According to those examples it was not a problem. However, they were outdoor cats and it is not possible to know what else they had in their diets as we also had a small farm on the property and they worked as pest control.

    My kitten is obsessed with bread so we have to keep it locked up. She also stole some chickpeas out of my salad when I was getting something from the refrigerator. I'm hoping she grows out of having to sample everything. We found her at five weeks so maybe not being with mom long enough is the issue.

      I just had the same problem last night with my new 7-month-old cat - his first time in the house at night unsupervised - I woke up to my sourdough bread torn open and eaten. This cat is a scavenger!

      If she is "obsessed" with getting some kind of food, it might mean she has food cravings. And that might mean that her diet is lacking something, or there is some underlying medical problem. You should discuss that with the vet, and maybe ask the vet whether some kind of higher nutrition diet is appropriate.

      @@janettesimone4088 - they are also attracted to plastic. If bread is in a plastic bag, they will attack the plastic bag. Apparently, it is shiny and they like that.
