You really outdid yourself with this comparison man. Great dialogue and compositions to showcase both cameras. In short, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is the closest phone to DSLR quality and controls with a variable aperture main lens and supporting lenses. I'm extremely anticipating the 15 Ultra and I think this is the year to pull the trigger on purchasing a Chinese phone. Even the new finish is unique amongst the competition. It's a race between Xiaomi and Vivo in my opinion when it comes to smartphone photography.
HI! This is a wonderful video! A real and deep comparison between the Laica camera and the Xiaomi Laica camera, which shows and gives us a comparison that the Xiaomi 14 Ultra really has as real a Laica camera as a Laica camera built into a mobile phone can give, and the Xiaomi 14 ultra, so very similar photos to the Laica camera itself and it conveys very well the essence of the recordings and the real feelings that are captured on the spot at that moment and the natural naturalness, where nothing is overly smoothed over with artificiality and it is wonderful! I am so looking forward to the new Xiaomi 15 Ultra and I hope that it has even more Laica camera! The Xiaomi 14 ultra camera is a wonderful and real Laica camera and there is enough of that in it, compared to how small the camera part of the phone itself is, which has to accommodate as much Laica camera as possible! Thank you for this amazing video and the work that you did in putting this video together! thank you!
I think the 13 ultra did better when it comes to deeper blacks over the 14u. when i compare the two the 14u tends to shoot a little brighter. i tend to lower the exposure by a little to compensate for that
This comparison would be great if there were some more devices like Xiaomi 14u, Xiaomi 13pro orultra, and the latest 14t series ,and the night and day photography 😊.But you had put some nice efforts for this video mate :) .
I think you can get extremely close in term of look with the Xiaomi if you use customised photographic style in pro mode. You can increase the tone for more contrast and reduced the texture for softer less processed, raw files look. You also can apply natural filter on top of it to get more tone down colours. I have Xiaomi 13T. It has Leica collaboration as well. I love to play around with this mode in comparison to the auto one. I think I can recreate some of the Leica vibes and look with it.
Interesting comparison and great video. It would be useful to know what settings you have on the Xiaomi. I take photos with the xiaomi 14 ultra and always have HDR turned off and the EV set to -0.3. The results can even be partially compared with my M10-P. No halo effects, contrasts are very identical, details on the main lens are unmistakable, low-light shots even have better noise characteristics. The only thing I miss with the 14 Ultra is the ability to shoot 50MP raw on all 4 lenses. This is only possible with the main lens if I'm not mistaken. Keep it up!
Fantastic video.... difficult for Xiaomi to balance "normal" smartphone photography against the real camera feel Leica can give you.... .from a commercial point of view and today's expectations from the buying public. However I'm a big fan of their colour science in general and maybe they'll get even closer with the 15 ultra.
yeah agreed! My plan is to show the public that not all is about that "perfect" shot that often comes at a cost of what is beautiful about photography!
I have a Pixel 7 with 1/1,3" sensor, if I work around the google processing and editing raws in LR I get quite nice results in good light. But when comparing to Ricoh GRIIIx, it' has not only double resolution, but way sharper at pixel level, Pixel 7 has lot of moire issues, worse dynamic range, less contrast, lot of flare and contrast loss from direct light. So in ideal situation phone can deliver quite good images, but overall no comparison against aps-c sensor and a decent lens combination.
Hi Jermaine, I did a fair bit of research between how much hardware, software or marketing integration was involved with Leica, Haselbalad and Zeiss. It was really difficult to read between the marketing lines but I did find out that Leicia do produce their own camera phone lenses so its likely that these or replicas are on the Xiaomi as well as colour science filters. Haselblad was by far the thinnest with I think only colour science and Zeiss looks to be providing lens coating science and colour science. I guess its a bit hopefull to be buying a camera phone and expecting a mini Haselbad but thats what the marketing would have us believe and was central to my own desired feature. I did however buy the Vivo x100 Ultra based on camera results in the end up and of course its excellent.
yeah very possible! Now with Ziess we do know a bit more about it because we seen some video's with the lens structeres being made to scale for mobile phone compared to what they do in their lenses!
