She definitely can get lost. My Virginia disappeared on my way back from the trip around the map. Funny enough, last time I've seen her I already got the GPS locator and was about to give it to her but I forgot to do so and after a while she was gone forever.

I don't know if that is permanent option but i managed to close the door by puting the paper shooting target on it :D the canibals was not able to open the door anymore :D
You can put items on a hotkey (1,2,3.... and so) just went with the mouse over the item on the bagpack and push the button u want the item on. You dont see on the first time but when u leave the crafting menu the items are on the Hotkeys
In winter season, you can build a base on a frozen lake, which will last even when winter is over. Thanks to zip lines you can enter and leave the base with no problem, while enemies stay out for 3/4 year. To avoid attacks on your base in coming winters (when the lake is frozen again) you can install defense systems like sticks in the ice which you sharp with your axe after placing them. Your enemies will kill themselves when done correctly. This will also provide an easy way to get some food during the cold time (even when you realise at that moment, that you, too, are a cannibal). A locked door can be realized by putting a stick on your installed door. But enemies will destroy your door to enter your house. Using zip lines, take care to install them on trees, because enemies will destroy everything that isn't 100% natural. If you connect a zip line to a simple log which you may place because there is no tree around, you may loose your good rope because some enemy destroyed the log. Of cause you can protect your zip line carrying log with spikes, but that costs ressources and time. Fighting mutants, I'm not sure but I think that a torch is your best weapon. Set those creeps on fire multiple times will kill most of them really quick.
I don't use the backpack to switch items and I'll tell you why...In SPM, when you open your inventory, it stops the game (time continues to elapse) so let's say you're very low on health simply press I and enemies will not be able to attack you so long as they're not in their attack animations already. While in your inventory, you can eat to recover hp and leave it open while the hp bar fills up then, when full, you can go back to your business. Very handy...ESPECIALLY ON HARD MODE.
@@jaobidan2358 I meant why not just play in normal if you are going to use methods to make it easier. Just play normal and don't use those methods. Literally able to stop time
Another tip : if you have two log equip and you are trying to build a bench, the first step of the build will be totally free, you can abuse this to get unlimited wood.
You anyway need a tarp shelter at base just to mark it as your base on a map. Other structures that offer save and sleep, does not visible on map. So easy to get lost after you climb out from cave and try navigate this map without a North mark, and base is invisible.
Here’s a really good tip that comes over from the first game! Bird nests spawn feathers for you. You can get up to 20 feathers in a few minutes without effort. You can spend this time building, hunting, or raiding and you can come back with enough feathers to create a plentiful amount of arrows.
Hi, just ran into this video, this might be already known, however some people still might not know this, hot bar 1-0 already exists from first release, You just have to go to your inventory, hover over an item and press number You want to assign to that item, no need to use backpack, this is mostly useful for weapons, however it can be assigned to consumables as well.
One tip I felt so dumb for not knowing, you can put sticks face up in the ground then hit them with your axe and it pushes the stick outward along with turning the blunt stick into a spike. So in the situation where you're having enemies that keep coming from a certain direction you can put spikes along that area, while pairing that zone with traps.
There's a duplication glitch for the drying rack btw. I mainly get some fish, and when you go to hang them up, click as fast as you can. You'll end up putting two fish on, while only using one. Same for the campfire
@Scoobs you hold E to enter the menu, but when the pack is in your view, you have to click on the object to cook it. The food will be piled up, you just click super fast to bug out the game. It works about 65% of the time, as the timing is a little tricky, but you can just keep doing this without needing to hunt. Makes it easier for those of us who built in hard areas
For some reason (might just be in multiplayer) but Virginia drops the gun and it comes back to my inventory. And when me and my cousin enter a cave she and sometimes Kelvin (Kelvin doesn’t move if you put him on stay) just ends up leaving the base and appearing somewhere else on the map. Most often around where we exit the cave. Although Virginia has sometimes just gone of to the helicopter crash (we have the forest one) and stayed around that area. It’s starting to get annoying but I can live with it
@@Darkplasma26 I hope they add some sort of commands for Virginia and both better ai. My Virginia went to a spot and stays there for few in game days now. When i went to visit here she runs towards me like nothing happened, and when i go back to my base she just goes back to the same spot... But before she acted normal and suddenly this happened...
@@SpankZorOwnsYa Yeah I think the same they really need to add Virginia commands. I was talking to my cousin yesterday and I told him about a few things I need added.

8:02 if youre reading this during the 1.0 patch, just whip out a stick and somthing should pop up where you can lock the door. but still guard your base properly.
if you are playing multiplayer and farming creepy armor, all players can cut the mutants at the same time so everybody gets armor from the same body. as soon as the first person finishes cutting the mutant, no one is able to do it anymore
Using a "hot key backpack" can cause your game to freeze so I wouldn't recommend using it unless you keep saving your progress frequently. Sleeping over doesn't let you skip the seasons. I've spam slept for 250 days and the winter hasn't gone. I then loaded the same save and played normally and the snow was gone after a few real life hours. But overall, nice tips! Definitely gonna try some of these.
Also in multiplayer with friend you can dupe items when he saves, gives you items then reconnects. A nice way to walk around with shotgun and tons of ammo.
my friend and i killed kelvin and virginia in the first 3 days, i thought virginia was a cannibal so i chased her down with the starter axe... and as for kelvin, well... my mate blew him up
I have a question that I haven’t found an answer to yet. How do you repair damage done to the premade buildings? I have a log cabin Pre-made that had its door ripped off and I can’t figure out how to replace it.
Also i might add a very very important tip, that'll make your life oh so much easier. I play on hard and Fingers are literally pain in me arse. But! Make 5 spears, see the finger, toss 4 into it's body or head and with your remaining spear, thrust into it's legs, it'll stunblock it and while it's stunned you can recover your spears you tossed and keep stabbing it, until your stamina runs out, get some distance and fill our finger boy with spears again and when you're going to stabby stabby, you will kill it easily. Also it's manageable with two or three fingers, just wee bit more running around. Also! Those weeping/sleepwalking cannibals in the cave drop creepy armor, as well as all the mutants. If you have 10 on you and 10 in inventory, you're pretty tanky and do 3-5 caves without worrying. Also modern axe is life saver against babies and weeping cannibals.
you can equip hotkeys. if you hover over an item in your inventory, you will see a grey box. press a number you want that item to be bound to, and itll confirm it in the grey box.
for ammo management I found a great way to get feathers. First off if you kill a seagull, you can hit it a few more times to get more feathers to spawn. Now if you got the beach spawn, there is a spot just on the coast where like 6 or 7 seagulls spawn. Just chuck a grenade in the middle of them and I got around 70 feathers.
Build a birdhouse and use your spear to kill the birds that land on it. Try not to hit the birdhouse, unless their inside of it. When it breaks just build another as sticks are bountiful.
@@MRFIGGZ-ir3vm no it isn't. The bird cage only gives like 5 feathers a day compared to getting hundreds of feathers in a few minutes from the starting beach seagulls.
I built my base on stilts(or struts). cannibals have never gotten in and in some cases I just crouched and hid inside my base and they ran around and checked stuff out but never jumped/climbed inside my house. cannibals can potentiall knock it down but there are tons of support beams underneath and they'd have to get damn near all of them. I left the redundant ones underneath instead of taking them out once the ceiling is done inside. they are pretty much sitting ducks under there, i also had a redman get stuck under the base once. then i use one diagonal full-log near an opening (from floor to level 1 for running up, i'm current testing using a staircase with only 2 steps spaced out to see if cannibals can still use it to climb in. Otherwise I did a 3 story rope ladder but you can't carry logs up there if you're trying to make a very tall base w/o stairs.
Can you do a video for beginner tips on a controller? It’s not very intuitive, Or atleast I’m struggling with it. See lots of good stuff about it but struggling to get into it. I play on steam deck
If you play with a friend and you are the host, he can save and place all the stuff he has on the shelves and leave and reload and have all the stuff back but it still being on the shelves and can repeat this for more item choices per relog. I think they will fix this soon, not just this but the whole respawning of loot on game exit.
I`d say that the respawn loot with save/quit/load is on purpose since the gama isn`t finished yet and there is little to no sources for some items like cloth or ropes.
1-9- hotkey is already present but I can't figure out how to swap items by using the mousewheel. Also, you cna lock the door with sticks but not worth it as foes can easily break in. Build indoor access to base roof instead.
@@scapegoat8171 sled in 3d printer is i think for you sliding down the mountain slopes at winter. as turtle shells could be used in first game. but i dont think 3d printer sled can be used for logs. in first game you would make a sled with sticks, put bunch of logs on it, and then drag the sled back to your base. much quicker transportation of more than two logs at a time. its probably not in game because they didnt work out the dragging stuff on the ground
Im at day 85 and ive never found my experience to be difficult at all, you can OS every cannibal with 1 arrow to the head only the mutants are a little bit challenging sometime but only when they are in group of atleast 4 or 5 and more and even then if you die you can just reload your save and better prepare. Something that i find odd tho is that you can put your bow on the backpack but not the arrows...do you neeed a quiver? Is there a quiver?
you can asing hotkeys to item by opening inventory and when you get your mouse over your item then hold the number. For example you open your inventory get your mouse to axe and hold 1. After that you can use 1 as axe.
Not sure if this just got added but you can hotkey axe or other items. Just have to hover over the item and tap the number you wanna hot key it to and the box that shows when hovered over the item will indicate it’s hot keyed. Not sure if this is commonly known or was recently added. Cheers, thanks for video.
Say you have been attacked by 5-7 cannibals and killed first 5 with arrows. While you will be killing last two, first 5 may simply despawn ALONG with your arrows.
DO NOT SKIP SEASONS ! On day 1 there is regular enemies in caves...on day 50 there are 4-5 mutants with 10+ canibals.....u dont want to go empty handed in that horde....also.....they will start to spawn outside caves and raids are going to be much difficult from canibals....
Awesome Tips Video 04AM!!! Has anyone figured out how to use traps on the big cannibals? They do not trigger Fly Swatter or Bone Maker Traps that I can tell. I am hoping they are just bugged and will eventually work on them.
@@Revenant483 Haha that's true, but John 2.0 is still worse than the titan. 🤣 I've already had John 2.0 visit my base 3 times, well I have a watchtower and I could kill it with mollies and grenades or throw spears in the head... And I've also had a group of babies a few times at my base
around the map there’s really big open areas that are amazing for bases, there might be cannibals but i destroyed the nearby camps and i never get attacked now
You can add items to ur “hot bar” obviously there is no actual hot bar but if u go into ur inventory you can hover over an item and click 1-0 to assign it to a number
to lock the doors you can equip a Stick and put it on the door you made . and you will make a door lock to lock and unlock . but careful . if your house is incomplete and lock the door and jump off from another side . you might need to rebuild the door because you cant unlock it from outside
"You're not going to order a well done steak in a restaurant, that would be a true crime." Yeah definitely, don't you dare ruin my rotten meats by burning it! 😂
Some changes since this video: You can lock doors - equip a stick and look at your door, an arrow should appear to indicate applying it as a lock They stopped the sleeping/season hack by making it so you can only sleep when tired
I hope they add random events like you wake up in the morning and the cannibals kidnapped Kelvin in the night and you have to find his tracker and rescue him before they eat him lol
There's a chainsaw. Awesome weapon and tree cutter. A cannibal has it. Not sure of location but he's near an open field with a short red triangular flag, like a golf flag. Eliminate it to acquire its chainsaw. Apparently, it's also in a cave not far from the beach, a little ways off a trail leading away from the river. Someone else made a video on how to find it there. You'll need the maintenance key and vip key cards. It's a tiny cave not marked on the map.
You won't level up strength with that. After using an axe for 40 days, I can one shot normal cannibals and mutants go down in seconds. Don't neglect your strength
@@davidt1621 The strength meter is located left to the thirst meter, the one with the flexing arm. Strength meter goes up when you hit something and the progress is red color
so I tried the fly swatter trap but it doesn’t seem to work. Whenever a deer tries to run or walk by it doesn’t trigger the trap. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Best defense of base is 3-4 rows of sharpened sticks in ground at angle. (1 or 2 rows they can easily jump over with sprint). Leave space between rows so you can walk in there, but not more. In that manner you will create a wide area which they cannot jump over. Best if there somewhere will be a larger stone, which can be as your "door". Kelvin and girl can jump over these sticks without harm.
binding items from 0-9 is pretty cool but they DEFENATLY should bring ANY kind of hud to it. I want to destroy my "immersiv" setting by adding more hud and lower those we got. I absolutly need this 🤩🤩

@@NellyDoby I was trying to do exactly that when you posted this reply and it worked! I copied Kelvin's coordinates and she was there when I loaded the game and went back to my base :)
@@28worior Once you put the locator on her, you'll see she'll sometimes run off to a place of importance to hang around for a couple days. She'll take you to hidden ones if you follow her after she gestures you too.
@@buffaloSoldier519 yeah once I did it I see now that that's exactly what happened. She went to the place of interest and decided to stay there forever. Hope this gets patched soon.
It wasn't a feature when this video was released, they added it later ^^
they put that in an update.
Great tips Sasha, thanks for sharing!
@@Tyler-Bravo That's the only mode i play on lol

Another tip : if you have two log equip and you are trying to build a bench, the first step of the build will be totally free, you can abuse this to get unlimited wood.
About to try this
Yeah most structures give you free wood. End night are noobs
@@TransitionedToAShark do you realise that this will be patched, right?
Have you noticed anything negative happen to your game by doing this?
@@Wolltazar yeah for sure
You anyway need a tarp shelter at base just to mark it as your base on a map. Other structures that offer save and sleep, does not visible on map. So easy to get lost after you climb out from cave and try navigate this map without a North mark, and base is invisible.
Here’s a really good tip that comes over from the first game!
Bird nests spawn feathers for you. You can get up to 20 feathers in a few minutes without effort. You can spend this time building, hunting, or raiding and you can come back with enough feathers to create a plentiful amount of arrows.
To get a lot of wood, just tell kelvin to clear a 20 meter area, then run a zip line from the woods to your log storage areas
Yes, its in the survival book....
You can also add 3 stones on them to make them alot more durable
There's a duplication glitch for the drying rack btw. I mainly get some fish, and when you go to hang them up, click as fast as you can. You'll end up putting two fish on, while only using one. Same for the campfire
Same for building furniture you duplicate the wood you used
What do you mean by click as fast as you can? You have to hold E.
@@BiasedGrunt ah okay ty.

If you hit a bird after you kill it, you'll get more feathers. Also, you can hotbar an item by hovering your mouse over it and pressing 1, 2, 3, ect.
8:02 if youre reading this during the 1.0 patch, just whip out a stick and somthing should pop up where you can lock the door. but still guard your base properly.
I almost thought that i was alone playing this game with all those 1 year ago comments XD
if you are playing multiplayer and farming creepy armor, all players can cut the mutants at the same time so everybody gets armor from the same body. as soon as the first person finishes cutting the mutant, no one is able to do it anymore
It's fixed now
@@dwynedx oh good to know that
Also in multiplayer with friend you can dupe items when he saves, gives you items then reconnects. A nice way to walk around with shotgun and tons of ammo.
Thank you for this video guide, I was wondering how to use the GPS locator
make sure you get the zipline / ropegun first. so you can zipline from place to place. really nice and it feels like a big forrest park
An great tip insted of the quick invenotory. Just hover over an weopon or item in your inventory and press 1-0 on your keyboard to assign a keybind.
And another thing. Use a stick on the flat side of the door to make a lock
my friend and i killed kelvin and virginia in the first 3 days, i thought virginia was a cannibal so i chased her down with the starter axe... and as for kelvin, well...

I need some fellow dads to play this with on steam!
Btw you can hit the birds 2 more times after killing them to get more feathers
Only the bigger birds
Yes - that's very usefull - and when you spend an hour at the beach you get 150 feathers and can ignore that for one week. :)
I have a question that I haven’t found an answer to yet. How do you repair damage done to the premade buildings? I have a log cabin Pre-made that had its door ripped off and I can’t figure out how to replace it.
you can try making the answer repair tool, but idk if it can bring back a door?
You have to replace it with new logs if it’s gone. You can also try splitting the log down the middle first and placing it in the spot
@@johnjohn___ no it does nothing when I try
@@Dysfunctional_psycho The grid for building the premade is gone because it was finished so I can’t just slot a new one in there.
@@ElektroBandit89 just split a log in 2 vertically and place it where the door should be :) (you need 3 half logs)
This video was pre update, no hotkeys at the time.
@@bayernsa now there are tho. so im telling others.
for ammo management I found a great way to get feathers. First off if you kill a seagull, you can hit it a few more times to get more feathers to spawn. Now if you got the beach spawn, there is a spot just on the coast where like 6 or 7 seagulls spawn. Just chuck a grenade in the middle of them and I got around 70 feathers.
It’s better if you craft a bird cage. It automatically drops feathers for you
Build a birdhouse and use your spear to kill the birds that land on it.
Oh yeah... just use a nade for a handful of feathers.... good one.....
@@lethalsmoke You do not start on that beach every time... Bird cage is prob the only option without cheesing if you dont start on that beach.
You can stock up on small rocks and pre-processed foods by building shelves, idk about storing weapons
yes! u can store weapons n ammunation. I . . . store too much shotgun ammo and I'm currently hunting deer with it cuz idk what else use it for
@@Pab-1337 No you can't store weapons, only ammo, nades, mollies, time bombs.
Same bug as in The Forest
I`d say that the respawn loot with save/quit/load is on purpose since the gama isn`t finished yet and there is little to no sources for some items like cloth or ropes.
1-9- hotkey is already present but I can't figure out how to swap items by using the mousewheel. Also, you cna lock the door with sticks but not worth it as foes can easily break in. Build indoor access to base roof instead.
Good tip for building. Even though the log sled isn't in the game, you can still use the zip lines to send logs down to where you're building
didnt play the first game, so dont know how the log sled worked. but there is a sled you can make at the 3d printer. no idea how to use it though.

There's a chainsaw. Awesome weapon and tree cutter. A cannibal has it. Not sure of location but he's near an open field with a short red triangular flag, like a golf flag. Kelvin and girl can jump over these sticks without harm.
reinforce the sticks with rocks as well
You can key bind by hoveringover the item in your inventory and hitting your desired number key

logs will automatically go into log storage if they collide with them, this also works with throwing them from holding them.
