Thank you for these yearly videos - our family really appreciates them! I watched it until the end. Thank you for taking the time to link all of your resources. We’re looking forward to trying some out next year!
Your homeschool videos are some of my favorites! I wish you could make more! 😁 But I understand how hard it is to find the time to do them! I would love to see an update on how you are liking your choices, and a weekly lesson planning video! Im very intrigued in how you schedule the two math programs.
Hi! That is so sweet of you, thank you! I wish I could make more too but as you mentioned it really is hard to find the time and energy to do so when I am already at my capacity with homeschooling, mom life and running my business in this season of my life with 2 small children. Each video takes many many hours to film and edit, so they are a labor of love! This is why I usually just post my annual homeschool haul video ha! It does motivate me to want to make more when there is an interest and request and I love to video recommendations! I wrote them down so when I can make more, I have some ideas to draw from! Thank you for watching!! xx
Thank you for taking the time to share! Our kids are the same age and we’re also big fans of G+C and Little School of Smiths. I’m doing my best to stay patient and saving Sequence 1 for my oldest’s second grade year, and doing the Primer program together this upcoming year. Sequence 1 looks so good though, and I’d love to see a mid year/end of year review when you’re done. I love seeing your picks and will be checking out “A Reason For.”
You're so welcome! So fun our kids are the same age! Love hearing your insight into how you'll be using G+C! Yes it will be interesting to see how we go through Sequence 1! I can see us going through it more slowly because learning all 50 states in one year PLUS the history is a lot!! :) So we always do the best we can! :)
It's so true! Also so much learning takes place through play or during conversations or reading! My kids love to ask questions while driving in the car and it's a great time for us to chat about whatever they're interested in! Such as why is the sky blue? They keep me on my toes!! :)
Please keep making these videos! They are so awesome and helpful. My toddler is a little younger than your kids but it gives me great insight on what I want to add during our homeschool year.
Thank you so much for letting me know!! If you have any homeschool video requests / topics you'd like to see in a video please let me know! Helps me plan content ideas! :) Also, if you have not watched my Kindergarten curriculum video you may enjoy it as well! th-cam.com/video/mrld_n45UZA/w-d-xo.html
I love your curriculum videos so much! It is so inspiring and I love all the detail that you share with us! Thank you for taking the time to share! I watched all the way through!
Thank you so much for sharing this with me!! It makes me so happy to hear that these videos are helpful!! Yay for watching all the way through, thank you! xx
You're so welcome!! Thank you for the thank you!! This video did take me many days from filming to editing it all together ha! But worth it! So fun to connect with other homeschooling moms and hopefully provide a good insight into these programs / resources!
Thank you for your videos! It's so fun to see what other homeschool mamas are doing and getting fun new ideas. We LOVE the Little Pilgrims Progress and I'm sure your family will too. I have a 5 and 3 year old and we started with Little Pilgrims Big Journey and I would Highly recommend this series before starting the Little Pilgrims Progress. I defiantly don't think you have to, but LPBJ is another great option for the littlest pilgrims. Thanks again!
Oh I'm so happy you left this comment! I was just seeing another mama share about LPBJ and was wondering how it relates / differs from Little Pilgrims Progress! Any thoughts you have on that would be so wonderful. It sounds like reading LPBJ first would be ideal for younger children?
Thank you for watching! I do not post my kids faces on social media or put them in my content often... so I'm not sure how I'd visually show our school day! Would it still be interesting if I just talked about our school day rhythm?
This was so helpful :) can you make a video of your home school schedule and routine during the week, month and year especially with your little guy - thank you !!! 😊
I love alphabet acorns for learning letters, letter sounds and an object that starts with the letter. Thinking of giving mcguffy readers a try to advance our skills
I just found McGuffy readers at our local used book store and bought them! So far we are enjoying them. Some of the stories are a little confusing to my daughter and they advance quickly. However, we have been integrating them at the moment and we'll so how long we use them for!
Loved this so much!! A lot of great book recommendations I picked up today! I would LOVE love love to see what your realistic homeschool day looks like, like a full day in the life. That would be so helpful to me!!
Thank you so much! I don't share my kids on social media and I don't like to film them too much while we are doing school as I find it's distracting and I really want us to focus on their education :) So I'm not sure how I'd visually capture this! But I'd be happy to create a video where I talk through our schedule and daily rhythms! :) Let me know if that is of interest :)
Loved everything you shared! My oldest is in public school but absolutely loves learning, so I feel like the Good and The Beautiful math might be fun for her to just do at home. I’ve also never even heard of the Draw Write Now books! Ordering them asap ❤ And will reference this video again as I prep my 3.5 year old for some tot school / pre school at home. Thank you again!
I watched the whole thing and I loved the in-depth explanation of everything you use! I am hoping to start homeschooling my daughter and son next year (K and preschool 3) and they are very hands on so it was extremely helpful to see the different curriculum you use but also it is a biblical worldview!
Great resources thank you!! I went ahead and got dash into reading since they said tis a full reading program. We were also doing Good and Beautiful but will pause that for the summer. I’m using a combination of Dash into reading and the Montessori Wabseca reading program!
I watched all the way thru! Thank you! I have 2 boys, same ages/grades starting in the fall and this will be my first year homeschooling both of them! This was very helpful as I have been going crazy I feel like tryin to decide what curriculum is best for them. If you have a daily schedule that you could share that would be amazing! Thanks so much!!
Thank you so much for watching! I'm so glad you found it helpful! I've received a lot of requests for schedule organization, so I may make a video about that! :)
I watched all the way to the end, I’m doing kinder/1st grade with my daughter in August and it will be my first year after she’s been in prek for two years we’ve she seems advanced in language arts so I’m planning to have to adapt a bit as we go. It’s a lot to sort through so long videos are helpful!
Thank you for watching! Kinder and 1st grade are such fun years! Homeschooling is a wonderful way to support an advanced child for the very reason you mentioned of being able to adapt and customize her education! I find that The Good and The Beautiful is quite advanced, I believe they even mention that, so it's a great program that has kept my daughter (who I also feel is advanced) challenged, engaged and still having fun with learning!
Oh I'm so glad it's been helpful! So wise to do lots of research! Also know that once you get started you may also change your mind about what you want to do based on what's working / what isn't working for you and your daughter! Thea beauty of homeschool is the freedom to make choices and changes!
I’m definitely doing that 100 chart of books for the summer ❤ awesome job mom and yes i watched it to entirety .. great to do chores to and I stopped and added things to my cart 😂
Thank you so much!!! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video and found it helpful!! That's so great you're going to do the 100 chart of books for summer too, it's really fun!
Great video! Are you able to speak on why having an extra writing and reading program when already using the Good and the Beautiful LA curriculum. I was thinking it covered most of that already. Thanks in advance 😊
There is a little bit of writing in the GATB lessons but not enough in my opinion to practice and be strong in penmanship! So an extra workbook for writing practice is great! The GATB does come with books to compliment the program and the booster reading cards and of the course the lessons teach reading and letter sounds / blends etc. However, I find that what has really helped my daughter develop her reading skills and be a strong reader is having a lot of books at home that she can read at each level she is ready for!
This was so very helpful! This will be our first time homeschooling. I would love to see a video on your schedule and how you log your record keeping. (If you do) Do you keep a binder for yourself?
Thank you so much for the video requests! I may make a video on how we plan our schedule since I get a lot of requests for this! For record keeping, we are part of a homeschool charter school and we log our attendance and what we are learning with our charter :)
Hi Megan I just discovered your channel from your hyperthyroidism video. I’m also struggling with that because my father has hyperthyroidism too so it’s pretty clear he passed it onto me. How did you decide to still have kids? How did you deal with possibly feeling like it was selfish to still have kids even if they might inherit that disease from you? I’m not really sure if I want to do that anymore if it means passing on these health issues
This is the most helpful walkthrough I’ve seen yet, thank you! Question: if Sequence 1 is for 1st-3rd grade, do you just repeat everything 3 years in a row? How does that work?
Thank you so much! Wow great question! I haven't thought that through yet exactly! I know that for the primer program I have used it for multiple years revisiting certain stories, books, manner and verses etc. So maybe I will do that for Sequence 1 too! I may span the geography over Year 1 and Year 2 because learning all 50 states for year 1 seems a bit much for me! This upcoming year I envision more of introducing all 50 states, reading books about U.S. geography and focusing on just a few states in depth that she is already familiar with such as the state we live in and a few more. Then in year 2 building upon that! But we'll see as we go! Same with the history! We'll do the best we can and we may break it up over 2 years! Maybe it would be helpful if I shared a mid-year review video too? I could share how the programs we are using are going, any changes, thoughts or updates to our routine! Let me know if that would be helpful! :)
@@HealthyGroceryGirl thanks for taking time to reply! ❤️ I like that approach, doing some of it now and circling back more in depth the next year. So freeing… I forget sometimes we can use curricula however what we want! 😂 on the flip side, too much freedom is scary for me, so thanks for making these videos on what you’re thinking through! I would for sure watch a “how it’s going” review if you ever do one. Thanks!
