Right on Jeff! You're finally at a spot I used to frequent! I found nuggets and 6 morgan silver dollars up the where El Doradoville was before being washed away by the flood. Lots of good spots up there! And yesss I did get wet! Nice video!
Hey Jeff. Just wanted to say thank you for these videos! They're the perfect mix of entertainment and education. My 3 year old daughter started saying "C'mon let's go!" all the time after she saw one of your videos. Love it! :)
My 6 yr old daughter and I love all your videos. We bought pans and practice dirt. We found a few small pieces. No we live in Greensboro, NC and are searching for a creek to pan on. She loves this life. Thanks to you and Slim. We are your students and fans. Thanks again.
+Patrick Taylor Thanks...we love to hear that and tell your daughter that me and Slim say......." Howdy " . That is really great to hear and the quality time is Gold right there. If you ever need help......let us know, that is why we are here. Jeff and Slim
Jeff you really GOT ME GOIN' by finding these bits in the San Gabriel. So much gold, so little time! I'm a trucker and carry my gear with me, but looking forward to the San Pedro Mountains in Santa Fe County, New Mexico.
It's funny because you never spend that much time up there, and you got more gold, and bigger pieces than people that spend week after week up there trying. Nice job Jeff!
+RoadTripVidz Iwould say we were there most of the day and the secret to that Gold is in the beginning of the video . If you noticed I climbed up above the bedrock and if you know that spot ...what is directly above that area.........That's right. Clues everywhere. Lol. Jeff and Slim
***** It was a big deal for you to visit those guys in that canyon, I know Larry, and Ferguson are big fans. Hope you make it out to CA for more gold huntin' again soon. And yep, I know that area very well... you were on the gold.
I grew up in Azusa. I used to live right below Sierra Madre E/O Azusa Ave. I even worked at Morris Dam. The first dam as you go up the canyon. Azusa Cyn used to be my back yard. Great vid! Thumbs up!
This is by far one of your best videos, and I have watched at least 70 of them! Detailed geology information, mine safety, prospecting tips, tricks and techniques along with a chance to win GOLD! The production value has been reaching professional levels and I anticipate a new segment while watching the latest available. Thanks for the countless hours of education and entertainment. P.S. I found Slim the other day, he was in Murphys California Pokey, taking a time out. More details to come, my source has evidence....

Hi Jeff, Thanks for sharing your interesting adventure to the East Fork in search of Gold. Your right about this area being full of interesting history. Enjoyed your narrative of "The Bridge To Nowhere" and miners working the benches above the river. Say hi to Silver Spurs Lila, Pops, Nevada Jack, and of course old grumpy Slim. Take Care my busy friend, see ya soon!
Thanks Jeff. I have spent the last two years up there. Have even been asked to explain prospecting to my sons classmates. The look on those kids faces when I show them the gold I found on the East Fork, is priceless. They thought gold miners are old dirty grumpy hermits. Then I show up and explain the science behind it. Physics, chemistry, geology, and hydrology, not to mention land navigation and map reading. They are amased that the 49ers (1849) were so start.
+Danny Schmutzer I know huh ....we love to see that too and to us that is the real Gold . We want them to learn so it is not forgotten and maybe spark interest in them. Jeff and Slim
Jeff, went up there for the first time prospecting ever. It was beautiful up there. We even ran into "Robert" and he gave us some good pointers on where to dig and look. I brought my 7 year old boy with me and we had a blast. Didn't get much gold, but had fun nonetheless. Thanks again for all the videos. We have learned a lot from you and Slim. Take good care, Chris and Wyatt
+Chris Taylor Hi Chris and Wyatt, That sounds great and yes Robert is good people. Wow sounds like fun, we like the benches and coyote holes. It is always our pleasure and we are glad you and your son got a chance to get out enjoy the country and do a little mining with ssomeone that knows the area. Take Care my friend. Jeff and Slim
That was great to see how you prospect for clues and find gold out there Jeff. You must be one of the fittest guys out there! Keep up the good work and keep the gold finding vids coming! Cheers from Down Under
Yes another great video! Alan is the man for sure. Alan and Robert helps people all the time by sharing their knowledge with others! I would pay good money to watch you fall in the river LOL. Take care buddy and thanks for calling in on the show last Sunday! Oh I can see your being careful running down the hill lmao. When on GPS check out the old mining pictures group I have posted lots there! I like the old pictures. Later, Ron Yes hi to Slim and Nevada jack

Robert Ferguson was just saying yesterday that he was hoping that he could meet you sometime, so it was nice that you mentioned him in the video. I wish I was as coordinated as you because I usually fall off those logs up there.
+larry englehart Hi Larry , just watched the vid again with you and him, wow you can sure dig a mean hole. Hope to see ya again soon and Eric was wanting to join up with us too. Keep us posted . Jeff and Slim
Jeff you have to do more CHUNKY GOLD!!!!! Remember, Chunka chunka chunka chunky??? Oh man that was so weird unexpected and funny.. I was laughing so hard you can be hilarious sometimes thats great. Don't loose the chunkyness.
i just stumbled on your channel a couple days ago and ive been eating it up! ive been to the east fork a few times and found some very small pieces but armed with new knowledge from your channel , im sure i can find more and bigger pieces. thank you for putting this info out there!
check for the Horeshoe mine before the Bridge to nowhere on the right . They tunnel up under an ancient river channel and there is still Gold in the back but be very careful.
Wow!!! New to your channel! Amazing informative and just plain damn fun!!!!! Love this kind of stuff I’ll be watching...have a great day guys...be safe hello from Az🙋🏻♀️
finally! Jeff thanks for sharing! I was prospecting up there last week under the same tagged "frosty" rock that you were digging under. we did pick up a bucket of trash on our way out, so it was funny to hear you say something about the trash! one day they're just gonna shut it down! Are they really considering making a monument out of the area and closing the mining? Anyway we didn't find much the day we went, only poison oak! ouch! I guess i need to try some bed rock crevice ing on account i ain't got no zip line.Lol! I was telling my pops after our frustrating experience, that wish i could have Jeff Williams come out here and show us were the gold is! it was like a wish come true! Thank you for the great info about the area also very informative stuff i didn't know about the area.Keep up the great work!
+Gary p Hi Gary and the secret is those old benches. Yes they did make it a monument but I don''t think that will stop folks from digging. Ya you gotta watch out for the poison oak. Really glad you liked the vid and next time try the Old River channels up high on the benches. You will have better luck. Jeff and Slim
ps I always target root balls here in Oregon but like you said you have to be carefull not to damage anything or they will stop the panning your supposed to have a permit here also and no dredging except for a couple of mos out of the year thank say hi to slim
You so crazy, This is so much fun, this is how I feel every time I go their. I know I this spot on the other river west I lay in pond in summer to meditate, this is one of my favorite videos
I keep running into folks who see you all the time everywhere. Steve at MYOGB in Huntington Beach, Robert Ferguson I just met yesterday at East Fork, and others, how come I haven’t met you yet. Hope to real soon. Love the education yer providing me and everyone. Keep gettin it !!!If yer tired of ridin your burro then get off and grab some oro!!! Come on let’s go!!
I love the East fork! I was actually up there that day too, I wish I could of met you. You should hike up into the narrows sometime, with your knowledge I'd bet you'd find some amazing gold up there!
Hey, Jeff you finally got to my backyard too. I was there just today. Some guy showed me a nice gold piece he found this morning, it was the size of a pinky fingernail. The gold is there.
It's illegal now from 2018 when they passed monument protection for East Fork of the San Gabriel River. You'll get fined for $2000 while getting $10 of hard labor gold.
Hey Jeff thanks for all the wonderful info I appreciate it one of your very first bands when we first started I don't have any idea who I am but one of the best man appreciate it hopefully I found some gold soon and chunks and follow your tips and hopefully things work out
"There's still GOLD in them thar benches." Jeff, you showed them how it's done. I've been waiting for someone to prove that it takes work to get that shiney. Working down in that river bed has it's drawbacks. Those benches did not get their old gold stripped by the great floods. Those who have known this can now expect some company now. I'll comment here on your newly released book. "Where To Find Gold, Prospecting Tips" IT'S WORTH EVERY OUNCE. And that limonite pay dirt? FUN STUFF.
+RadicatTat Thanks so much for the great comments and for talking about our book. I know I gave away the secret but had to let the people know where the good Gold is coming from. Thanks again. Jeff and Slim
+Ask Jeff Williams I found a couple of links in your list that I'd not subbed. Now i am. I have read all that I can find by the late Hugh Blanchrd (last link). That particular article made me wonder how many have walked right past that mine. If you look closely, the mine is full of rounded river rock. I doubt if the mine was chasing a visible vein. IMO They were working the gold under an old bench sitting on an old bedrock. When people are wanting to get to those levels, I warn that river rock is not stable enough to crawl under. It may be less work, but very dangerous. Open pits are best to be safe in those types of strata. Granted, the powers that be will frown on massive digging. Pits should not be left as signs of destruction. Clean it up before you leave it. it will be easy to re-open each time you go. That's better than losing the right to be there.
I recently bought a KEENE sluice as I watched a video of you using one. The info you gave is priceless. With the U.S. economy going down the tubes you would think people would be looking at other ways to generate income. Jeff , I thank you Sir for your video's. I truly feel that you are a teacher and a very good teacher. People would pay a lot of money to take training courses to learn how to gold pan but you teach it for free. Please post a mailing address as come on people send Jeff a % of your gold panning take as he would probably put it towards making more ,longer videos with the monies. I head up to the Yukon soon and will be using every single tactic you have taught me and I will let you know how I do.
Awe man, the East Fork is one of my old hang out spots! I grew up close by to the Azusa canyons! I'm glad to see you made it out that way, not too many people in southern California know that place even exists in the San Gabriel mountain range. Makes me miss home, Jeff! I just recently left Long Beach and moved out to your neck of the woods, or should i say desert?! Hahahaha, anyways good to see your adventures on the tube. I subscribed to the GPAA as soon as I arrived out here, will you be attending any of their events? Hope to meet you and your team soon! Que te la pases bien chido, Salud!!!!
I’m glad to see that your not digging up our beautiful river, I am not happy to see all the other video showing other people destroying our river! I love the this river, it’s small but beautiful! Keep it clean.
I live in the poor part of Canyon Country and I took a drive this past Sunday up Sand Cyn. Rd. The rich Beverly Hills style houses are up there-ranch style with horses. If you keep going past the residential section, Sand Cyn. takes your to a road sign that says: Little Tujunga 3 miles. Then a sign says: Entering San Gabriel Mountains. I turned around and parked on the left side in front of a wide canyon that you have to walk through. As I was leaving I saw this clumpy muddy greenish gold looking clumps of mud rock. I put some in my back pack. Today I was looking at it & it’s not fool’s gold because it is in veins and it glows and is soft and malleable. I’d show you a pic but damn if I’m savvy enough to figure that out. I am nonetheless less stoked!!!
+JSJ “ACDAHGD” AAadventures let us know how you do and remember to work the upper benches and if you get to the narrows work the bedrock and if you have a VLF machine like a Gold Bug 2 with a 6 inch coil work the Bedrock up there. There are a lot of drift mines up towards the top of the canyon and the area is great for detecting like I showed on one of my links . If you missed it here it is. th-cam.com/video/lggAt31joDA/w-d-xo.html
It all come down to time for the Narrows Trip. I would love to work up there, but that's a long hike with enough equipment to be efficient,I've never just detected I always try to run material, I'm retiring in about a year. My wife and I are going to move to Washington and become full time prospectors. If all goes as planed it will be Alaska/Yukon in the summer, and desert in the winter. Love the videos keep them coming.
Jeff I was wondering if you have ever been on Highway 70? You can go next to a town called Belden, I mine near their, and we found an old mine and you can see where they spayed water and made small valleys.
I love going to the East Fork in the West Fork and Bear Creek. I'm camping all over the place there. but now a days they're just too many scumbags. and even the people you don't think are scumbags are scumbags leaving dirty diapers in the river breaking bottles. tagging all over everything. you got to go 2 miles in just to get away from them.
I love this guy! I used to go the San Gabriel River in my younger days. I might start going there again.
Those 4 kids didnt even realize they just had an encounter with the legend Jeff Williams and Slim😆
yeah kids are funny :-)
@SECRET CREEK PROSPECTING Sometimes Jeff is and it is what makes his videos dun to watch.

I love the East fork! I was actually up there that day too, I wish I could of met you. You should hike up into the narrows sometime, with your knowledge I'd bet you'd find some amazing gold up there!
+Earthculturemusic next time we will head up there to make another vid. Thanks.
Jeff and Slim
glad to see ya had some fun in our mountains EF best place to be
just beautiful. amazing job Jeff.
Hey, Jeff you finally got to my backyard too. I was there just today. Some guy showed me a nice gold piece he found this morning, it was the size of a pinky fingernail. The gold is there.
yes it is especially in the Benches and drifts.
JS
At east fork the small red garnets in your pan indicate that gold is close at hand too.
I could be moving there within a month from now.Like your video Jeff.Michigan's cold.
It's illegal now from 2018 when they passed monument protection for East Fork of the San Gabriel River. You'll get fined for $2000 while getting $10 of hard labor gold.
Where did you hear thy were giving fines? As far as I know there isn’t a usage plan set yet
Vary good video, History and the tips. Thanks man !
Hey Jeff thanks for all the wonderful info I appreciate it one of your very first bands when we first started I don't have any idea who I am but one of the best man appreciate it hopefully I found some gold soon and chunks and follow your tips and hopefully things work out
That is awesome!
Beautiful land to see Jeff thank you for the video.
Jeff I really enjoy your site. hope to visit some time. Your doing a great job.
Great video, I love the history, the enthusiasm & the search for Shiny !
Hi, do you pan at the East Fork? I recently started coming.
Hey Jeff Williams, I don't know who is funnier - you or your under-fed buddy, Slim! Either way, I like your videos.
Haha you’re one wild prospector. Great video
Spent almost every day In the summer up on the east fork fishing as a kid nice.
Another great video. Thanks!
+delawaregold always our pleasure.
Jeff and Slim
This was a great video!! I really Enjoyed it
I recently bought a KEENE sluice as I watched a video of you using one.
Jeff awesome video that's right in my back yard i am up there all the time panning i never found that much gold before lol !!
+1boostup thanks and did you try the old river channels up high or the coyote holes.
Jeff and Slim
*****
No i am mostly panning the river lol but after watching your video i am going to try other places up there. Thanks !
Love that place, caught some nice Trout up there.
I am nonetheless less stoked!!!
new drinking game every time he says come on let's go take a shot you'll be drunk after 2 videos
HAHAHAHAHAH! YEAH! (~_^)-b
1 dang pan and wablamy! Im taking notes on everything, building up some knowledge to create my own luck when i get out that way sometime.
Jeff.......I wish I had your energy!!
I follow Roberts adventures and Ryans too. Good gold ;-)
I grew up with the San Gabriels in my backyard. We found some nice pickers in a wash just off of Shoemaker Rd.
+Rory Romero sounds great would love to hear more of your experiences of that place.
Jeff and Slim
Haha love it those people were thinking oh man, this guy is crazy lol ❤❤
Great video Jeff. I'm going to work the top and down steam of that bed rock tomorrow and Friday. I will make a video of my findings

I live down the hill from there. Looking forward to taking a fishing pole and gold panning equipment and trying my luck
I can mark this spot on the places im going to visit ❤
Dude! Your an idol!
+nightprowlerch19 I know ...right.
Jeff and Slim
What ya think the .44 on the hip is for? Sure most that don't know him meets him and slim probably give em space.
