I would like to say that Vannak's response to Kai was appropriate to her question. She asked, "Why are we fighting the Covenant?". Which he answers with the obvious; because war. And her next question; why do you not question your orders?. Where he responds with the insult. Both responses are saying we are on deployment and now is not the time.
Yea, I think there's merit in both lines of thinking. I don't think Vannak is portrayed as unintelligent or inconsiderate (they spent part of last episode hyping up his achievements, both physical and intellectual). He also had no problem questioning fleetcom when they ordered Silver to capture MC in Ep1. It's just a setup for how distracted Kai is in the middle of a deployment. She wants to fight, but her guard is unintentionally down. Because war is so much a part of her, she doesn't even realize that she's unprepared until it's too late (and to be fair, Chief has the same lack of insight - he's confused by what he's doing and why).
I've seen a lot of negative comments about how Kai had "PTSD" like reactions to the marines being killed but they haven't taken into account that this is her first combat experience of seeing other humans being torn apart and experiencing those emotions for the first time ever after removing her implant would be overwhelming

Many thanks for this thoughtful and comprehensive video! Really appreciate your excellent coverage of this series. While Chief didn't clear Kai for combat duty due to being emotionally compromised, his own breakdown signalled their location to The Covenant, causing the raid and loss of the artifact.
Installation 00 you neglected to mention that Kai is going through her experience alone, while Chief has an advanced AI keeping him in check whether or not he realizes it. Anyone finding Kwan's motivations less and less grounded with reality? Before they give her a magical macguffin to validate her entirely irrational behavior next episode or so, that is.
How rational is a deeply traumatized teen after witnessing all her friends and family murdered in front of her eyes? Knowing she’s wanted dead and also trying to survive the horror by coping as best she can with survivor guilt? 🤔 How can a kid in those circumstances dare not behave “grounded” and rational? The nerve of the show to portray a realistic behavior, eh?🤨
@@theexpansegeeks5439 Hypothetically... If I was Kwan, I would be terrified and angry at the EIGHT FOOT TALL ALIENS that I SAW kill all my friends. Not the dude who quotes Shakespeare and literally had nothing to do with my father's death. Hypothetically.
It's not, they dropped off the blessed bitch to unsc, so we're gonna get an episode and a half of filler and BO to infiltrate then doop the humans, steal the artifact the fuck off to the covenant and lead to the fall of reach
I doubt they will. Kate Kennedy (Kai-125) said episode 5 was the last episode they filmed for the season, which tells me that there might not be any action sequences for the rest of the season save for maybe the season finale.

This show is mostly lore inaccurate in so many areas so much that it feels straight up like fanfiction. Barely anything in this show is lore accurate.
@@LethalByChoice Covenant is more lore accurate then the games (brutality). Halsey is pretty lore accurate from a personality perspective (minus the age). Chief is pretty similar to his depiction in the books outside of the one outburst towards Halsey. The weapons are all fairly accurate with a couple not yet existing in core lore (which is fine). The general time line lines up with core lore with relatively unimportant moments not aligning (how the ring was found, John not playing King of the Hill as a kid, technoligical reasons for emotion supression, Mahkee being a character). Even with those changes though, the core tentpole stories still exist and the core tentpole foundations still exist. Covenant still are what they are, they still want to do what they do. Spartans are still Spartans and the UNSC fight against the covenant is still the same. Chief still is still Chief (though more similar to the books then the early games). Yep, still Halo where it matters.
When you combine his being de-pelleted with his just being compromised by touching the massive artifact (which induces 'Darkness' as described in episode 2), the lunge at Halsey is perfectly understandable.
If the Spartans had “grown up” with the blood and war like regular soldiers without their numbing chips, like they did in the books, she would’ve been able to deal with the blood and chaos.
dude ur nuanced approach to digging into the show is actually so refreshing. I think ur take on the characterization of spartans and their relationship to their emotions is really insightful. i kind of lose a little faith every time i see someone impugn the series' construction or dismiss the artistry involved on the basis of it's deviation. like it's so dope if u prefer the preceding canon (i do too - tho we've just started with silver), but it's so intellectually vapid to make that jump. Not to mention how toxic and reactionary it makes the culture of the fanbase look. ur killin it boss.
Dame here. It's just really exhausting to be in a fanbase where people interact with things because they know they'll get angry at it, or they force themselves into being angry. Like, how can one enjoy anything in that manner?
Intellectually vapid? Toxic and reactionary? For what? Being pissed that yet another beloved franchise, perhaps the most beloved, was hijacked and bastardized by Hollyweird? For using the EXCUSE, and that’s all it is, an excuse, of a “parallel universe” or “different timeline” to use all the established characters yet none of the story? To USE the name and fan base of HALO, to lure people in on nostalgia, make them pay money, sign up for a premium streaming service, only to watch... this? A Master Chief, Spartan 117, constantly remove his helmet and talk about his feels? A covenant, who wants to genocide humans, have a high ranking human member? Nobody has a problem with the battle scenes, those are at least somewhat accurate, it’s... everything else. So what point of contention, which grievance of the fan base is so “intellectually vapid, toxic and reactionary”? Edit: oh, almost forgot. CBS is so insecure about their precious Halo series they’ve been striking down ANY negative reviews and criticism like children. So there’s that as well...
This breakdown was so good it should be recommended by algos to everyone. I enjoyed that you touched on the storytelling bits rather than just the action. I especially have similar feelings about Kwans story which is widely misunderstood so far. I think there's so much more to Kwans arc than meets the eye at this moment. Many hate her because she's an annoying brat but that's what she is written to be, she's a teenager and naive still so there's much more room to grow in the future. I can think of Arya Stark from game of thrones in which she was very annoying in the first seasons but ultimately became a very important character later on. I also think that so many of us are plagued with the need of receiving everything right away and not enjoying the process of how to get to the end result. Patience is what many lack. Let the story unfold in its pace and pay attention to each scene, that might become fruitful in the future. Btw, did anyone notice the Lord of the rings reference when Kwan was hiding in the gravel but also the high pitch whistling audio que which played when ever Frodo was eager to touch the ring or the nazgûl was nearby etc.? Super cool!
Or that one anthropomorphic creamsicle-lookin ass xeno with gumi worms stuck to her head from The Clone Wars. Forget her name. She was insufferable in the first season but got so much better as the show progressed
Also the reason cheif lunged at her is because it was about him being emitonal i mean hed JUST discovered it and she walked in the room. The whole thing is about if chief becomes so overcome with emotion he wont just hurt halsey...hell destroy everyone. The reason hes angry is because they took away his control or choices over his own life...and thats exactly what theyre doing again because hes discovering thats what theyre doing.
and its not in line with the lore, this is a shitshow, he already had character in the books, a stoic, but deeply emotional man who cares for those under his command and is willing to put himself in unessicary danger to reduce the danger for his allies but still trusts them to get the job done and doesnt coddle them, this is admittedly very difficult to put into a tv show when you need to develop him over the course of the show, but an easy route would be his learning to question orders, in the books this culminates with him destroying important information about the flood because it would get johnson killed but only offer a very very small chance to improve the UNSCs ability to defend against them, choosing to give ONI incomplete data instead, it could also show him learning to cope with the deaths in his team, and later, after RED FLAG his reaction to that, they have so much material to adapt but they chose to make a poorly written manchild instead. if this is who they wanted to write just make your own fucking spartan, and make chief a backround character and do him justice.
@@gaiamission7200 I agree, they are telling a story that us easy to tell on the screen and changing it for that fact. What I was saying was trying to describe that they have "themes" that they are trying to convey and tell through out the whole show and so we will see thinga and behaviours that do not match with the chief we know in the books or game.
I think his lunge at Halsey was to demonstrate Cortana's ability to disable him. So they got him in the air and let him drop instantly with no insticts taking place. Instead of it looking like he simply fainted.
When they added, the chip in chief to control his emotion I was done. The point of the OG Spartans they indoctrinated the children by mental torture , there was no need to make some fancy sci addition .The puberty augments was enough. The story doesn't have to be 1:1 to the Halo story but damn ... sorry for the rant . battle in ep 5 was good but.. still this isn't a generic sci-fi story and it's being made into one.
I absolutely loved this episode. The battle scene was amazing and definitely beat my expectations. Seeing John lounge at Halsey was the only part that I had a hard time swallowing. I would have preferred him to give a hard stare, put his helmet on, walk up to Halsey, then Cortana give the slip space alert. At this point after seeing Kai freeze up on the battlefield, I’m starting to suspect that the the show may have been inspired by the Spartan III brain augmentations for this shows Spartan II program with the introduction of the emotional suppression pellets. If i remember correctly, Kurt secretly modified the S-III GAMA companies brain augmentations in order to have the S-IIIs extra battle hardened and numbed when facing extreme situations. Just a thought I guess….
I honestly like the take on the silver Spartans we're gotten. They're not people, at least not fully. Everything about their humanity is suppressed while the entire point of Cortana is to control them, and usurp them. They're hardware, machines. And it's horrifying.
@@BoisegangGaming I got the feeling that Cortana genuinely thinks she's helping, but that she's going to realize the atrocities that have been committed against the spartans and that her purpose was so that they could continue to be used as equipment instead of people. Maybe that her and Chief both figure out that they're being used.
That would've been cooler but they had to have Cortana shut him down as was the purpose of her implementation into Chief in this story. Not a fan of the plot point but it makes sense for thier story.
Thanks for posting. I've been telling "haters" since the FIRST episode that the Spartan portrayal (INCLUDING M.C.) in the show is actually very MUCH in line with portrayals in many of the BOOKS and short stories...
I suspect they felt they couldn't have him move toward Halsey with purpose in a straight line given how soon thereafter they're going to emphasize how fast Spartans are. Edit: Also, watching again, IMO they wanted it to be a conflicted, inefficient motion and if so, they completely nailed that. At this point, Kai has recently mentioned not having words for certain feelings. Even if John has been viewing his emotions as a discomfort he has to shoulder for the tactical benefit of clearer relic visions, the magnitude of that revelation would be stunning. Most importantly, though, HE NOW KNOWS CORTANA CAN DEACTIVATE HIM. This is something which can and likely will be remedied by relic interactions, but I believe he had to be aware of it before it could be identified as a problem which could be addressed via the relic-spurred cortical plasticity noted by Halsey in episode 4. The steadily improving relationship with Cortana won't hurt either.
I agree with your assessment. I got the sense that he was not thinking tactically one bit and was just completely unhinged by the betrayal and having had his whole world instantly shattered, all while not having any experience with emotions in general let alone such strong ones. It was like the little kid on the playground finally snapping at the bully when they've finally had enough. Plus I think it really showed off this version of what Cortana was technically intended for and definitely gave me a bit of a jump. And I think Cortana is going to also end up feeling at least manipulated as it seemed pretty clear that she did not know what Halsey had done and that she was being used to continue Halsey's "use" of Chief as a piece of equipment when it seemed to me that her initial thought was that she was genuinely there to help him. If I think of this whole Silver Timeline thing the same way I do the Marvel comics vs the movies, then I'm ok with it so far.
This video is basically saying the same thing i did. There are so many hardcore halo fans complaining about the show not following the lore and saying its crap and not good. And when i say they are going direction they are is because a copy amd past of all the game and books would be boring and would not last that long. So far i love the show. With that said there are some things i don’t like.
I was hoping Soren would kill or leave the Kuan kid for dead after realizing he wasn't getting paid for this trip and lost his favorite ship. Just tell Chief she escaped, stole his ship, and went off to get herself killed. End of that storyline, time to team up or do other cool stuff. Being a babysitter to a spoiled suicidal brat child isn't what Soren should be wasted doing..
I love your breakdowns of the show and I'm learning so, so much from you lore and theory vids. I've subscribed to your channel. Never played Halo yet I'm loving the series! Again, thanks for all your hard work on this channel!❤👍
I love how they are handling the blood and gore it's violent and fast but they don't linger or use the violence just for violence sake. For example when halsey perv assistant touched the artifact with the laser and the pulse rang out, I figured his head was going to explode, but it didn't.
Yeah, that assistant is going to be a major bad guy at some point. I think it's just the right balance on the gore/violence. It gets the point across, but isn't THE point.
I think that Chief's rage got the better of him when it came to his attack on Halsey. The lunge is usually retaliatory. 25:38 This is why the Covenant call Master Chief "Demon".
If by season 2 we have the fall of reach happening, it would be really cool if noble 6 was brought in somehow. Maybe way later down the line we could have noble 6 being sent to retrieve the chief for going AWOL or something.
People seem to be making the comparison of Keyes to Johnson solely because he had an action scene in the recent episode and he wore a UNSC cap, characteristically Silver Keyes has very little in common with Avery J, i fully believe Johnson will make an appearance in some form or another i dont see much of Johnson in Keyes, Keyes is much more gently spoken and his presence is very authoritative whilst keeping a gentle visage, Johnson would have a more direct, Loud and proud approach to everything, i guess time will tell. P.S Mendez is captioned in the subtitles in the flashback sequences so the character hasnt been folded into Keyes.
In regards to the destroyer being taken out by Banshees, if they went with the logic of the 'tin can' destroyers from WWII, there is minimal armor on the ship to maximize speed and maneuverability.
Loved this episode. I was hoping to see a little more between the brute and Chief. I wonder if it’s just a random Chieftain or if he will hold some significance to the plot. The fact that it’s such a detailed design makes me lean towards a significant character
I love how they showed the chief fighting the elite. It was clear that they watched a bunch of MMA fights, maybe even real street fights between two skilled / strong opponents. The elite is animated to be trying to hit him, their hands are hitting eachother even, but chief's just way too enraged and everything just overpowers the elite.
Your comment on Keys playing two roles, one of them being Mendez. We watch with Captions on do to my bad hearing. Beginning of the last episode, where it shows all the kids running and it's telling us their names, there is a man running and yelling next to them. It states in Captions "MENDEZ YELLING". So Snr Chief Petty Officer Mendez is in this show. This is my favorite channel for my Halo Lore. I could not wait for your breakdown. Still love all the other channels as well.
Im in the same boat as you and like/injoy it for what it is and hope it get better and better going forward, plus this episode was a kick ass fight scene!
Cheeks is toxic masculinity, Chief is positive masculinity. Cheeks : Rageful, hateful, constantly lashing out and predatory. Chief : Compassionate, Stoic, Protective and honorable.
Maybe with Chief and Kai removing their chips we could be seeing Silver Teams becoming the spartans we know? The creative & highly intelligent Spartans
@@World36599 Im just going to enjoy it for what it is. It's not meant to be canonically accurate this show. I haven't seen it yet but I will buy when it comes to bluerays
It kind of makes sense for this Chief to go ballistic on Halsey. He's lived his whole life with no emotions, and has had no time to learn how to control them. So learning all of this, with no understanding of what emotions can do to you, in what seems to be a weeks time... yeah I can totally see him losing his shit.
Hes effectively having to learn how to handle puberty emotional surges...having already gone THROUGH puberty AND having been augmented. No wonder they put the pellet in.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think they subtly threw in that the destroyer ship fell because the banshees targeted the framework/landing dock holding up the ship? They didn't really show it so it's hard to tell Great video! This episode was packed with a lot of action and your calm breakdown really helps to process everything. I really didn't like the show at first simply because I've been a fan for 16 years and was very biased as someone so familiar with original lore, but now that I finally get where they're going with the story, I am optimistically intrigued to see how they will branch from canon and do their own thing. My only gripes are: 1. In no disrespect to the actor because I absolutely love him and seeing him get invested in Halo lore (presumably as an outsider looking in once he accepted the role) and developing a true passion for it makes me super happy, but I feel like the writers' portrayal of Chief's personality deviating so much from in canon is really jarring and difficult to adjust to, especially when seeing him suddenly violently lashing out on his own allies without any warning, something that his calm and collected self wouldn't really do, unless you happen to be named Locke and happen to be threatening a certain blue lady's wellbeing, but I digress 2. why are there so many butts? Overall I am definitely looking forward to next week to see what happens next. They come out the same day as my nursing clinicals so they are a huge motivation to keep my chin up through the day for a treat once it's over
Loved your break down. Most break downs I've seen have just complained that it's not the game. Games don't always translate well to TV or movies. I think the Halo series did what it needed to to bring in a larger audience. I've really only played the first game and a top down shooter spin off and knew very little about the lore but am loving it.
I had lots of issues with this episode because I like the original series. First since the armor also Cortana can analyze things in the environment can she tell if someone is lying. Also where were the other two Spartans doing while John was going god mode. They lost the artifact why didn’t they try to retrieve it. when the brute showed up it could have been a 3 on 1 they could have stopped it. Also regarding the covenant girl I seen the preview and it seems the unsc are stupid or maybe they aren’t im sure they wouldn’t be stupid as not to do a full body scan and not find that hidden weapon she has right?
I never thought about the Series Keys filling the role of Capt Keys and SgtMaj Johnson. I would have much rather them have that actor actually play Johnson though. Cut that man's beard so he has a thick mustache and give me a cigar.
yeah, the whole hormone pellet is so stupid. So is Spartans not having personalities. Spartans are pretty normal when interacting with each other and can be pretty funny. Great example from the books would be in Ghosts of Onyx when Kelly is being chased by a swarm of sentinels. As she is the fastest Spartan, while running away from the sentinels she is so fast that she had time to turn around. Proceed to run backwards, still faster than the sentinels, just so she could give them the double middle fingers. Hands down one of my favorite moments from the games. I am still pissed blue team only showed up for 1 halo game.
I'm really happy to see and hear about your open-minded approach to the Halo series considering I've seen so many negative comments from Halo players in general about it. I'm not a player, for reasons I won't get in to, but have been captivated by the Halo story since I first heard about it many years ago. I haven't read any of the books but I am thinking of doing just that.
It seemed to me that the second artifact stopped emitting the tone when it "saw" a reclaimer (the blessed one) thing still feels a bit unnatural, but oh well.
Technically they can be used by any species. In core canon however they're given to higher ranking troops only because their use gives an opportunity for glory and prowess. "Lower" Covenant races can ride them; they just arent ever allowed to.
@@KillerOrca Not true. The single occupant drop pods were made with the Elite physiology in mind. Only the multi occupant ones can carry Grunts or Jackals or Elites or Brutes
I really don't understand why they felt the need to deviate so much from the established canon. There is plenty they could have explored in the show that isn't shown in the game without creating a whole new canon. It's kind of annoying and alienates the existing fan base too much. Maybe they were betting we would all watch it anyway if for no other reason than to bitch about it.
Is it me or did this battle scene location look like the same spot from Starship Troopers Klendathu battle scene? Just missing few hundred extras to fill out the space.
I think Halsey does actually care for her daughter but is trying to distance from here to keep her out of and not connected to what Halsey has done, basically trying to protect her daughter from any fall out from the spartan program. The jump was pretty silly and honestly comes across more comical than anything and it will make good meme content for years, I also though that him walking forward initially plane faced but the closer he gets you see the rage build and being shut down just as he reached for her throat would have been so much better
the fact that the magnum is strong enough to pierce through the entire banshee's hull and kill what's inside is also pretty awesome. also, didn't the covenant capital ship take down the UNSC cruiser from afar ?
It was a UNSC Destroyer, and she was destroyed with a massed air attack, the Covenant Ship may have fired on it but I don't think they showed it. I just saw a comment about all the Covenant had to do was take out her thrusters and let gravity do the rest.
Yes it will, give it time. We have to see an imperfect chief in order to fully appreciate a perfect one, stories have arcs and this is just the beginning.
Am I the only one who noticed that Keyes was the only one besides chief to not freak out at the domain wave pulse of the domain. That would show her mom if she's a reclaimer. EDIT: The lunge was stupid, but I don't think his punch would've landed.
my thought with the banshees taking down the ship is that it was in atmosphere so really they just had to get the right thrusters to get it to come crashing back down to the planet and not necessarily fully disable the ship
Come on man, comparing race-swapped Keyes to Johnson just because he had a gun for 20 seconds is a bit of a stretch. Just because he's black now doesn't mean he's Johnson. This Keyes is a corrupt political figure who is careful with his words and stuck trying to weasel his way out of a mess he made with Halsey, Johnson was a highly flamboyant soldier with a legendary ability to lead and inspire his comrades, while also having spartan augmentations and the skill to turn the tide in a fight like this instead of just taking cover like Keyes did. If this was in any way a replacement for Johnson, he would have been at the front with Master Cheeks and the two spartans. No disrespect to you, but that's not a good comparison.
Because be had a gun? What? No dude the Johnson connection came from the brothers in arms relationship chief seems to have with him. That's the role Johnson played in the games.
@@lizardlegend42 That's such a huge leap, taking that one scene and trying to make him into Johnson. It's two entirely different things, especially if you just look at how Keyes behaves for the rest of the battle.

@@jimk4284 Personality plays a big part too. Kai seems the inquisitive type but also the unfocused type. I have a feeling Riz would be a control freak and Vannak would be similar to John if their pallets were removed.
When he does break that control and snaps, the AI literally shuts him down.
I imagine Chief would be exactly like Kai without Cortana in his head.
Thank you again for your superb analysis. Like you, I so love ,& appreciate the series in it's medium. I am somewhat new to Halo universe, & trying to catch up via reading, & watching well thought out sites like yours, & Halo Canon. Your comments about Chief's reactions, his Spartan skills, & Kai's confusion was spot on. She's become one of my favorite characters. This episode is the best of the series so far. Thank you.
So many things are just handled poorly. It's the execution. Plain and simple.

I doubt they will. Kate Kennedy (Kai-125) said episode 5 was the last episode they filmed for the season, which tells me that there might not be any action sequences for the rest of the season save for maybe the season finale.

I think the Kwan storyline will lead to the Forerunners or the Librarian.

@Master_Misanthrope say you dont know actual Halo lore without saying directly you dont know Halo lore.
@@porcin3proph3t4 What are you talking about? If you're referring to the writers, yes, if you're referring to what Master said, then no. He's exaggerating it a tiny bit but he's completely right. This show is mostly lore inaccurate in so many areas so much that it feels straight up like fanfiction. Barely anything in this show is lore accurate.
@@porcin3proph3t4 That's you, buddy.
Dude you always impress me with your content, like seriously extremely engaging.
dude ur nuanced approach to digging into the show is actually so refreshing.
Completely agree with all of this. Well said, Mark.
Dame here. It's just really exhausting to be in a fanbase where people interact with things because they know they'll get angry at it, or they force themselves into being angry. Like, how can one enjoy anything in that manner?
Thank I've seen so many bitchy comments from toxic fans on other channels
She was insufferable in the first season but got so much better as the show progressed
great comment
Its supposed to be halo, not lotr.
Fred in the books would joke and question a lot.

@@ottersirotten4290 It definitely is.
Kai is my favorite. I love how huge she is compared to Miranda Keyes.
Kate Kennedy (Kai) has so much potential as an actress. The character Kai also has a great storyline thus far.
I wanted Chief to say "Boo" to the grunt.
Mixed-race Miranda Keys is cuter than sour cream Miranda IMO. She gives me Alyx Vance vibes.
I'm with you 00, in that I've accepted the show for what it is and love it
This video is basically saying the same thing i did. There are so many hardcore halo fans complaining about the show not following the lore and saying its crap and not good. And when i say they are going direction they are is because a copy amd past of all the game and books would be boring and would not last that long. So far i love the show. With that said there are some things i don’t like.
I definitely want to see more of Soren, he’s one of my favorite characters from the show so far

I hope at some point Soren runs into Halsey.
I can't believe they've left out Johnson's character. It would have been a great addition, even as a background character.
You can't have a touchy-feeling story with someone like Johnson kicking your ass for being weak.
It almost looks like Kai was “enjoying” the sensation of getting hit.
Interesting, I can kinda see that. I suppose an emotion that intense, that much adrenaline, might feel like a high to her.
Like Data in *Star Trek: Generations*? I can see that...
In regards to the destroyer being taken out by Banshees, if they went with the logic of the 'tin can' destroyers from WWII, there is minimal armor on the ship to maximize speed and maneuverability.
Keyes is not black...Sgt.Johnson is...
Loved this episode. I was hoping to see a little more between the brute and Chief. I wonder if it’s just a random Chieftain or if he will hold some significance to the plot. The fact that it’s such a detailed design makes me lean towards a significant character
Who wins? Master Chief & The Arbiter or Kwan & Master Cheeks (before Cortana tells him it's bedtime)?
Thank you for the comprehensive review. Keep up the great job

Cheeks is toxic masculinity, Chief is positive masculinity.
Cheeks : Rageful, hateful, constantly lashing out and predatory.
Chief : Compassionate, Stoic, Protective and honorable.
Toxic? Why? You have no point to say that!
That brute if you look close enough at him and the hammer as well as the armor it looks like atriox
I think it's more like influenced by Tartarus, it would be strange for him to be atriox given her rebelled early in the core cannon
18:10 he's removed his chip and getting use to controlling/ handling his emotions
Maybe with Chief and Kai removing their chips we could be seeing Silver Teams becoming the spartans we know? The creative & highly intelligent Spartans

Halsey's character isn't old enough unless John was injected with rapid aging cells.
This show isn't a canon timeline.
At best, it's a parallel reality. At worse, it's fanfiction.
You said what i was thinking, my thoughts exactly regarding MC emotions!
Hes effectively having to learn how to handle puberty emotional surges...having already gone THROUGH puberty AND having been augmented.
No wonder they put the pellet in.
Ditto Kai getting a full blast of PTSD/Fog Of War for the first time without the implant dulling the usual neural response...
Chief on the borderline of a bully😂
the scene did not depicted chief god mode though, it's just typical spartan normal mode in the book.
so it's more master cheeks than master chief.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think they subtly threw in that the destroyer ship fell because the banshees targeted the framework/landing dock holding up the ship? They didn't really show it so it's hard to tell
Great video! My only gripes are:
1. In no disrespect to the actor because I absolutely love him and seeing him get invested in Halo lore (presumably as an outsider looking in once he accepted the role) and developing a true passion for it makes me super happy, but I feel like the writers' portrayal of Chief's personality deviating so much from in canon is really jarring and difficult to adjust to, especially when seeing him suddenly violently lashing out on his own allies without any warning, something that his calm and collected self wouldn't really do, unless you happen to be named Locke and happen to be threatening a certain blue lady's wellbeing, but I digress
2. why are there so many butts?
Overall I am definitely looking forward to next week to see what happens next. They come out the same day as my nursing clinicals so they are a huge motivation to keep my chin up through the day for a treat once it's over
Love his approach to covering of the halo timeline and series
This is the first episode that felt truly like Halo and the actual lore.
They were fighting in the warthog above the hill
Next Most Detailed Breakdown - If John had landed that punch
I'm really happy to see and hear about your open-minded approach to the Halo series considering I've seen so many negative comments from Halo players in general about it.
I'm not a player, for reasons I won't get in to, but have been captivated by the Halo story since I first heard about it many years ago. I haven't read any of the books but I am thinking of doing just that.
Master Chief giving the covenant back their blanche.
It seemed to me that the second artifact stopped emitting the tone when it "saw" a reclaimer (the blessed one) thing still feels a bit unnatural, but oh well.
I hope the remaining episodes follow the example of this one, the fighting scenes were awesome.
Also, I really think Kai's character is the most fascinating of the series so far.
The battle scene was ok. But the single occupant drop pods are used by Elites only! They should’ve just used drop ships more!
That would have required more cgi
Technically they can be used by any species. In core canon however they're given to higher ranking troops only because their use gives an opportunity for glory and prowess. "Lower" Covenant races can ride them; they just arent ever allowed to.
@@KillerOrca Not true. The single occupant drop pods were made with the Elite physiology in mind. Only the multi occupant ones can carry Grunts or Jackals or Elites or Brutes
@@CaptainRudy4021 haha they're really struggling on that part hey.
@@jayebuss5562 well it's the first season so yeah
I really don't understand why they felt the need to deviate so much from the established canon. There is plenty they could have explored in the show that isn't shown in the game without creating a whole new canon. It's kind of annoying and alienates the existing fan base too much. Maybe they were betting we would all watch it anyway if for no other reason than to bitch about it.
Thanks for watching this with an open mind seems like most people cant
Is it me or did this battle scene location look like the same spot from Starship Troopers Klendathu battle scene? Just missing few hundred extras to fill out the space.
knowing Halsey, she probably was only worried about keys cuz she is the only one smart enough to take her place in case anything happens to her.
The intro just hits hard
That brute was confirmed to be a young atriox!!
This will never be Master Chief.
EDIT: The lunge was stupid, but I don't think his punch would've landed.
i love the actress for kai. she makes the character really cute, the way she acts.
my thought with the banshees taking down the ship is that it was in atmosphere so really they just had to get the right thrusters to get it to come crashing back down to the planet and not necessarily fully disable the ship
Let gravity do the work.
well this is a terrible idea
You don’t understand what he’s trying to say. Watch the video again and look for the context…
@@Bitshift1125 Where in earth was he trying to "make him into Johnson" lol. Johnson wasn't even the main comparison, Franklin Mendez was. Keyes does undenuably embody several traits of Johnson on top of that and fills a similar role.
