I invested in a set of these - saw they were 10% off at Amazon - and I’m loving them! Not too dissimilar from my Mont Marte extra softs and a joy to use. The quality is evident in the consistency throughout the colours - all nice and opaque and layer very well - and of course the blending is so easy. I have to be careful when picking them up as they are so soft, even in the cool winter here in the UK. I haven’t done a lot with oil pastels, mainly experimenting with different brands and endless apples (!) as I’m much more used to soft pastels, but I think I’m going to really enjoy using these. Thanks again John for the recommendation.
Happy New Year, John! Thank you for the review! I'm not allowed to buy anymore oil pastels (self imposed) or else I would add those to my collection. They are beautifully creamy looking.
Hi John, thanks for another great informative video. I was particularly interested because I recently bought a set of Kuelox square extra soft pastels. From what I had seen from TH-cam reviews I was expecting them to be very soft, but I found them to be annoyingly inconsistent, some were transparent and the pastel colours seemed dull. So I sold them. My point is that Lightwish were bracketed with Kuelox but from my experience it looks as though the pastels are of very different quality. I’m really tempted to try these. Happy New Year to you 🎉
That's great info Helen as I will be buying those square ones at some point. If you decide to buy the ones I have reviewed tell me first and I will help you get them cheaper.....not an affiliate but just info I am aware of! Do not buy off Amazon!
Thanks Dave! Pity I do not earn from it lol....however, if you are my Dave who's friendly with me on Facebook before you purchase please do message me and I can help with that!
Happy New Year. I haven't used oil pastels for years! Since high school, and we are talking decades. Looking forward to this revisit to an old art tool!
You mentioned you have a suggestion about where to buy this set? I was going to get them directly from the Lightwish site, but if there is a better place...I'm in the US. Also, since these are new, could there be a larger set coming in the near future.
@@johnsartmaterialguidestuto7757 My results: I started with adding 2 sets to my basket and it automatically applied a 15% discount (adding the code did not discount any further). Then for a test, I put just 1 set in my basket and there was no auto-discount, but using the code applied a 15% discount. Thanks!
@@wrdx7815 I belleive one set will be full price but the code can get 15% off, 2 sets will auto get 15% and 3 sets will get 20% off, you can mix and match ther pastels so don't need to buy all the same one!
@@dieisler8303hi, just pushing in here to ask if you own both Artechos and Mont Marte extra softs? I have the Mont Martes and love them, but have been thinking of trying the Artechos but wonder if they are too similar? And now these Lightwish have come along. Decisions, decisions 😅
@@johnsartmaterialguidestuto7757 I'm interested in this as well, Can you tell if the colors in the 48 set of Lightwish pastels are also in the set of 72 Soho pastels you reviewed? Also, how would you compare the softness factor of the 2 sets? Thanks.

How do they compare to the Artecho oil pastels?
Artecho are very good but in my opinion these pastels are superior!
