This is one of the best example videos showing how to use the amp properly to get the best experience out of it. It’s meant to represent the classic Marshall sound and feel, and it does a great job of it. Keep up the good work!
i have a poor man's marshall thru a MG412 too!!! (great cab) 💀 joyo "jackman 2" clean channel is a plexi, dirty channel is a jcm 800. it only has a presence knob just like a marshall should be used. marshall has a passive EQ so every knob on 10 is the same as other amps EQ at 12 o'clock. i toured for years with a real jcm 800 and 1970s JMP thru a 1960a cab. i prefer my new setup :) you need to raise the 412 off the ground (at least 1 ft) 20w would be plenty loud with a drummer. i use a black liquor crate. a head road case works reall good too. the origin amp has plenty of gain just use an OD pedal (boss Sd-1 or tube screamer) if you want more. the amp's distortion boost is a clipped diode (actualy clipped led) just like jcm 900 or marshall jubilee :)
I noticed the wattage consumption rating by the power cord reads 175 watts. Divide that by 1000 to get 0.175 kilowatt hours (kWh). My electric bill says I am billed $0.08 per kWh. 0.175 x 0.08 equals $0.014. Just under a penny and a half, per hour, to run that amp at full power. Pretty economical. You can figure this out for any piece of gear.
I have a jcm 600 60watt. It about 28 yrs old and still works. I had to do a little research and dial in the correct tones in a prescribed manner including thr tone and volume on my guitar. When I did that and added compression I got lots of sustain.
Bro, these amps kick ASS !! I love my Origin 20h. I swapped the 70/80's for Green backs.. Holy Shit !! AC/DC.. ZEPPELIN.. Absolutely nails all those classic tones.. So much fun. This amp combined with my Les Paul sounds like I've always imagined Electric Guitar should sound in my head. Keep Rocking bro.. Sounds awesome!! 🤘🤘
I had an origin 50 and could not really dial in any worthwhile tone until the day before I sold it. Looking back now I regret selling it but I bought a fender reissue 68 and I’m over the moon with the tone.
I own one and love it for what it's supposed to be. It's a great pedal platform as well. Need brutal while using this? Run a Revv G3 straight to the fx loop and it crushes! Origin 50 is great for the AC/DC thing and having said that, you have the most perfect fast and narrow Angus Young vibrato I've ever heard. Sounds just like him.
What is it with Fender Gibson Marshall and supro. Of course we want the amps to look the part. But just make them like they used to. They spend more time and money building it wrong. Remember a guy named Leo? He cared what people wanted and he built things to be serviced and last forever.
That amp is meant have an old school sound of some of the original Marshalls. It takes pedals well and doesn’t overpower your sound with too much gain. It’s called “Origins” for a reason. 🤘🏼
I use my SG tuned to B standard and a Proco RAT into this amp, gain at around 6, master at 8 and I use an attenuator to get it at a comfortable volume. Sounds great for Doom!
@TorinDundas either it does it or mine was defective but with the master low getting very little power amp distortion the loop was clean sounding but pushing the master made the loop more dirty
@@TheDistortionPrinciple hmm weird, I can't say I've used the FX loop but I'd be interested to see what happens with. What pedals are you running through the FX loop?
It sounds good.I don't know what people are complaining about. I have a JTM 45 and this origin amp sounds killer. They can just get a reactive load attenuator and they will be fine turning it up.
Nice demo, you got some good tones out of the Origin 50 with the Marshall MG 4x12 cab!I noticed you have a Line 6 Spider HD75 and i also have one that i run into a Marshall 1960a 4x12 and it sounds ok but how does your Line 6 HD75 sound into your MG 4x12?
Thanks for the review. I own the same 50 head with he matching 2 x 12 cab. I have gigged with it half a dozen times and mostly with the master on 3 and between 20 w to 50 w as a clean platform that then I push with my gain pedals. The issue I find is that it really comes alive with the master at 6 or more and this is too loud. I have been tinkering with an attenuator (Burgera) and it seems to work, however it colours the sound a little. The low = 1 watt option is ok for home practice, however in my experience it lacks headroom, it gets that driven tone, however on the thinner side. I am going to try with a Celestion V30 Cab 1 x 12 (Orange PPC), to have a lighter option for gigs and rehearsals and another sound option for the head. This amp gets the job done, and as you pointed out, it is a more of a rock n roll amp than a modern distortion voicing amp. This works ok for me. Also tinkering with the EQ + Presence and Tilt brings better sounds. Definitely not an amp to set everything at 12 o clock and expect to sound ok. Your settings are a good illustration of this. Thanks again and keep rocking.
I dig the Origin line. But the reason I didn't get one a few years ago was because the salesman at the store told me they were less than reliable, and they had some on hand. It then came down to a Marshall DSL 20 combo or Fender Supersonic combo. I went with the DSL. While I liked the DSL, I think the Origin is a much better pedal platform.
Hi Jake. I have the same head and cab as you as well as a boss ds1, and a boss sdq. My question to you is what were the settings on both of your boss pedals ? Also are you sure that we can't plug into two 8ohm 412 cabs ? I know that we can plug into two 412 16 ohms cabs as I have do this one time. Oh, I did the like a subscribe to your channel. Cheers.
Only one thing ruined this amp for me and that was to get the giant where it sounds the best you have to crank the master and when you do that it overloads the fx loop
Bottom end is too woofy and loose. This amp is designed to be a pedal platform amp with time based effects in the loop and gain based into the front end.
Lots of my favorite pedals lop off the low end, I noticed that if an amplifier is already tight stock in the low end, I can’t use all my pedals- I have to go buy an entire set of new full frequency type pedals. So I rather have woofy amplifiers, I can always take it away
Exactly, super very woofy and loose, it sounds nothing like the crunchy glassy high mid freq of a Plexi, I own a Plexi and I used to have a DSL40, from my experience a DSL does a better job at getting a Plexi tone, even with my boss katana I can get some convincing Plexi like tones and it's cheaper than the marshall Origin
I've owned many old Marshall's. I have short video up jamming my origin 50 has through my Marshall vintage cab. I think they're good amps! I ran a boost with eq into amp. Check it out 👍

You are right. The Origin 50 is a good sounding Marshall at a good price.

Amazing video , what people do is expect they can play at bedroom levels and that's not the case .even 5 watts of tube power full board is loud

It’s just a corporate doing corporate stuff. They are always looking to get any cost savings.

Sounds really nice.
Bought the combo new. It was biased to hot from the factory, and ate some tubes!

Perfect for doom but cranked like that ruins the fx loops quality
Not experienced that but I don’t use the fx loop on mine

It’s junk and techs hate them.
@75YBA I said it sounds good I didn't say anything about working on them. Who cares if techs hate them.
Thank you for keeping the dream of a tube amp blowing the wind behind you.sadly kids won't know

Try to find a thd attenuator..awesome with a marshall

Its not a bad amp at sll i had a 100 watt plexi stack in 70s that was ok as this is ok if used correctly
Is that a peavey with the thrash button?

Good call on the pedals thing.
My sf twin breaks up but I use pedals to add a bit of colour to the sf dirt.
On low it should be 4,5 V, old recharging battery pack not included, I guess. Namastè.
Great video but...I dont think a Marshall JCM has 4 inputs. I can be wrong but great video regardless.
I meant to say Plexi but I said JCM for some reason!
@@BigJakeMusic I figured as much. I also feel the Origin doesnt get the love it deserves.
which speakers do you use g12t75 or vintage 30
mg cabs prob come with 7080s.
My BOSS IR-2 is a poor man's Plexi.
😂
Now to me that amp sounds harsh and unpleasant. But then again I'm just looking for a warmer sounding amp. I had a Marshall and sold it.

first! 💀
Poor quality and techs don’t like them.
These sound less than desirable in every demo I've heard so far. Not a great line.
i've got the SV20H. the origin 50 sounds like a marshall to me too, like the guy said. quit yer corksniffin.
Tubes are soldered in the board??? 👎🏼
