I followed a walk through and set my ps5 connection to static and added the ports you listed, works in network but not outside, should I switch the ps5 settings from static back to regular like I had it ?
To everybody that is still getting a black screen when connecting remotely, a crucial piece of information is that for the “Host” when registering a console manually, you need to enter your router’s IPv4 WAN address. It can be found somewhere in your router’s settings depending on ISP. Personally I have Xfinity so it was in the app. The PS5’s IP doesn’t work, the LAN doesn’t work, the WAN does. Not trying to overshadow OP’s video at all but I don’t think this was mentioned in the video and it’s the one thing that finally got it working for me. Running Chiaki on my ROG Ally away from home while at work.
I also have XFinity as my ISP and used the IP address from from whatsmyip.org. The same IP address showed on my PS5 and on my cellphone when connected to Wifi. Glad to hear you got it working.
Can also find ur ipv4 by typing cmd in your windows menu on your computer When the command prompt shows up type ipconfig and press enter. It will show you your ipv4 addresss.
IP address - great video Overkill - might be worth noting for others, when setting the port forwarding, if your router requires you to type an IP address, you should use the static address for your Playstation - you can find this in the connection settings on the console under IPv4. I was stuck on that bit for a while 😖
Bro!! Thank you thank you thank you. This is by far the best video that shows how to port forward, You made it so simple and straightforward. I have been trying since last year to do this. Finally got it and it was because of your instructions. Appreciate it a lot.
Great video man. One thing I would include if you update this is how to use a dynamic DNS service if you have a dynamic IP and how to recognize if your connection is under CGNAT. Both of these will prevent the Steam Deck from connecting to the PS5, but both are pretty easy to remove, though it depends on your ISP.
@@OVERKILLGAMING786 CGNAT is basically like an ISP grade router. Some ISPs implement it and it doesn't allow the port forwarding rules to stick since port forwarding is only done on a local level. Hence why I assume so many people here are having trouble connecting to their PS5s. Once I asked my ISP to remove it, connection to the PS5 worked just fine. Highly depends on the ISP if they allow it though. I'm just glad mine does.
If you are using Chiaki on deck in Windows, you MUST get the unlocked WiFi drivers. The default drivers suck. I had all kinds of dropped connections and lag spikes until I switched drivers. When he says 0 latency, he means 0 latency. I can play MK11 and win matches online using remote play. It actually doesn't even make any sense when you understand how streaming technology works.
The port forwarding part is rushed, but its the most complicated part of this tutorial, lol, would be nice if it wasnt a scroll of the ports already set
If you run into a controls issue on the Ally, you can add Chiaki to Armory Crate and use it to map the Esc and T buttons to the M1 and M2 buttons, otherwise there will be no mapping for the PS and touchpad buttons. Also be sure to select Gamepad mode as the default on the profile.
The only issue is of course if you have dynamic ip addresses and those can change of course either if your router turns off or your ISP needs to change them for whatever reason. Nevertheless cool guide and proving once again that the PlayStation portal is useless and that Sony should have just invested in software for existing handhelds. Hell if it was functional I'd even pay for that!
You are correct. I actually have a dynamic IP address through my provider. My IP address only really changes when the Modem is rebooted. So, for example if there is a power outage and services are restored I may end up with a new ip address. That doesn't happen often, so I rarely ever have to set up Chiaki again because of a change of IP address.
It still works......with the PS Remote App and Chiaki 🙄🙈 hardcore complicated I think the problem by PS Remote is my bad connection outside the home network and chiaki with your ports and forwarding on the router and 1 more i found on a page.....but host adress is not the current for example of my phone, it is everytime the one, the PS gets^^ And allow everything in private settings in the browser, in the PS account^^
To use remote play away from home you have click on or do it from the manual setup right ?. I’m using my Steam deck and i was trying to play away from home in Gaming mode which doesn’t seem to work away from home , works fine on my home network . I guessing i have to do it from desktop using the manual setup .
So, basically you'll want to connect using the manual profile you set up. To test it if it works you can use your cell phone as a hotspot and connect to it. This is how I tested it. When you are away from home connect to a wifi wherever you are and you should be able to connect remotely
@@OVERKILLGAMING786 Ok got it working . My problem was My Mac which i used to look up my modem IP address was on a different wifi network than my PS5, switch to the same network and got the correct IP address then tried with my iphone hotspot and it worked flawlessly . Thank you
Awesome guide, will this work for the new 2.2 version? I currently followed your 2.1 guide, would I need to redo the whole process after installing 2.2?
Quick question, what’s that app you’re using in the video that shows all the CPU, TDP, GPU, FPS information running across the top of the screen? It’s pretty cool. I’m looking for that type of app for my Aya Neo.
That is my custom overlay that I created. I have a video showing how I made it...th-cam.com/video/kkSWkBsA-e0/w-d-xo.html. You can also download mine in the discord in the Share your Overlays section
Doesn't work. The IP address directly from my router doesn't go passed the reg link part, unless I put the IP from the console instead. After that, dead end. Port forwarding does nothing. I get only a black screen when trying to play through my cellphone hot spot. it only works at home, on the same network. Wasted literally 6 hours today trying to get it to work. I give up. Wasted the rest of my day off for nothing.
Not sure what to tell you except that it has worked for me as well as many others and this video is evidence of that. I would try going through the steps again and following the steps very closely. I have set this up multiple times on both of my handhelds (Steam Deck and Ayaneo) with no issues. I have used this on other networks outside of my home network and with a cell connection. Obviously, results will vary based on the strength of the connection. In the video demonstration I was not connected to my home wifi network.
You might be under CGNAT bro. Had this problem also. Only worked after I requested my ISP to remove my connection from CGNAT. If you're under CGNAT then the port forwarding rules won't work since it's being blocked on the ISP level.
I have a Google home and when I go into the port forwarding section, it asks me to select a device, then type in the external and internal ports. There's no other options. What do I do? EDIT: I also get a "connection refused" error when I try to connect to my PS4
Not really familiar with Google Home. But it sounds like the process is basically the same. You will want to set up the ports and set the protocols to TCP/UDP. You will also want to make sure that you enter the correct IP Address into Chiaki. You can check this on the PS5 by pasting whatsmyip.org in chat app and then clicking on the link. This will open the site in a browser and you can see your ip address. This is the ip address you will enter into Chiaki. As far as the 'connection refused' error, I would double check your USER ID and the Pin that the PS5 provides during registration.
How do you do port forward in a router that ask for device ( PlayStation), protocol, start ports, end ports. Then asks for Wan ports. What do you fill with the start and end port in WAN ports?
What kind of router do you have exactly? Is this an all-in-one modem/router? Or is it a separate router from your modem? Also, what is make and model? Maybe I can look up some info
I have a deco router and it is very complicated. I can't figure out how to do port forwarding on it since it asks for service type and a internal and external port number and is weird trying to forward multiple ports. Any help? Much appreciated
So i entered my ip address under manual registration, my account id, and my device pin, but when i click register it says timed out (failed). It registers just fine the standard way. What am i doing wrong?
So you just enable the port forwarding process on your router settings? You haven’t gotta do anything manually on the ps5 connection settings have you?
Fair enough i already have chiaki registered, just didn’t understand the port forwarding process as there isn’t many videos regarding this, especially with my router from the uk
Got a new PS5 and tried this again but this time it didn't or doesn't work. keep getting this error: [I] Regist starting search [I] Regist sending search packet [E] Regist timed out waiting for search response [E] Regist search failed
Hey Overkill Gaming, Great Vid! but im stuck on a part that maybe you could help me with, when i set up port fowarding on my internet app which is spectrum, it asks for a name, then an external & internal port, so which one would i put the numbers into? and what does the name have to be?
@@OVERKILLGAMING786 awesome im not sure which name you need so my username is von_033 and my display name is VonCapalot! i appreciate the help man look foward to getting me right!
For the error ”chiaki session has quit connection refused in session request” You just have to send a wakeup packet first (right click it and you shall see the option) Then wait for 10 secs for your PS5 to turn on, and you are good to go. It’s not about the wrong IP at all if u set everything right.
Hi, i am not sure what to put on my port range (external). I am also using app to control my router but i am confuse with the digits. Can you tell me what should i put on my port range (external), local port and source ip? These are 3 blanks that i need to fill. Tq
I tried everything, my ps5 is wired to a router in my room thats wired to the modem. tried port forwarding, double checked the account id and pin and ip address. still cant get it to work. If i enter everything manually, i get regist search error, if i select the already registered console, just get a black screen
Everything work fine until I want to back out a game I had a controller setup for touch pad using back buttons my setup not being save I feel like I have to change it every time I use chiaki now it keep using default settings
Any tips on this issue - chiaki session has quit: unknown error in stream connection. I have done port forwarding, also found the ip address from the link you provided used that on the console. I am trying to connect out of my house network and use while on the road with my rog ally
Someone said the error has something to do with the PS controller being on and associated with the console... "I discovered this issue, too, and was able to replicate and solve. For me, it was an issue with controller association. If, when the PS4 turns on or wakes up, the controller is associated with the console and you then start Chiaki, the error throws. You have to either send the wake up packet or start the console by pushing the power button on the console. Don't turn on your controller until Chiaki has started. I was also able to turn the controller off and then start Chiaki. Either of these paths prevent the controller from being associated with the PS4."
The port forwarding section seems really glossed over. I’ve fixed the ip of my ps5, made a port forward using that ip, and then nothing. No console appears in chiaki unless I’m on the same internet.
Unfortunately I don't have that type of router. I would suggest dropping by our discord and seeing if anyone there is familiar with port forwarding on a spectrum router or checking reddit.
I am in the same boat…. You basically will put in the internal / external correct ports under your spectrum advanced settings and then will need to port forward set up and turn off IPV6. I’m testing that out currently to see if it works.
@@jonathanmartin4293 I have spectrum, it’s not going to work. So I just installed windows OS and downloaded the official PS remote play. After that you have to install drives to get your steam deck controller to work. Easy 👍🏿
I have spectrum and it worked for me you have to call spectrum technical support and tell them what you want and give them the port number like he showed you
Have you tried sending a wake up packet before launching the main window? You can do this by right clicking on the PS5 icon and selecting send wake up packet. You should hear the PS5 beep. If this doesn't work I would double check the port assignments
@@OVERKILLGAMING786 thanks it works but when I try to use it away from home it doesn’t. Been messing with this for awhile now and no idea why it won’t work.
How did you get the sony ps5 option for the port forwarding? From the list of devices connected, the Sony PS5 isn't even an option on the drop menu for some reason. I have it hardwired via moca is that why? Also did the ip address next to the "sony playstation 5" appear automatically after you selected it?
Yes. It still works. Just tested it on my ROG Ally with the Ally connected to my cell phone hotspot and it is working fine. More than likely it could be your ip address that you entered as the Host in Chiaki. What I recommend is to check the ip address from a browser on the PS5 by visiting www.whatsmyip.org. The ip address that it shows is the ip address that I enter into Chiaki. Sometimes this ip address can change if the modem gateway is reset. That is when I would get the black screen. Then I update the IP address in Chiaki and it works.
@@OVERKILLGAMING786 Messing around and got it to work somewhat finally. Had to do the port forwarding over and it worked to connect. Issue is I hear sound but the picture is just a grey screen. Not sure if that’s a bad cell connection or what. Are there any video settings that need to be changed?
is it really necessary to use the DNS? Sadly I have a Cox Gateway router and I cannot log into the router settings or change the DNS through the app? Thanks for the video!
hello I have a problem, on my steam deck playing with ps5 the audio is heard as crashed or bad, I tried to delete the file that you show in the video but I cannot locate the directory, if you could tell me where it is I would appreciate it.
@@OVERKILLGAMING786hello good, well no and I don't know how to do it, I tried to type window in properties but nothing, even in the folder search engine I searched and nothing.
Hey Overkill gaming! I'm trying to set up my port forwarding connection on my wifi mesh router and here it's asking for internal and external ports, how would I enter my ports in? On your screen, it just asks for one set of numbers, if you can please help that'd be greatly appreciated!
I enter all the information and hit register. Then just tells me it timed out and search failed. Any help would be appreciated. Only gives my issue when doing manual.
I’m confused about the port forwarding process , I have an external port start and end and a internal port start and end , so it asking me for 4 numbers for tcp/udp
I just have one issue. The app is working fine but the ps button and the touch pad button aren't working in my steamdeck(running windows). I thought maybe it isn't mapped properly so I tried to change this in settings but it's not recognising the input when remapping.
Hmmm.... Are you running any other type of controller support software in th ebackground (i.e. Hanhdeld COmpanion, SDT)? If yes, have you tried disabling it when running Chiaki? Try that and see if there is any difference.
Everything is good but the port forwarding I see you have Xfinity and I copied your numbers but it doesn’t work on a different Wi-Fi am I putting the wrong numbers or should I restart my router after I put the numbers in?
Restarting the router shouldn't be necessary. How does your setup differ from mine? I use an all-in-one modem/router. If you are using separate devices (modem and router) then it may differ slightly. The modem would supply an IP address to your router and your router will provide an IP address to your PS5. Let me know if this represents your specific setup
I think it's because you might have Desktop Layout enabled which causes the controls to act like a mouse. To fix this we will want to toggle off Desktop Layout in the settings. I set up a hotkey to do this easily.
Where do I fwd 987 and 9308 to, I have Verizon each time I have to put a original port and fwd to port there’s only 2 boxes for ports and they both have to be filled
Hey I can’t set port 9308 bc it says it’s being used by internal services, also I’m on ps4 I’ve heard ports might be different but I’m not sure this is pretty alien to me but I’d love to be able to remote play anywhere. Any tips? Thank you
when i delete the audio dll my chiaki just doesnt make sound at all do you know why ? pls as much as playing with 0 delay is awesome, its just unplayable with this audio crackling
I have not encountered this issue on my systems after deleting the audio file. Are you sure you deleted the right file? There are two files in the audio folder. The one you want to delete is the qtaudio_windows.dll. You can drop by Discord so we can take a look at it
hey great video! i seem to be having an issue setting up the connection on chiaki4deck. I keep getting "regist search failed" when i put in the pin and hit register.
This works on Windows. Emulators no longer work for the official PS Remote Play app after the update. This works and is actually better than the official app
9 times out of 10 its going to be the IP address or the user id. What you can do is double check the IP address on your console itself by accessing the whatsmyip.org website from the console.
at 0:22 when you say a recent update disabled non-ps5 controllers from the ps remote app, where did you hear this? i used to remote play with my xbox controller in windows, but now it just doesnt work anymore, which i suspect is exactly what you are describing, but cant find anywhere to corroborate what im seeing
I heard it from the devs who made the Handheld Companion app. One day everything was fine and the next day all third party dual shock 4 emulator apps stopped working all at once.
you have mentioned that we need the IP address of our modem, does this work if im connected to my ps5 via router, do i need to input my router’s ip? Thanks!
That is a good question. For sure you will need the address of the actual modem because you will need the address that is accessible outside of the home network. The router works on the local network and is given a local ip address by the modem. The router itself won't be accessible outside of the local network. So you may have to forward packets from the modem to the router to specific ports on the router to reach the PS5
I’m super new to all of this but I’m a bit confused on the port section. To be perfectly honest, I’m not even really sure what a port is so forgive me if I sound silly. Anyways, I pulled up port forwarding on my computer, but I’m not sure how to type the numbers in that you provided because it says ‘starting port’ and then below that is a section that says ‘ending port.’ Do I just type in 978 as my starting and then 9297 as my ending, or is it more complicated than that? Any help would be greatly appreciated and thank you for your time!!!
So, in the video we showed all of the ports that need to be set to TCP/UDP. Some of them are a range of ports and some are individual. As for the ranges, they are 9302-9305 and 9295-9297. So, for example in the range 9302-9305, the starting port would be 9302 and the ending 9305. Same for 9295-9297. Then you have a couple of individual ports; 987 and 9308. These are not part of the range so you will need to open them individually as TCP/UDP ports. My router gives me the option to open a range of ports and individual ports.
@@OVERKILLGAMING786 thanks for the guide. In my router I have the option for Local and External ports. Which should I use in this case? Thanks in advance
Incase nobody knows there's a way to remote play from another network with zero port forwarding or anything just press the gear icon and log in to psn and copy redirect url and paste something like that and it works!
I had it Chiaki setup for my PS5 to use only on home wifi , do i need to delete that and do the process all over to get it connected when i'm away from my home network or just add this for remote play away from home ?.
Nope. Just need to create a manual profile as shown in the video. You'll use the one you have already for wifi and the new one for when you are away from home.
@@OVERKILLGAMING786 Aahh!, i did that and thought something was wrong when it said the device was already registered but it did add a manual profile which I deleted . Also I have Xfinitty , so my ports are the same as yours . I have two different wifi networks and i tried it on the one my PS5 isn't connected to and it work , don't know if that's a true test . Will test tomorrow when i'm out and about.
I have been trying to do this. Although my router only gives me the choice of local range in- local range out, external range in/out. I have not done this before so hoping someone may be able to help?
Failing epicly followed word for word but when I add my device to chiaki it fails I put in up adresa and pin just like you said but as soon as it runs it says “regist search failed” any advice
@@OVERKILLGAMING786 yes i did and unfortunately just didn’t work for me. I ended up just downloading remote play from ps and using reWASD that way works flawless. Thanks anyways great bud!
I want to use some application for Xbox remote play far from home, I have mobile hotspot at home and I will be using my friend's mobile hotspot on Steamdeck for remote play. Can you tell how to do it.
I don't own an Xbox, but I believe you can connect remotely to your XBox console through the Xbox app in Windows on the Steam Deck. I don't believe this is possible in SteamOS
Mine connects to the ps4 but the screen is black then it says Chiaki session has quit unknown error in stream connection. Any ideas how to get past that?
It says that registering failed in your video. Mine did the same as I already have the one I use at home setup. How do I fix the “regist search failed” error?
In my case, i had a typo in my ip address one digit was off. I double-checked the ip, made the change and it worked fine after that. In most cases this is caused by an incorrect ip address. You can double-check the ip address by opening up a browser on the PS5, going to whatsmyip.org and it will tell you the ip address of the PS5.
@@OVERKILLGAMING786 thanks will open up browser on PS5 , will try it out one more time so far if it does actually go thru, it won’t send package or create dialog box to send Wake up package while in Gaming mode 🥲
Sorry if this has been answered but I couldn't find it in the comments, When i try and register my IP address i get an error "Regist timed out waiting for response for search response" Anyone else have this issues and know how it can be fixed?

This definitely helped me with my setup. Had to use the WAN IPv4 address
I do the same in the same network and then invalid PSN ID.....but this is mine -.-
Ok so just to clarify you can't be on an ethernet connection while playing outside home network?
Can also find ur ipv4 by typing cmd in your windows menu on your computer When the command prompt shows up type ipconfig and press enter. It will show you your ipv4 addresss.
IP address - great video Overkill - might be worth noting for others, when setting the port forwarding, if your router requires you to type an IP address, you should use the static address for your Playstation - you can find this in the connection settings on the console under IPv4. I was stuck on that bit for a while 😖
For anyone wondering, I just got a steam deck and this still does work. Make sure to open ports and bingo. Great video!
Bro!! Thank you thank you thank you. This is by far the best video that shows how to port forward, You made it so simple and straightforward. I have been trying since last year to do this. Finally got it and it was because of your instructions. Appreciate it a lot.
Awesome! Glad to hear you got it working!
Yeah, i'll look into that. I actually have a Dynamic IP. But, it only changes if the modem is reset. I will have to look into the CGNAT
I'm just glad mine does.
love this! followed everything. best tutorial for chiaki so far! great job!
If you need help, drop by Discord
Great easy to follow tutorial. Just wanted to know will this work on a steam deck running Linux or is this only those running windows? Thanks.
Chiaki will actually run on both windows and Linux
GOAT level content right here. Thanks bruv.
Thanks mate!
It still works......with the PS Remote App and Chiaki 🙄🙈 hardcore complicated
I think the problem by PS Remote is my bad connection outside the home network and chiaki with your ports and forwarding on the router and 1 more i found on a page.....but host adress is not the current for example of my phone, it is everytime the one, the PS gets^^
And allow everything in private settings in the browser, in the PS account^^

Yes. This will also work with version 2.2
Quick question, what’s that app you’re using in the video that shows all the CPU, TDP, GPU, FPS information running across the top of the screen? It’s pretty cool. I’m looking for that type of app for my Aya Neo.

Is there any chance of a Chiaki4deck tutorial for Windows systems?

Awesome! I was planning to do a video on PS Remote Play on the Ally. Glad to know it works
@@OVERKILLGAMING786looking forward mate🎉
I have exactly the same problem! I don’t know how to fix it.
The NAT Type must be 2 or can it fit with 3 ? On the phone for example....
You might be under CGNAT bro. Had this problem also. Only worked after I requested my ISP to remove my connection from CGNAT. If you're under CGNAT then the port forwarding rules won't work since it's being blocked on the ISP level.
Be cautious to port forwarding I was just notified by my isp that a malicious IP address was trying to access my ps5 open ports!
Can you do a port forwarding guide for steam os?
It's actually the same for SteamOS
What am i doing wrong?
im getting the same problem

So you just enable the port forwarding process on your router settings? You haven’t gotta do anything manually on the ps5 connection settings have you?
All I had to do was set up the port forwards in my router, register Chiaki on the PS5, and that's it.
Fair enough i already have chiaki registered, just didn’t understand the port forwarding process as there isn’t many videos regarding this, especially with my router from the uk

Still needing help as the spectrum port forwarding options DO NOT let me use dashes or commas, only numbers. And asks for internal and external

Does this still work outside of home network? I’m getting nothing but a black screen no matter what I try. Works at home tho.
That is when I would get the black screen. you have mentioned that we need the IP address of our modem, does this work if im connected to my ps5 via router, do i need to input
my router’s ip?

Right off the bat it sounds like a network issue, like a weak connection
Same here man Idk why
Its usually the ip address or userID. But whenever it happened to me most of the time it was the ip address. But I would double check both
Aww man. None of this worked for me and I got ATT internet. I appreciate the video though. I did get the home net work part work but thats it 😔
We can see if we can get it to work. Just drop by our Discord. We have helped many others.
I'm having too much white flickering/green image then playing on home internet. Any tips?
We included some tips on how to configure Chiaki. Did you follow those steps also?

You should be able to right click and see an option to extract the files
Sorry if this has been answered but I couldn't find it in the comments, When i try and register my IP address i get an error "Regist timed out waiting for response for search response" Anyone else have this issues and know how it can be fixed?
Stop by the Discord and I can assist you there.

I know this is an older video, but does anyone know how to disable the controller input when the window isnt focused?
Ability to use a mic is rough but I can play. Latency is questionable.
