My wife and I built a rammed earth House in Northern British Columbia Canada... Everything that is said in this video about environmental and personal health is 100% true even when the temperatures get to -30c 😊
This is awesome. Just a reminder the ultimate goal of these experiments should be to create structures that can affordably be implemented at scale for the masses. Modularity should also be considered for an elastic population.
It's not going to be affordable until we get together to build together. The Amish people for example come together as a community for large project including moving barns by dozens of people lifting them and walking, carrying the barn
Kopila valley school has similar structure as well. This Matoghar was so beautiful and it was the mixture of both indigenous knowledge with sustainable materials. Temperature as well as earthquake resilient ❤
Inspiring work indeed. It would be interesting to know the waterproofing techniques that you have used inside the toilet and bathroom, and also the flooring construction for secondary floor.
I would request down to earth channel to expand their public reaching by launching episodes in regional languages . Your videos are need of the hour as they teach transformation in sustainable way
I would request Down to earth to pls. conduct workshops for Mud work, if possible in all major cities of our country to connect all enviornment lovers 🙏🙏🙏
I wish we had this in the US. We use commercial construction materials and those houses last maybe 100 years or 150 years at most. The pueblos and Irish cottages last centuries use earth. Earth is fireproof too. We just had massive fires in our state California. Earth is more termite proof, better air quality, better humidity regulation. It’s far superior. And it’s beautiful.
It's usually 1/3rd of the cost to build than using cement and concrete etc. However, their is a constant maintenance requirements every year or couple of years based in the area you're living in.
@nehashashni699 After the raining season, you need to repair the damage or wet walls, need to plastering the walls and a bit of extra care compared to the other. I'm going to build my own mud house. 💪
Wonderful job! Kudos you guys! By the way can we construct a rammed earth house above a concrete house ? I mean the ground floor is concrete cemented and can we build a rammed earth one?
Would you please open up the cost of this house in Godawari, Kathmandu. I also want to build this kind of a house for myself. Just want to know if this is affordable in Nepal.
I like the idea very much.I have a plot of land at Lamatar near Lubu. Can you design and build a house on that land for me like the one you have mentioned ?
Its beautiful ofcourse. But mu personal preference will be plastering it with lime. Lime is also a natural material qith some added benifits. Also no need to paint it will be white as an egg shell.

M quite curious for the composition used for earth excavation that's done in the initial part of the process for plains, with tropical condition climate
Bro how u guys are maintaining this house like what are the maintenance charges applicable for this house in coming life span and how you guys provided water proofing most importantly how did you calculate the load of the rammed earth wall
Using steel bars as reinforcement in rammed earth walls?any proof that this helps??Any structure of this type surviving earthquake????Any documented proof sir??
Hi. I see, that you probably used in your framework geoplast panels. Do you recommend it? I plan to buid RE house and now I'm trying to find modular frame, which I can use many times in the future.
It looks well done, but something is missing compared to beautiful traditional buildings. The finish, and painting with good color combination would help
Umm! Yah if we can't change others then we must have to start from ourself to show the world. And of course I do believe ! We all human being need to learn that, " how to live life with the God creation beautiful nature."
I wish to build house using rammed earth technique, to bring back vernacular earthen houses. But, videos Down to Earth provide, are costly. I don't find anyone who could advise properly. There are some NGOs, but they are simply minting money by the name of training.
How can i get in touch with some the people that built his ? i am building a house in the indian himalayas very close to Nepal, and i am very attracted by this method of building . Would love to get advice from some people with experience .
If you used only hands instead of shovels and form work you could have created even more jobs! (Machines and tools are a blessing. There is no shame in using them, and it actually is wise to.) 3:09
😅😅😅 Not using insulation on the outer side wall like he or Celulose R. and the insulation done in the roof and the bottom is not specified so I’m very interested in what you use there😊

what about when the get to plus 40c does it still work?
Im blown away. There is nothing to dislike here !!

Good work but just for my concern, what will happen during rainy season? Isn't that rain washed the wall time by time from outside?
these things are so underrated frrrr

They should share cost of construction, cost of maintenance and life of building as well.
It would be nice to know the budgets too, was wondering how much would it cost for the whole project to finish. 😅

There is no need for maintenance, only two coats of linseed oil for anti-termination.
