The clients for the project were two girls, Meethi and Mishti, 3 and 9 years respectively. The house was to be made for them, as per their fancies and to appeal to their sensitivities. The architects conceptualized the home to be eco-friendly, with a focus on local materials and techniques, upcycling, recycling, and ensuring a minimal carbon footprint.
Structural walls were built by ramming earth, excavated from the site itself. The earth provides thermal insulation and reduces energy consumption. 'Meethi Mishti Nu Mati Ghar', or 'Meethi and Mishti's Earth House', reflects the courageous approach leading to this experimental design using natural and sustainable construction materials.
Principal Architect Naman Shah of Sferablu Architects walks us through this beautiful house, explaining the unique elements and construction techniques.

When I built my house 26 years ago, in Madras, I wanted a mud / rammed earth house, but did not find anyone who could do it for me.
Happy to know someone has finally made a modern house out of mud . 👍
It's designed, orchestrated and lived in every day all around Africa for 1,000's of years.

@@brinohosey7498 all over Africa - even to this day. visit rural uganda, ethiopia, kenya, malawi, zambia etc. PLUS, they ram it with their feet - no pretentiousness about it. Long live motherland. The world must really be blind because these houses are all over Africa and no one considers them breath taking.

This is one of the most unique designs I have seen. Just love it how custom-made this project is for the clients! Even the presentation of this video is a tier above the rest because of the presence of the architect on site explaining the details! Just amazing!

Very few architects in India can design and build such a magnificent house and that too with experimental techniques. It truly is a work of art. Kudos to all the people involved who helped in creating this masterpiece. I hope our construction methodologies shift towards such greener and eco-friendly methods as concrete jungles are a sight for the sore eyes.
This home is any child's paradise. I just couldn't get over the indoor slide. 🥰🥰🥰
Building earth house of this huge size is one thing..but the fact that client accepted experimenting is really great.
And the Architect didn't fail him. My favorite part of the video is when the Architect talks about how women of the house wants to see their children eat when she is in kitchen..that's lovely in every way.
We agree, clients need to be brave and positive people.

THE ENTIRE EARTH Ahmedabad home is brilliant in all areas of design and landscaping and one of my favorite rammed earth homes to study for excellence in livability and design with function for a family to enjoy a modern space with ergonomic principles throughout.
The girls seem so happy in the house, they will have beautiful memories from that house once they grow up.

This was very fascinating and fun to watch. It would neat to see an update at 10, 20 and 30 years to learn how the home holds up/changes. I would love a transparent roof in my home. ❤

This is a kind of home anyone would want to have for their children…absolutely in love with the whole project specially the slide and the children bedroom…

This is the most organic architecture as you can get. The facade has a Robie House feel to it by FLW. Awesome house.

Could you advise what are the advantages of rammed earth houses aside from being Eco-friendly?
@@imranvp2730they are breathable, nontoxic, fireproof, thermally efficient, mold, mildew and pest proof, very structurally strong and resilient from seismic events. Oh and they're beautiful to boot!

Though the sad part was "dont know what will happen to these walls in 50yrs", people who stayed in ancestral village homes say their mud house is strong since grandparents era. They should learn more indepth and have complete knowledge from our rural architects

The children room is so fun! and the secret room with the ladder too. The slide along the staircase too! No kids would not love this house. I can see the couple's characters here. Very minimalistic design in their bedroom.
