First time viewer. Do we really need cameras on your faces? We only have so much screen to see the actual game, not to mention the center of the screen taken up by the most recent card image. Having mics is enough.
I love that Ben is always down to build decks for everybody, but its getting a tad ridiculous that he always has to build three decks for every stream.
I believed banishing light before someone pointed it out. I was very sad you guys were doing it wrong before the judges told you. I'm glad you live stream your games so you don't miss that stuff
55:23 Funny you should say that... deckstats.net/decks/106024/1061677-salmon-fishing-with-the-yennet There's a single spell in the deck with an even converted mana cost (Lightning Greaves, which I look to replace with a Champion's Helm in the near future), the rest of the deck is pure odd-numbered janky goodness. Yes, Void Winnower is in there. Commander is Yennett, Cryptic Sovereign of C18 glory.
Just for everybody who thinks Westvale Abbey is illegal in Ben's deck technically it is not because when it flips over the creature doesn't have a Mana cost therefore it doesn't have a black symbol on it therefore it is not a black creature and it is not illegal to play in any deck it is considered colorless
Tass afrass Unfortunately it does and it is. Double faced cards have the colour identity of both faces. For example, Garruk Relentless has the Golgari colour identity as his front his green and back is black. Westvale Abbey is a colourless land on one face and a black creature on the other. This is denoted by a little colour pip to the left of the type line.
If you ever come to Sweden, and specifically a little nowhere called Ljungby, there's a big model city that might interest you, Graham. It's like one of two attractions only, though, alongside an elk park :/
I see a lot of people cast Everflowing Chalice with only one or two counters on it after playing other cards. Is there any particular reason they don't just wait a turn and pump it as hard as possible?
How does your card recognition for constructed decks word? In the older videos were you explain the setup it is said, that deckedbuilder only works with 4 sets.
Wait hold on there, after that nuke goes off w/ oblivion stone, and kozi comes back those fireballs are on the stack, doesn’t kozi counter spells? He possibly could have stoped the fireballs?
Anyone else start singing the Wellerman sea shanty when Ian said the shusher man? I just started singing: Soon may the susherman come to protect from spells and abilities for 1 One day when the lightning bolt comes we'll take our leave and go~ XD
When looking at an X card, X is evaluated as 0 unless it's on the stack/being cast. I think that does mean the value of X the spell would be cast for can't make the spell even while void winnower is around.
@@camyron here is the rule For spells with {X} in their mana costs, use the value chosen for X to determine if the spell’s converted mana cost is even or not. For example, your opponent could cast Endless One (with mana cost {X}) with X equal to 5, but not with X equal to 6. (2015-08-25)
A commander gets exiled with an enchantment, which is then sent to the command zone. If that enchantment is destroyed it returns from the command zone!? Does anyone have proof of the ruling? It seems very wrong.
It only works on card where the exile effect is written as a single clause, such as banisher priest and banishing light, this is because returning the permanent to the battlefield is not contingent on what zone it is in, it just says ‘return’. However, if the card refers to ‘the exiled card’, such as on cards like oblivion ring and fiend hunter, it will not return a commander from the command zone
Ah yeah this ineraction is a wierd one. I havent actually watched up to the point you are talking about but i think i know what you are talking about. Cards like banishing light, banisher priest etc do wierd things with commanders. These cards return the exiled card from the zone it went to when exiled. Because going to the command zone is a replacement effect, the banisher priest sees that the zone it sent the card to was the command zone so when it leaves play the commander gets pulled back out of the command zone. However, similar effects that have the effect in 2 seperate clauses, i.e oblivion ring and fiend hunter, specifically state 'return the exiled card to the battlefield' so they check to see if the card is still exiled when they leave play so the commander will not return under these circumstances. Another note is that if the exiled commander gets re cast and subsequently killed again then the banisher priest gets removed, the commander will not return to the battlefield
This is such a late comment that there was an entire pandemic in front of it - BUT “problema” is always spelled “problema” AND it’s always “el problema.” Spanish has a handful of these weird exceptions, mostly for words whose origins are Greek. I feel so much for Matt and that Slivers Deck. Anytime I played mine, the game became Archenemy super quickly. I wasn't allowed to have anything on the field. Despite not getting a single win with it ever due to the constant persecution against them. Was there an infinite Slivers combo in there. Sure. But the rest of the deck was just Slivers jank, more or less.
It's because slivers are just explosively unstoppable if it does it's thing. It's the perfect example of 'give them an inch and they'll take a mile'. One turn they all have +2/+2 and trample and it's not too bad. Then suddenly they have hexproof and indestructible and are impossible to get rid of. So people no longer give slivers an inch. But yeah, I guess it sucks as a sliver player. Then again, they're a sliver player, soo.. :p
Where are the Tutors and the Darkest Hour Graham? You need to make the spirits BLACK so you can go infinite. and just EXILE ALL THE CREATURES!!!!! Its ok though if you don't like to do that.
Kozelik, an eldrazi titan, enormous but can’t block a flyer. They should have a rule in which cards that are physically huge have reach unless they would be unable to such as a big wall can’t reach up stop a flyer but a giant can grab a bird out of the air.
Right...cause the Eldrazi aren't already ridiculously powerful enough. I just love the argument that they are fair cause they cost so much to cast. As if most people that play them do so at a normal pace. I don't think I have ever seen anyone get out any of the Titans without some sort of ridiculous mana ramp or cheating it out in some way. Cost is an invalid argument when it comes to EDH where you have access to stupid amounts of ramp and other various ways to get them out way sooner than they would normally.

It would be more compelling if everybody played decks of their own construction, even if it meant increasing the amount of time between each FNPF episode.
Holy fuck what a misplay. Ian should have been dead after the turn emrakul took from him. do what you did originally and have him tapped out and have him attack with his only creature, block it with emrakul. Boom open field, out of the game next turn. back to 3 eldrazi titans on the field.

Wow sorry but wow... I have played magic for just above a year and although magic have TONS of rules the rule about commander going back to the commandzone is basic knowlege for Commander play! If you commander gets anything on it-> remove, pick upp, exile, destroy anything the owner can CHOOSE to put the commander into the commandzone and add commadertax. Basic commander rule. The thing that makes me amazed is that this is far from the first time you play commander on your channel. How did you not know this?
The Friday Night Paper Fight commander games are definitely my favorites.
I'm definitely a Canlander guy. But the casual friendliness and banter is definitely awesome in the Commander games
Would be more enjoyable if they would be better players.

Whenever you cast an X spell, X isn't considered when you count cmc, if I'm correct. So if a card costs {X}{R}, then the cmc would be 1. I think.
