Do you use any of these functions on your e bike?

I use the Kiox, and like the human power, heart rate and cadence. But I’d really like to see motor power in Watts too, so I can understand the power split between ride and motor in various modes.

Excellent review (and good PR for Bosch), everything you said is true, but you forgot (or shouldn’t) tell us some other things, I’ll tell you as a 6-month Kiox user:
      1. It is a 250€ device without a GPS sensor and it's completely dependent on the smartphone, if you do not have an internet connection, navigation will struggle or will not work at all, you GPS track will be interrupted ...
      2. Fitness ... all you have from Fitness is your HR (current, average and maximum), there is no option to adjust the HR range, and the engine will help you according to this setting (as the Specialized app does. ..)
      3. You can see the current altitude, but you will not see ascent and descent data, neither in the Bosch app !?!?
      4. There is no automatic upload to Strava or Garmin, you can do it only in web app manually, with mobile app you can't
      5. When you go on ride be sure that your mobile phone is fully charged because location data will drain you phone battery very quickly...you can charge phone thru Kiox but you have to buy Bosch cable (10 cm long ?!?!, totally useless, other cables doesn’t work)
      6. Lock function is OK but if you loose Kiox than you are in trouble...
Over all, good device but, it's to much dependent on internet network and that is not good for MTB trail users

I use the Nyon and my wife has the Kiox. We use this daily to track everything. The heart rate monitor is spotty and does not always connect but the other features work really well. We use the Sena helmets and it would be nice to get direction with verbal directions in the helmet. I also would like to see tire pressure monitoring.

Not to forget: You can even charge your phone via the Kiox display. You just need a cable to connect with correct adapter. And this is officially allowed. Check the manual!
I use this when navigating with Komoot on iPhone for longer rides

Please forgive me if this is a noob question, this is all very new to me.

    • @jakubdobrosielski5709

@@Mr_Blootered it's much better now. Ebike 2 system i something much different but I don't understand why Smart system is not backwords compatible. It have the same motor, just with Smart System, same battery again different port.
Smart system give you much more options but again Bosch don't allow to use other devices like Garmin to all fetures. You can connect Garmin to system but you can't control settings from Garmin display. You need to have LED Control od more to be able to do anything. Also Bosch lack when it comes to small controller, its big but much smaller than purion display. I would buy Bosch Smart System only becouse of new great SX motor. CX is still one od the best motors on the market but SX with 400wh battery waights only 4kg

I love using the Kiox. Great for navigation and seeing the effort put into a ride. One thing that doesn’t seem to work is great ascent value. It also seems to over estimate the climbing when transferred to Strava and compared to kamoot. I must have a setting wrong 🤯

Very nice video. Kiox is an amazing upgrade, But overall Bosch is locked in it's own ecosystem regarding connectivity....It would be great to be able to connect your Bosch ebike to your Garmin gps device. But then who would buy the other more expensive displays that Bosch is offering?

  • @vonyp6018
    @vonyp6018 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Heart rate monitor connection gives you accurate calories. I also use the navigation in bike parks as well as mountains... though I rarely publish my rides. I was just telling a mate today that an ebike with kiox beats any exercise bike that I ever used ! @ 18 months and 1500 miles, it's a great bit of kit. My only gripe is having to go to a dealer to activate the integrated light control ( for when I get compatible lights this winter )

Steve, Thanks for this look at "connectivity" and the BOSCH Kiox Display! I have 3 comments and a "best practices" for my Kiox and beyond. Comment 1: I love my 2021 Trek Rail 9.7, with the Gen. 4 Performance CX motor. 2. The BOSCH Connect app really drains your smartphone's battery! 3. Even after contacting BOSCH NA, I cannot connect my Kiox with STRAVA. Based on the 3 comments, my "best practice" is to use the Kiox display during my eMTB ride, but to use my Garmin smartwatch to sync up with STRAVA. Clint, The (USA) eBike Guy x2

    • @ChopperCindy

I have successfully uploaded my ride to Strava from the Kiox. It was such a convoluted procedure that I have forgotten exactly how it’s done! I believe that you can only do it by going through the Bosch website..not the connect app. I have set the website as a favourite on my iPad and after a ride I access the connect function and then my ride file and then upload to Strava. I haven’t been able to have it upload automatically but rest assured you can directly upload to Strava. If anyone has a better way I would be keen to find out how because, like you, I contacted Bosch and they could not give me any constructive help.

I want useful features that make the rides more fun than they already are. My Trek Rail sounds like a bag of spanners on rough terrain... 🙉 It really spoils the bike in my opinion. Can't connect as there is no interface with the Purion, besides don't have time or desire to look lovingly at a screen sa I prefer to not a hug a tree or plumet into a ravine.
