i noticed a lot of haldex problems , you have to be very carful to have exactly same tire dimensions on the rear and front . slightest difference due to wear or even different tire pressure will put massive pressure on haldex unit and transfer box . because the system will force all wheels to have same speed and those differences will result in clutch slip .
I did the oil change for the Haldex clutch and cleaning the screen of the pump but still not working. I used the obd 11 to pump the motor and makes noise and all but my s3 still front wheel drive only
Nice video mate, I think my haldex is gone in my s3, its now starting to will spin from the front when launching, even though its stock, would you say i could replace it myself, im pretty a hands on guy and worked on plenty of cars! would love to know, thanks mate!
The mechanical process is very simple and only requires a few tools. But the new pump needs to be calibrated (pump learn) which requires a special scan tool & laptop. If you don’t calibrate the new pump then it will likely wear out a bit faster. But replacing it a bit sooner may not matter if you saved hundreds of dollars on labour and the markup on parts. Replacement pump can be bought for US$280/AU$380 if you shop around. This job would cost AU$1,500 through an Australian Audi dealer, or AU$420 doing it yourself. Check the description in the link on my other video of this topic for a good instructional video.
@@DarkePeak Disabling wires from battery when replacing or cleaning pump helps with the need for calibration, otherwise calibration is "recommended" but not mandatory - every time you remove the pump from the car(vw manual)
Hi. Can you please answer on my question? I have problem with haldex gen5 also. When car is running and stationary i hear some noise (pzzzzzz)from the pump i guess, is that mean my pump is done or what?
You need to test the system (motion test on a hoist - all 4 wheels in the air and make sure they all turn when put in drive) and/or scan it for error codes using VCDS or similar.
This was a great help and was exactly what was wrong with mine. Good pump learn values but was ruined inside. Looked as worn as yours. 👍🏻

The video is very helpful, thanks! Is the VCDS enough to calibrate the pump? Or would it be necessary to go through official VW?

@@DarkePeak thank, you. I will test it today.
