Guys, the discussion I've heard on different podcasts about Mick and Magnussen is odd and Danny kinda dipped into it aswell. There's a heavy concensus against Magnussen keeping a seat, and then on the other hand the argument that Mick drove a shitbox and he deserves a spot. But it doesn't track. Magnussen obliterated Mick - there was no comparison at all. This was in Micks second year, where the car was vastly more competitive. Autosport did the same arguments for Mick and then confidently asserted that Magnussen doesn't have a place. Why doesn't the shitbox argument represent Magnussen, but with Mick it does? Seems like there's a bit of trial by reputation going on.
I noticed Autosport/Motorsport doing this as well. It's quite strange. They also have been doing something similar with the VCARB drivers. When Ricciardo beats Tsunoda (which he has been the clearly faster driver two weekends in a row now in the race), Autosport is quick to point out that Tsunoda had some issue, his strategy was different, or something similar. If Tsunoda beats Ricciardo, they ignore any type of factor like that and instead beat on the whole "Ricciardo is washed" drum when the reality is that outside of the first couple races of the season, the two drivers have been fairly closely matched in comparison to many of the driver pairings at other teams. I expect this type of thing on social media, but seeing major motorsports news publications doing it is quite unfortunate.
Yes, Drew, you got it right the first time! Nor-walk. The way you see it is the way it’s pronounced! Summit is a great time too 😊
