A truly beautiful and very deadly design....it took a terrible toll of allied aircraft and ruled the skies when it was a very early time of war.....thank you for keeping it where it belongs....in the air!!!

@@Jleed989 I agree but you left out other planes. Once the US captured and test flew a Zero, then all bets were off. The Zero had a problem in a diving right turn that the Allies exploited.

Great video 👍. I've seen this aircraft in several programs over years. It's such a beautiful and elegant aircraft. Im sure it must be a joy to fly. It's obviously a very rare treasure.

The one most cleanest and graceful of the WWII aircraft, along with the Spitfire.

I have seen this aircraft fly many times. The current restoration is remarkable indeed.
The really amazing thing to me is the size of the aircraft. In comparison to allied fighters of the day it is tiny.
Anyone who has the opportunity should visit the Planes of Fame Air Museum should go. It is a wonderful collection. The living history days once a month feature a different aircraft each time. They feature special guests including former pilots of these great planes and lots of discussion on the aircraft featured for the day. It all ends with the start up and flight of the day's featured aircraft. I believe the annual airshows are set to resume in May 2024. A must see event that has been on hold since the pandemic.
    I'll be there for sure.

It was arguably the best Naval Aviation fighter aircraft in the world at the time of it's deployment by the IJN through to 1943 and the US Navy employing Corsairs and Hellcats but even in those engagements pilots and tactics were likely the deciding factor over the aircraft. Later in the war the A6M still really only had the disadvantages of lower speed and durability to take damage compared to its US counterparts, but losing the speed advantage really meant they no longer controlled the engagement. The faster aircraft always has the option to fight or withdraw while the slower aircraft is always stuck in the fight until the enemy breaks off.

Excellent video. I thought there is another original Zero that was restored, and then sold to a rich Japanese and moved back over there. I find it curious for the plane in this video that the FAA registry lists the engine as unknown.

Thank you for your comment, Zero expert said mainly they used ethanol at war zone, but this alcohol is for only antifreeze the water, therefore ether methanol and ethanol used.

The Japanese had thousands of planes they scrapped themselves. In the immediate aftermath of WWII, Japan was very poor and they scrapped tons of old equipment including almost all their planes to sell for cash. They do have zeros on display though in Japan.
