I did not mention this in today’s vlog, but the photo hanging above our couch is one that I took in high school (back when I practiced amateur photography). A few of you really liked it (thank you!) and asked me to consider selling prints. Seeing as I have a few other photos from “back in the day,” I might do this in the future! But I really wanted to say thank you, because y’all have inspired me to pick up the camera again! When my mobility improves (whether though IVIG or my custom wheelchair) and the weather cools down in FL, I am going to attempt getting back into photography. 😊 It may not turn out great, but it sure will be fun!

Love you Jaquie!! I named my new Betta fish after you, because "keep moving forward" has become part of my daily mantra. She's blue, but still very pretty and always happy. :). I'm so happy your eval went so well!! I look forward to updates on it!

Hi Jaquie, I don't remember how your channel ended up in my feed, but I watched an episode a few weeks ago and now I look forward to seeing you every day. I am not chronically ill, but in the short time I've followed, I have a greater understanding of what you and others with chronic illnesses go through every day, and have since committed to complaining less about the things that should absolutely come easily for me, that you may struggle with. I hope that doesn't sound patronizing. You are an inspiration, and a breath of fresh air. Keep moving forward!

Just in the thumbnail picture, I can see the joy. God has a plan for everything and he is surely giving you his time right now. You seem to be doing better with your GI symptoms since getting the new feeding tube. The custom wheelchair is such an amazing tool and i know it will benefit you in the long run

I have mild Autism, (well, Asperger's, but it's not really on the spectrum anymore, I don't think.) I'm 16, and I got diagnosed at around 10. Having my label is so helpful. And I have IBS, while my mom has IBD, Crohn's, and gastro-issues. I'm really inspired by you!

It's so cool that 'wheelchair professionals' understand that wheelchair aren't just for people who physically can't walk. My mum could walk . . . she just couldn't breathe enough to get the oxygen she needed to do so (due to her respiratory issues). She tried hard, and we had a walker for her . . . but to enjoy the outings she and I loved together, we needed a chair . . . but we had to buy one ourselves (I'm in NZ . . . socialised health system and generally no insurance, but they wouldn't cover a wheelchair). It was awesome because suddenly we could enjoy shopping trips and trips to craft shows again. She was very particular in who she would let see her in what she saw as a vulnerable state (e.g. she would only let me or my sister push her, and we had to give lots of physical and verbal affection) but in a way it bought me closer to her near the end of her life. It makes me mad when people think equipment to assist with mobility is limited to people who can't walk . . . it's also for people who can't breathe enough to walk . . . or who are in too much pain to walk . . . and sometimes, who have some anxiety/mental health issues meaning they need to use things like mobility parking so they have less distance to go to the get to the big scary store. Jaquie, I've recently started watching all your vlogs and love them - love seeing you in your role as a warrior, love seeing the support you get from your amazing husband (OMG I wish I had a Judd) and the help you get for your Hippo. I have minor physical illnesses, but my major illness are psychiatric . . . and omg the discrimination and stigma I face from that. But it gives me some joy that I very much need to see you fighting and succeeding and enjoying your life. (Still wish I had a Judd of my own. And I have far too many emotional support cats . . . hehehe crazy cat lady . . . but I can't take them out with me). Keep fighting, keep loving, keep enjoying your best life. And I totally hope that at every turn, you get the help and support you need.

I ran across your channel a few months ago. I was watching you take a breathing treatment. My husband has copd and does breathing treatments as well. I just wanted to say I've learned so much from watching your videos about dealing with chronic illnesses. Plus hippo is an added bonus. You have a good support network and great husband. Keep up all the good work your doing. I have started watching The raw life and the Frey life by watching your videos. Cheers to you for being a great example to those with chronic illnesses.

This channel is so great because she shows all of the high & lows of chronically severely ill! We could look good literally for a few mins & feel ok & just like a snap of the finger, things go sideways (not well) and when we have a little more energy one day & or push thru to do something fun/adventurous;) we definitely pay for it 10 fold and ppl who know chronically ill ppl or whom lives with one, needs to see these vlogs bc sometimes they just don’t get it even if they are living with someone with these battles (multiple illnesses) so thank you J! And please forgive that I’ve nicknamed you & hubby J&J as it helps me with my compromised memory etc. God Bless & I will be looking into this chair!

  • @spookay13
    @spookay13 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

i'm so glad to hear that the appt went so well!! i got my first custom chair a year ago and it's been a huge help, it's just so freeing to be able to get around easier and faster. and i also have EDS and a lightweight tilite frame + smart drive and it surprisingly doesn't bother my shoulders at all, so i hope you're able to get the wheels and frame you want!! the only thing i'd recommend to go along with it is a pair of gloves because pushing the handrims can irritate your hands. my personal favs are fingerless faux leather ones but any kind will work! :) super happy for you ❤️✨

I've actually had my Quickie for just under a year now, and it's my life. Previously I never left the house, between spinal osteoporosis and nerve damage it caused, Addison's, muscle atrophy and chronic anemia. I missed so much time with my family and my 5-year-old daughter. Now I can get out a lot more, my kid is super happy I can do stuff with her, and it's not as depressing considering I'm not confined to the house. Hopefully having a wheelchair is as wonderful for you, too!

Haha i had to laugh when Judd said your power wheels were James Bond stuff!! I'm in the same process right now with the wheelchair, I really hope the appointment goes well. I live in the Netherlands and the process is a bit different here because the state has to decide whether you get the wheelchair because they have to pay for it. And as I think you know these tools are expensive! So i really hope they give me that permission. It's funny to hear most of the wheelchair features you mentioned are the same as my physical therapist did. Loved the vlog!!

So great about the wheelchair! My experience with the evaluation was really nice too and I have a TiLite ZRA! :) I love it. It's so easy to self-propel and I figured out how to assemble and disassemble it from the driver's seat so I don't have to stand or stand in the heat to do that. I could really use power assist sometimes but it wasn't covered. It would really help me and allow me more independence. :( I hope you're able to get everything you need and that insurance doesn't give you a hard time at all.

I got my new wheelchair yesterday. It was so scary to be out of control. My husband is having to raise the handle for he has to bend his back to push me. We shopped and got some walnut dowel and are going to cut the tube of the handle and extend it a few inches higher. Make sure your hubby can push the chair if the battery is dead.

Carlen if your asking me, mine is manual. We just purchased a Drive III from Amazon Prime. It was only

Yeah that one is not meant to be self propelled, although it was fine for me indoors on solid flooring. It's way too heavy... I couldn't get over a single curb. It's not bad for very part time use though.

Sammi Zelitt are they too heavy for you? Mine are 13 lbs each wheel. They told me the extra weight won't matter when propelling due to the power assist, but I'm worried about assembling it myself. I'm calling them to talk about this but would love your input if you don't mind (:

Chronically Jaquie I don't have my chair yet, (i just tried one out) but they said that they are 13 lbs each too. they told me that putting the wheels on and off is very easy, and I saw. you just press a button on them and it pops on. I'm worried about it too, but i'm sure i will figure out a way to do it! hopefully if you get a light base for the chair the wheels will be most of the weight

Jaquie I noticed when you were showing your mom's bowl on your coffee table at 8:06 there seems to be something moving behind the bowl. I don't know if this is a trick of the light or if there is actually something there. Freaked me a little lol. Check it out. I'm so glad your evaluation went so well. I hope your insurance pays for it and you get it soon. Love your rug.

The progress you have made through finding treatment plans that work well for you is astounding, and something that amazes me even more is that throughout the entire process, you have always radiated positivity. I am so glad to see that you are making such leaps and bounds towards your independence, and I only hope that this upward trend continues!! I do have one question though, if you don't mind me asking - At one point you'd mentioned in one of your videos that you had a (curable) compressed artery that might actually be the cause of your Gastroparesis. Is that something that now things are improving with your health, that you will be pursuing in the future?

sweet!!! i'm sooo happy for you!!! it was a big deal when my stepdad finally got his rascal since it wasn't covered by insurance and it was a game changer for our family. and that one wasn't even custom either, so this is really bad ass!! plus purple and pink, hell yeah! i'm really happy for you.
btw... I have treatment resistant ibs but I've got really good results with taking b.infantis probiotics and acupuncture, especially acupuncture! I didn't know if your doctors had an opinion about that but my digestive system is working sooo much better now and I've been able to eat every day for almost a month when I would have at least 3 days a week of struggling to eat. I have an old low back injury that ties into the slow movement in my colon, so I go in for acupuncture now just once a week (before it was 3-4 days for the course of the first month) and i'm able to eat with only functioning type symptoms =) (think burping etc). of course, you do what is best for you and i'm super stoked for you to get an awesome wheelchair! have you been thinking about any stickers you want to have on it or ways you'd like to pimp your ride (maybe a Bluetooth speaker or LEDs? ;) I got that idea from the night riders bicycle club in my city)? if you could have any type of back pack for your chair, what would you get/make? anyway, congrats! stay awesome on living life as full as possible

Sorry, not Jacquie, but I've been using Tilite's bag that hooks under the wheelchair for a bit and... I don't care for it. It does hold a lot of stuff, so that's good. My ROHO cushion pump fits perfectly inside. It's good if you just wanna bring a few small things. It keeps your stuff out of the way and inaccessible to pick pocketing. But it's difficult to reach and I dislike bending over every time I need something. If you keep your wallet in a front pocket of a backpack it could get stolen... but the main pocket is too deep to access easily. I dunno! Depends on the weather too... If I need to carry a sweater and/or umbrella then backpack it is.

I hope it is all you desire. If the insurance falls in line now all will be well and you can have the independance you so richly deserve. Have a great day.

The new rug is nice but when you get you custom wheelchair and when you are using it in the living room if you go over the rug then it will make a lump because it will get rolled up on the corners and it could be a hazard for you and with the walker to be care full.

I'm glad that you are hopefully getting what you need and I hope that the insurance will cover it. As it is going to take a few months will it be Christmas before you get it because that would be such a great Christmas gift having your independence in a way that you haven't had in a long time.
