Thanks so much can for thanking of me you do such good work on your Prime I have learned so much from watching your video your the reason I'm working on my on bike I sent you a picture on Instagram God bless
As a vintage motorcycle mechanic, i do this everytime i separate cases.. Works awesome, on a 2T you can also sand your cylinder head, so its smooth and doesnt leak..
Small tip to mark the surfaces with black or red ink/marker so you can trace when it’s absolutely flat. Figure 8 motion is the correct way of lapping surfaces. And before you even start it would be a good idea to check flatness of the glass with a flatness ruler gauge and a filler gauge because the glass tends to curve when it’s thin and you load it by pushing the item of work on it. So thick glass is better or multiple glasses and measure it first. Good job all and all
You can use polishing compound on your glass instead of sandpaper, you can change the grit a lot easier than with the sandpaper. We were using this method on scooters and snowmobiles back in the 70s. Great video, good wrenching
Top tip for using spray glue: cover your arms completely. If you have any amount of hair on your arms and if there is any (skin) exposed when you spray, the glue will stick to your arm hair and will be a sticky mess until it dries. Really annoying feeling.
I love your attention to detail. Waiting for your next video. How about taking a busted up 125/150cc scooter and rebuilding it up to your standards? You'd open up your channel to a whole new audience 😁
A tip is to show all the tools and things you are going to use in the start of the video, alot of people might wanna try and its good to show instantly what to have/use.
good afternoon here in Spain Guadalajara cameron you are doing a great job completely restoring the suzuki rm 250 greetings from Alberto and much encouragement so you can take your project to the end
Cameron..your vids are epic man. I'd love to show pics of the 2001 cr250r that I'm just finishing redoing. I used your vids for every step and it's turning out amazing
Hello Cameron, always following you, very good tips, I am currently restoring a YAMAHA WR 400 F, Any page or place where I can get the engine manual? Greetings and thanks for such good videos.
Sad it before, but this guy is ridiculously meticulous. All his work is top notch. I'm surprised he hasn't built a vapor blasting cabinet. Power Seal are great guys and do amazing work, no clue how they do some of the repairs, but they can fix about anything.
Cameron!!! You are awesome and fantastic!! I never see so a perfect clean Work!!! Respect!! Greets from Bavaria to All of Yours!! ( Martin..the Hondafan)
call me a hack, but I've been doing this for years with just a 1/4 sheet palm sander... just do it lightly and with common sense. I do intakes/exhaust/head, engine block.... side covers, whatever I feel can used a cleaning. Never an issue, car, motorcycle, jetski, atv parts
Hey cam any advice on what to do with a case that has a low spot about 3/4 inch along the mating surface that leaves a .025 - .003 thousandth of an inch gap below the crank housing ?
Got to wonder would it be a good idea to have your plate fly cut, and or surface ground, when I use to machine cold roll steel, it would usually have a crown and edges would have slightly raised edges, I was lucky enough to sneak my cases in and use their lapping table with clover compound, but the glass idea is nice, manuals tell you to check shafts from trans on glass, never thought it would be good poor man's lapping table, or mobile, wonder if a small coffee table glass is good enough.
Just a heads up from my experience, NEVER USE US CHROME FOR A CYLINDER REPLATE!! I sent mine off to them and slapped my engine back together (yz125) within the first hour after break in the ring caught the exhaust port due to welding slag on the cylinder. Needless to say, I now have to do a complete engine rebuild thanks to them. Not impressed!
Good advice, bad technique... Love your videos man and normally dont comment, but theres a few things that make me cringe as a machinist. Glass is actually not flat as it appears and sandpaper is waay too agressive. Just use a quality norton combination stone ($20) to lap the edges. It has a course side for the novice boogers and a fine side for a nice finish... Also use the locating pins while resurfacing the base gasket... Thats all. Thanks for the great content and useful tips
@@joshbassett7939 sounds good. I would think that glass is more than flat enough. I rebuilt my CRF450X and was very surprised on how hard the paper gaskets were to remove. I started off easy and ended up using several razor blades. I cleaned up the surfaces with green scotchbrite and the engine seems to have sealed up propertly.
Come on Cam, lets get this thing built ! We’ve been waiting on the videos. Hope you’re feeling good brother!
Jim McDonald honestly, Rocky Mountain atv will probably donate quite a bit of parts.

Everything you do turns out remarkably well! I'm looking forward to you tearing into the SF forks.
Man you're not doing bike you're doing work of art. Thank You for all the tips you include in your videos. 👍
Very good trick. I Sharpie my gasket surface to see where the high low spots are and I actually use 80 grit sandpaper.
Good video

from 5:04 using the steel plate, clamp those parts to the table to keep the piece from rocking.
just my observation. awesome job keeping it Pryme.
Its turning out to be amazing!! Someone is going to be grateful to have this after you going thru this bike!!!!!!! Keep it prime Cameron!!!
Have you been keeping ok dude. Haven’t seen you on here much. Looking forward to the rest of the build , take care man
I love your attention to detail. Waiting for your next video.

They have long sanding blocks out there used for body work. Rather than using adhesive and a steal plate. Keep up the great work!!
A tip is to show all the tools and things you are going to use in the start of the video, alot of people might wanna try and its good to show instantly what to have/use.
Cameron, nice job the only thing i remak is that you must used the dial pins on the crankcases to line it up perfect, saludos de argentina 🇦🇷
Thanks! Yep spaced on that one

You doing a perfect job..👍👍
Gostei muito amigo do seu trabalho parabéns top show
looks sweet!
Ooomg! That looks so nice
Crazy stupid idea!!! Great video!!!
Another great video,,, from Belfast northern Ireland
Thank you! Great tips and tricks 👍
Ooooh! Shiny!
Good technique!
Great job!
is it okay to vapor blast inside the cylinder bore itself? or does it need to be blocked off somehow
Never, ever in the cylinder bore!
Not a good idea to use abrasive in the bore
Glass is not nearly flat enough. you need a granite master flat plate to do anything worth while.
Plenty flat enough for an aluminium engine case
Love your videos man, keep doing you!

Technically the better tool for this would be a large stone
Wow, I thought you'd gone missing lol
Looking prime!!
Yesss new video!!!
everything it so interesting
2001... I have 1986, which im going to rebuild))

Btw, I just want to clarify that im not one of the A-holes that put a thumbs down on this lol

Mine is from the 70's
No need for glass
I've used marber and it worked just fine
You should use infinity pattren and use water
