    Most of the museums in The Sims is genuinely so pretty outside sometimes but other than that, mfs were made with nothing but depression and black coffee at 5am in the morning.

      It's really a shame. Although, I suspect the sims didn't want to get involved in the debate of "taking treasure from another country and displaying it in your own". Although sims are essentially grave robbing already, so maybe they didn't really think it through that deeply

      @@WaterAce168 What annoys me is it would be cool if it was a feature n the game where you could decide what to do with it. You can decide to send this artifact to OG sim country, keep it for private collection, sell it to private collection or build a museum in whatever town you're from

Too much for the sims

    • @AlexaFaie
      @AlexaFaie ปีที่แล้ว +10

      We don't have an archaeology game pack. We have an antiquarian game pack. Where you go to a hustling bustling foreign country and steal the artefacts from the native population who are the ones telling you about the history of the place anyway. They're there sharing their culture and you swan in, steal their stuff and bugger off back home to put them in your display cabinet. All whilst just on holiday. There's no classes you have to attend to learn to be an archaeologist (IRL you have to attend university like I did), there are no digs you have to pay to attend to get enough experience to even get a job in the first place. There's no excavating before building construction goes ahead. No carefully recording the contexts of the layers which tell you all the important information (an object removed from its context might be pretty, but you can't learn as much from it as you can from observing it where it was in situ). Nothing like that. Its just grave robbing simulator. Its like they just wanted to make a Lara Croft pack honestly. I was actually excited to have archaeology in the game thinking it would be a fun career to play (especially since my disabilities prevented me from actually pursuing it as a career IRL after I finished university). And I was so bitterly disappointed by the pack.

And/or an optional objective for a sim doing the villainy degree in college go there to gather information on how to perform a heist for a presentation board or something (though idk about it at the same time since the time/etc it takes just to do homework/etc is so long, but hence why optional. I really wish there was heirlooms. That would tickle my legacy nerve so much. Kind of like how in Sims 3 statues and nectar could age and become more valuable, but over generations.
    Objects could have sim ownership like the bed-sides do, and they get passed on when a Sim dies, or gifted to other Sims in life, and they become slightly more valuable (or less valuable, depending on the object) as time goes on.
    Would also be kind of cool if objects had a sort of family tree where it shows which sims it got passed on to. Like you could click on the grandfather clock and see how many Sims owned it, or if any famous Sims used to own it. That would be SO cool. There could be objects owned by famous Sims that you could put in a museum lol You could either learn some really cool lore that way, or create your own cool lore in your own worlds that way.
    And with an object ownership/heirloom system, that could make divorces way more interesting too. Sims can take what they own with them, or leave everything, or try and take everything from the other sim lol

    I’ve always wanted something like an entry fee for the musuem, when you’re there you can like learn skills and look at art to gain an “insightful” skill (new trait Insightful)
    This would make you better at understanding other sims OR make you better at the creative arts
    So maybe Insightful for Sims and insightful for arts 2 traits 2 skills
    So it’s worth going to the musuem because there you can learn the insightful skill quicker
    We’d had toures as well for like 2 hour sim tour which limits it to 5 to 10 items

    • @DoveJS
      @DoveJS ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I'd rather keep the museum free by default but have a pack that includes an item that charges you to enter any venue that you want (lol similar to Sims 3 I think.) Then they could include a few themed builds for your game's library which come with relevant lot traits already applied and you could easily add the venue item to it if you own that pack (maybe a kit or a Stuff Pack since it's a game play mechanic.) And of course Simmers would build their own but if you don't have the pack that item isn't there.
      Insightful trait IDK it sounds promising but might need more hammering out. I prefer keeping it one trait anyway; we have too many lackluster traits as is especially with the current core personality trait limitations. UNLESS it was a trait from your starting Aspiration; then the divergence would make more sense and add more to do so I like that better. :)

  • @beepboop9628

    I absolutely adore art and think it would be such a cool feature for the Sims team to get permission from actual artists to include updates to the museums/art galleries where they hold events where real exhibits are featured like Van Goghs recent sunflower exhibit, other modern artists or even held contests where actual summers can have their real art featured in the museums and it provides in-game mood/skill boosts (if this is an actual thing already I’m sorry I haven’t played Sims 4 in ages) I understand some art is controversial and often has dark undertones which may not be suitable for The Sims but it would be cool to have ‘simmed’Versions like Bella Goth in the Birth of Venus or A cow plant version of the panel from the Sistine chapel (Adam,Eve, and the serpent)
    The Dali Museum in Tampa FL has a whole outdoors section with cool fixtures that are great photo opportunities that could be similarly implemented in the sims museums that help with the influencer careers, even if it’s just wacky generic landscape with interesting modern fixtures to pose in front of. The buildings themselves could even be an artistic statement with how versatile the building options in the Sims 4 are. Lots of opportunities here.

    Part of the problem is that the base game museums aren't museums, they are art galleries! I did a bit of a drastic rebuild of the Oasis Springs one to make it in to a science museum (well, a museum of science and industry technically as there wasn't enough objects to make exhibits out of in the base game) and once I have a few expansions I might try to revamp the Willow Creek one in to being more of an art/events space.
    A big problem for me with community venues is that I hate having to leave sims in the home lot because of how much the remote control options are. The 'tend to needs' choice does weird stuff, like having them play chess instead of going to sleep!

    I work in a historic house, and I love building them in the sims. We could have the opportunity to make our own with their own histories, like the Von Haunt Estate in Windenburg - that would be really cool. In a museum or historic house, perhaps if you were high enough in a skill - be it painting or archaeology or logic, or anything really - you could give talks/tours in museums to other sims. It could work a bit like mentoring… there is soo much potential to expand the heritage/arts world in the sims!!

    World Adventures for Sims 3 was my absolute favorite Sims thing ever. It fulfilled all my inner Indiana Jones fantasies. And inevitably, after traveling a lot, I would come home and set up a museum lot and put all my collectibles in there. I'd also use debug items and build/buy items to set up little diorama-type rooms to go along with all the displays full of bowls and pots.
    I never went there for game play, really, I just enjoyed building it and filling it up with my stuff.

    Wouldn’t it be cool if you could turn your home into a museum? Like a legacy challenge family gen 10 could make the OG house into a museum and include important objects through the generations? Then as in the Get Together museum thing, put little things up where people can read about your legacy.

    I think what the sims team could have done is to give items a certain value that the game would make it recognise them as a museum items when put in a museum lot, and the game would send information about the item through the notifications. Or the ability to shift click items and get options to give them a description or a custom title so you could write your own lore

    I work at a museum and I'd love to have better museums in the Sims! A huge part of museums in general is finding ways to get people to come and stay, so having activities on the lot would be very in-line with actual museums. Also, if there were ever some kind of museums related pack, special exhibits! Give me a rotation of temporary exhibits with unique collectables! Our museums have a tiny budget and we still manage to have cool freebies for every exhibit. The lot requirements really could use an update as well; they lean more into the "art museum" world than the "science," "history," or "natural history" spheres. 10 wall decor? Most of our wall decor is descriptions of the artifacts.

    If the Sims wanted to design an expansion pack specifically for me, I'd like a kind of city break pack with multiple different subtypes of actually useful museums/attractions. Like not only a history museum, although absolutely yes a better history museum, but also a science museum with interactive experiments that boost your sims thinking/logic skills, an art gallery where your sims masterpieces could be displayed and they could take art classes, and a historical site/open air museum where the sims can walk through houses and interact with objects and talk to historical reenactment people (IMO the latter would suit sims history well. Let my sims 4 sims walk through the newbie's house and talk to Eliza Pancakes dressed as Betty). Little giftshops that the kids (and nerdy adults) desperately want to spend all their allowance at. Ways of incorporating your own invented history into the museums, especially for legacy players.

    Other things that that could be good for Museums:
    💬 Guest Lectures - Both as calender/inviteable events, and as the lecturer via microphones/podiums.
    You could get calls about giving lectures, have a lecture event/party type, or just have the option on objects once you hit requirements.(I think Archaeologists have the last opton). Go listen to/give speech on a subject. Audience learns appropriate skill and can meets a sim who can mentor them in it, lecturer earns Charisma skill, cash and fame.
    🏆 Art/Sculpture/Rare find Contests - Similar idea to the Finchwick Fair, but with art/crafts and collectibles like gems and fossils.
    Get a prize for the most impressive entry. Must be found/made by submitting sim and can't submit same thing twice. Museum will ask if they can display the winner and it gets placed on the appropriate surface if you agree, earning you an amount of cash proportional to what you would make selling it.
    🤩 Fame Provenance - Items owned by famous sims, or that came from long standing but bulldozed lots should have unique provenance from items simply purchased from the catalogue.
    When a famous sim dies (after the mourning period) family/friends could be asked for items from that sim as museum donations, allowing you to submit items and add a description. These items could then appear on appropriate surfaces with info about who owned it when clicking and choosing "Read History" etc. (Items could be on loan for a weekly stipend like royalties, or sold outright to museum for a lump sum. Price would depend on fame of previous owner or longevity of previous lot).
    With buildings, if they have stood for a set number of generations (say 2-3) you would get a pop up when trying to bulldoze asking if you would like to send any items to the Museum with provenance, prompting a way to pick items and write descriptions. Community lot items would be a donation, but owned lot items could be loaned or sold to the museum, as above.
    🔳 Display Cases - More pedestals and display cases that have the option to write a description.
    We got one of these with Jungle Adventure, but I'd love a set of basic ones in various styles for base game. They could be half-tile square, tileable/resizable and have adjustable height/width like columns. They could hold any size item, even if it overlaps the edge, and would automatically add extra/get taller to fit the size and shape of the displayed item.

    personally I would also like if museums actually had like. types of museums?? even the one that came with jungle adventure is essentially just an art museum! you HAVE to have artwork as your main exhibit no matter what kind of museum you're building! I would love natural history and science museums that aren't just "sims will look at art and not really touch anything else unless you make clubs"! I want sims to be interested in looking at rocks and fossils they'll otherwise ignore bc they aren't art on a wall or a statue! I want children's museums with little interactive stations child and maybe even toddler sims can use and learn things from!! I WANT DINOSAUR KID REPRESENTATION, LET ME HAVE DISPLAYS SPECIFICALLY FOR FOSSILS AND MAYBE SOME COMPLETE SKELETONS AS STATUES WE CAN PLACE IN THE MUSEUM!!

  • @acebildz1253
    @acebildz1253 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hard agree on museums! When my artist Sims create masterpieces, I build a one tile room with just one wall, and save to my library. That Sim can still sell the painting on plopsy or from the easel (it can be returned to the easel). But now I have a copy in my library, so I can go to a museum lot, and place it on the wall. I have a whole wing of a museum filled with masterpieces painted by various Sims of mine. It really personalizes the space, and makes it more fun to visit. My goal is to collect one of each painting in the game, then start making a "paint from reference" gallery for each of the worlds. Btw, you look fabulous today and I want to steal your shirt! Thanks for your presentation, Jesse.

    It's not even like any sim made the art in the museums, they're just junk lots. My ideal would be a shop and museum based around collectable items and sim created art. There still isn't a reason for a creative space lot. So I just turn my museums into arcades so they have some reason to go "view 3 pieces of art at a museum"

  • @ChrisDragon531
    @ChrisDragon531 ปีที่แล้ว

    I like making my own museum in the game. I call it the Collectables Museum. The first time I had this Idea I had a Sim go around the worlds to try to collect everything to put into the museum.
    But then I got frustrated and impatient and just cheated the rest >_>
    Anyways, So I have been putting my build in my Willow Creek Neighborhood to replace the not-museum that's there.
    Although it does need to be updated right now, but I haven't been playing much of TS4 lately, so I haven't gotten to it. (I'm on a Modded Minecraft Kick right now).

    I WISH there was a way to somehow have classes at museums or art centers!! Maybe they could be events you can add to the calendar (like festivals?), maybe they could be events sims can plan and somehow market to townies, or maybe they could have them as part of a career? There could be specific activities or goals, maybe skills grow faster when you take them? Or maybe there's specific paintings or items you can make?
    IDK I feel like a lot of the community lots lack depth. Where's the shit to do!? Why is this important!? What makes THIS spot unique!?

    well, sims 4 museums suck, but I like to pretend they don't...the sims 4 is all aout pretending, isn't it...
    recently I renovated Willow Creek museum (I made it science themed and placed there some stuff that my sims won't have at home, like rocket ships, and microscopes, and chemical tables, all of these are too big to keep them in my families' living rooms)
    my sim was an archaeologist (self-registered, of course, because we don't have this career in jungle adventure pack) I also created the «co-workers» club, so they would all gather at the museum to work or do research or something
    it was fun gameplay, but I'm so tired of having to do all of this myself because instead of enjoying and creating storyline and actually playing the game I have to spend time micromanaging anything and everything

    We should be able to donate elements to the museum as a nod to **cough** other genres. Also; museums should have exclusive collectables like those coin press machines; reclusive exhibit items like dinosaur skeletons, fossils, Egyptian stuff, alien memorabilia, more stuff from Selvidarada's history, and old vehicles(just to rub salt in the wound); and finally the audio guides could be used to give the player little lore pop-ups if they select it.
