You can look at someone and think they are the most perfect person ever but in their head they can think the complete opposite because that’s how depression works (a lot of the time) I don’t know about anyone else but I suffer with depression and I make so many jokes about it because it’s so hard, it’s really hard and that’s my way of coping because if I mope about it’s going to take over me and I’m going to think more about it and it gets worse and I don’t know how to handle it, I think billie is kind of similar (obviously I can’t say because she’s her own person) but I make jokes about it to keep people away so that they don’t try and help so that they think I’m fine because if they try to help it makes it more real and... depressing so I honestly think that everything billie is saying about how she hates herself, even though it’s in a joking manner, I do think she’s being honest

Adding on to what you were saying, today, one of my classmates was saying how I'm such an optimist, and I'm always saying stuff like "You can do it!", and I'm so cheerful. I'm depressed, so I may seem like I'm happy, but that's because I try to be postive and nice to other people. I promise you, I am not an optomist, and I don't always think happy thoughts.

I don’t typically comment on videos, but this one has got me just a little heated. One, you can think someone is perfect and beautiful and talented, but they can be so broken up inside about themselves, that they truly hate themselves. Two, You never know what’s going on in someone’s head, and Billie makes that very clear in all of her interviews. Depression is one hell of a thing. You just hate yourself. You hate people. You hate living. It’s fucked tbh. But underestimating her feelings because you see her a certain way, is bullshit frankly. And completely dismissing her feelings by saying she’s “full of it” is disrespectful. No shade or whatever, it was a good vid, and I like the boys perspective on her, but not the mom. I feel she’s not understanding the magnitude of her words and her songs, which is fine, but don’t say things that you can’t take back.

I think it's sad how people would say that people are "fake depressed". Billie expresses her feelings so well in her songs that it is literally no way that a person with no depression can explain it as good.
You should never say to anyone they have fake depression or there just doing it for attention. Going through depression myself billie has really helped me through it cause she is so relatable when she talks about her depression. And saying to somebody that’s fake and it’s an act is probably one of the most hurtful things to say.

Just because she seems to be okay with herself, doesn't mean she likes herself. I fucking hate myself all the time... but I seem like I love myself. I'm not gonna walk around moping about how much I hate myself. I just do. I focus on the people around me more than myself. They're good and wonderful people so I mean I can be okay with me because they are. People love me more than I hate me. So it balances itself out. I also believe that if someone keeps saying something over and over without cause, then it's undeniably the truth. She's said multiple times that she doesn't like herself, or that she hates herself. She also said that she doesn't even know why. So for people to say that she's full of it because to them; clearly she loves herself... like what the fuck is that? She isn't putting on a show for everyone. Even people with depression and anxiety can have their "Good days" (I hate that term)

I really dislike your mothers opinion. I have depression, anxiety and an eating disorder, and I HATE myself like Billie. If I ever heard someone say that I'm being full of myself for voicing my depression and getting it off my chest, I would shut down. When you bottle the emotions up like that, the glass breaks and so do you. I hate how your mom doesn't seem to think of depression as an actual illness. It's a chemical imbalance of the brain. Anti-depressants are difficult. I'm currently on one but it makes it hard to sleep (which is why I'm currently up at 3:14 a.m.). I think this is a learning experience for your mom to get educated on depression. I'd be fine with her opinions if she has done the necessary research on what she is talking about (mental illness) and makes intelligent, insightful statements. The world is not pretty. School shootings. Rapists. Murders. Suicides. Anxiety. Depression. If these aren't brought to attention like Billie is doing, then how do we help the problem. By the way, I wrote help instead of fix, because no one can fix the "problems" but the one having them. Sorry to take this deeper than your mom reacting to a song, but I really think you need to help her get more insightful on mental disorders and how important it is for people like me to listen and watch music like Billie's music and relate to it. Billie is relatable because 99% of modern pop music today is happy go lucky, or someone's shallow attempt at a deep song. Billie's lyrics are deep and RELATABLE to those who needs someone to speak our thoughts and put the turmoil of our minds into the artful imagery that she does in her music videos (I.e., idontwannabeyouanymore, lovely, when the party's over, etc) no hate to your mom, I just want her to know what she said can be extremely hurtful to people like me and Billie.
I know everyone's commenting this but I dont think Billie is full of it and i think she truly didn't like herself I think shes happy because she is in front of a camera and she has to be almost because if shes not she will get judged for being sad and always depressed saying that in our society people such as celebrities are not allowed to be sad because they are wealthy or famous and have a lot of support or a large fanbase and I dont agree with that money doesnt buy you happiness material things don't buy you happiness you have to genuinely be happy and love yourself and that takes time mental health is a serious thing and this is the problem with today's society people dont understand the heavy impact the way you see yourself and societies standards and stereotypes can really fuck you up on top of things people go through in there life monumental moments where they can end up lost or feel helpless essentially causing them to feel that way and invalidating their feelings also makes them feel like they are irrelevant and that isnt fair being honestly happy is a luxury and privilege and it take a while to reach because only you can change the way you see yourself and if that doesnt happen your back ar square one and sometimes you just need people to listen and not make you feel liem being sad is wrong because no matter what you can always be sad and people can exprience sadness its inevitable its different magnitudes and time periods of this sadness which is the downside to kids being in the industry because they get degraded by grown people and quite frankly it's disgusting but yhea just wanted to say that a d a lot of people are coming for the mom but if you dont exprience or learn about something how can you possibly know what it is like a rich man can never know how to be poor if hes always been wealthy but he can become poor meaning a happy person may know nothing about how it is to be depressed but they can become depressed jn which they have learned and exprienced so they are educated about it and this is why Billie strikes a cord with so many young people even older people because shes expressing feelings people felt like they were never allowed to Express or feel and shes validating them letting them know ots okay to be sad it's okay not to love yourself as long as you're working towards it and trying that's all that matters I dont wanna be you anymore hot me because that is how I feel and it's nice to know somone can put how I feel along with many others into words her lyrics speak volumes but yhea I wanted to say that if u read down here please like and comment back If you'd like
