I liked that, but in retrospect, it feels like a bit of a drawback. It wasn't until season 4 that Earth is significant, and since WC focuses on Bloom and her social circle, parents aren't featured much, making Mike and Vanessa feel underrated twice over, despite being important for Bloom's character.
To be honest, I always liked that aspect since it added a layer of realism. Lord knows I wouldn't tell anyone if I were a magical girl saving the world. Have u seen the world ??? I'm not about to trust them with something so important. Hell, nah 😭
Winx has isekai elements because Bloom lives in normal world but she transfer to Magix universe. Not every Mahou Shojo has "double life" trop, for example, Magic Knight Rayearth is mahou shojo and isekai.
@soulrio to be honest, I wish they'd let Bloom struggle adapting to the magical universe, as an imagrant who moved countries very young (4) , there are a few things I still don't get. Imagine moving to an entirely different planet where all your normalities are considered ancient. The fact that Bloom was comfortable enough to split up from the girls to go after Nut is a tad strange to me considering if I were there ide cling to the rest of the winx for the first few magix city trips. Like, I dont know shit about this world . Not only do I have to learn about the geography of a new planet, but I gotta learn to navigate it. Most people can barely remember the geography of their OWN country
@@soulrio True. But you have to admit it's significantly rarer to find the double-life and masquerade tropes NOT being used in MG anime and the only ones i can think of are animes from the 70's and 80's,but the MGs in those shows weren't fighters and used their magic in everyday scenarios.
The actual genius of Winx Club aesthetic is the mix of aesthetics being a blend of Art Nouveau with soft pastels for the fantasy aspect with all that organic feel (and some obvious Italian inspired imagery) and Y2K sci-fi aesthetic for the futuristic aspect of magix for example and it's so well mixed and intertwined that makes the show's art and aesthetic extremely unique and pretty they definitely knew what they were doing
Yes! Such a good comment, I always loved and couldn’t articulate how interestingly it manifested in the different groups of characters. I’d hope for them to not touch what’s drawn from old Euro folklore and the very bright tech (bring back the capes and return Timmy’s guns, too)
I never thought of Winx's magic-sci/fi blend being change of the millennium optimism. It makes sense but it's depressing knowing how the millennium unfolded for now. I do agree that this is one of the strongest points of the show, even more so because it makes you feel like it's how it SHOULD be, it feels so normal until someone points out that it's such a rare concept.
I talk with my roommate a lot about Winx Club (she grew up watching it, I got into it as an adult) and yeah, this is all pretty spot on. A lot of why I ended up liking it was the surprisingly mature writing for the first three seasons as well as the unique approach it took to magic and science fiction. My roommate and I actually did a cosplay duo for Winx this year for a convention. She was Flora and I was Tecna. We did their Enchantix forms. Made the whole thing ourselves, wings and all and got tons of compliments on them and even made it into a cosplay music video. It all fell apart after like two hours of wearing them, but it was the first time my roommate had built a set of wings and it was my first cosplay build in general so I’m honestly surprised they lasted that long and we both have an idea of how to make the wings more stable if we ever revisit this. The con itself was kind of a disaster though. In true Flora fashion, my roommate got almost taken out by several passersby who weren’t paying attention to where they were going and didn’t see Flora’s giant fucking butterfly wings somehow (my own spatial awareness is the only thing that saved me from the same fate) and then she started losing her eyesight because the contacts she used were her boyfriend’s and they somehow ended up scratching her corneas which ended up in like two trips to the ER for her while I tried to keep her best friend from having a panic attack by taking her shopping for birthday gifts for my roommate in the artist’s alley before it closed. Good times. My roommate’s eyes recovered just fine and we all made it out of con alive and without any instances of con plague, but hoo boy, it was scary for a bit. Remember to properly care for your contacts and make sure they fit your eyes properly, kids. Or just do what I did and edit your eye color to match the character’s in your photos if you’re really that concerned about accuracy.
OMG that is the most heart touching comment I ever read I would love to see your cosplay video. I’m also a Flora fan and I would love to cosplay in her Enchantix form one day...I’m sorry your Bestie almost lost her eyesight that’s why I’m super conscious about contacts, I never worn them before but I think it’s best to go to optometrist instead of going to a beauty parlour to get cheap contacts. I glad she’s better now 🙂
Straffi expressed indirectly in an interview that he wasn't fond of Brian Young's direction in Fate, so we probably won't see any of that floppery in S9 fortunately
The cartoon showed us that magic & technology, old & modern, space & fairytale land can exist in great harmony. Let us not forget that Tecna is probablly - if not the first - Fairy of Technology that we actually see. Blis!!! XOXOXO
I'm iffy about sci-fi sometimes, but the way WC managed to seamlessly weave it into the fantasy realm was great. The reboot has a lot to live up to. I'd love to see you discuss the Winx comics!
I feel like there absolutely lives a world where winx got a live action reimagining that leaned into bright futurism and Y2K vibes. We just don’t live in the best time line, clearly
FINALLY SOMEONE IS TALKING ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF FANTASY AND TECH IN WINX. haven’t watched yet but i’m happy this video exists because it is honestly the biggest problem when creating the FATE series as well as the newer seasons it seems like the creators forgot that what makes Winx so unique is that it lays in this beautiful cross-section of magic and mechanics. the specialists weren’t just knights in shining armor they were tech-savvy swordsmen using space travel to help magical fairies. that sentence alone is absurdly unique and it truly made Winx stand apart from all the other ‘magical girl’ shows around.
Growing up with this show, I never really noticed the way they blended magic and technology in a way different from everything else. I just assumed that it was a standard thing as a kid, unless if the setting was more of an ancient time. Maybe this is why I always have hints of magic technology when I write fantasy… I really need to rewatch the series
I don’t think that, the reboot of Winx Club will remove the technomagic from the world, because Tecna is present in the show, and I don’t think she’d be changed from a fairy of technology to something else.
I do think that the animated reboot will keep some of the techno aesthetic since techna has robotic elements in her design and also by the fact that she’s even still a character in the reboot
Winx Club's world building had so much more to offer if the later seasons just focused on the the Winx traveling to other worlds rathern than just staying at Alfea for eternity 😒
That's another thing I love about Winx Club! It's another thing the live action didn't have, and another reason it didn't capture the original magic. I'm nervous about the reboot and how it'll handle the world. Thanks for this video!!
Since fantasy anime has been big despite being recently, probably since 2019, I wished that someone made a fantasy anime where it uses a similar setting to Winx Club.
I would actually like more of videos like these since these topic aren't spoken about too often. Like the how fairies and witches are the same creatures but use opposite natured magic. And it's shown how a girl can swap between them if they have right mindset.
One of the coolest things about the early seasons of Winx was Magix itself because it occupied this weird sense of y2k era optimism and cheese with goddamn everything in it - the neo futurism, the fact that Alfea's education system is hilariously whack, the fact there's no stupid double life element bogging the world down...
I adore this concept so much that I hope to utilize it in my own fantasy series. Which also includes faeries, but leans closer to the old celtic irish versions.
Night; Alone; Sweet nightmares; So young yet sharp; They were so hungry; Yet I was the victim; In my dream children ate me; No one even came to save me; No one, not everyone, it's just me; Who was my hero in the end? No one
this mix of sci-fi and magic is what made me fall in love with winx club in the first place. I'm a person who has always preffered science fiction over fantasy, but I love magic. winx made me fall in love with it's style. Tecna is my favorite, the moment when I saw her fairy transformation for the first time was amazing. out of all of them she has a fullbody suit with a helmet and chunky boots. Her style is iconic. I became obsessed with her. I wanted to see even more of Zenith, because sci-fi in the world of magic is something to die for. I really want to see more shows take this approach. Magic mixed with tech and girly without it being a joke, oh and retro-futurism. You know, the 60's, 80', early 2000's vision of future. Perfection.
Well I am a part of a group that has members around the world it is called Winx Club Live action done correctly. The members include scripts writers, cgi, costume creators and others and everyone who think Winx Club deserve a better live action can join. But the catch is you have to take a little quiz to get your status. I’m an Lynphean wizard in the group
Blending magic and technology is not so unique in worldbuilding, with Final Fantasy as perhaps the most famous example of this, but I think that Winx's worldbuilding was original in using those elements as the setting of an story aimed at a younger and female audience. Not only for a girl watching it would look like something different from everything else, but for any kid it would look so as well. In my case I would only like to remark that it was kind of, not so good, that despite magic and technology being both present, sometimes it seemed to put this in a sexist separation between female magic-users and male physical heroes going to different academies, as if there was some law saying it should be so, or as if it was just accepted as the nature of things. I noticed later that that separation is not absolute, but it appeared to be dominant before.
And this is why I'm so mad that only winx magic transformation actually use the futuristic clothes Winx is one of the best universe that mix perfectly technology and magic
Winx club really was on a whole different level. ❤ multiple worlds,” and different styles of fashion. I loved it 😍 and then the people in charge couldn’t keep the storyline together even at the cost of their lives. Unnecessary changes, and Nabu’s death. They can bring everyone else back from the dead, but the black man has to die permanently!! And he and Aisha had the most beautiful and healthy relationship right next to flora and her man. I’ll never forgive them. Bloom looses Sky in a bunch of different ways and they are like girl cry on my shoulder, we’re here for you. Aisha looses her fiancé, and they’re like get over yourself Aisha we miss him too. I just can’t, and they gave Aisha two sub standard love interest later, only for it to go nowhere.
I OMG I missed you so much I thought you stopped making season 3 commentary videos. Interestingly enough, the Winx blend of futurism and sci fi and fantasy interesting... HOLD UP since the Winx had futuristic technology.... that means....HUH it was foreshadowing the creation of the world first ever smartphone- iPhone in 2007📱 OMG they were definitely way a head of their time 🕥🕥🕠🕟
First, forgive me for my English. I recently discovered your channel and totally fell in love with it 💜. I have watched the commentaries of winx season 5 and 6 and am ready to catch up with the rest ✨️. I'm Italian and I also congratulate you on your accept, it is really good 🙏🏻 Abbracci dall'Italia 🫶🏻
Adquistes (the round city they went in season 2 to buy supplies for the Wildlands) looks A LOT to the Senate district of Coruscant (from Star Wars saga) and now I can't unseen it.
I don't get how a space opera is different from a regular opera because I don't know what a space opera is. But I know what an opera is. I'm guessing that a space opera is very different from a regular opera. Also I do love what Winx club did to Magix, Stella's solar system, Zenith and Erakleon and Cosmix and season 8 for the sci-fi look. I am usually not a fan of sci-fi stuff but shows and movies like Winx club and Lilo and Sitich made me actually like the sci-fi concept and design a bit. I also love Alfea's design, the Winx's transformations and the Trix and Cloudtower and Solaria and Flora's hom I don't know how to spell the name of her home, the ocean and anraos and Domino and Melody and Gardenia I don't know how to spell name for Aisha's home for the fantasy concept. They did a great job for those parts they made it really cool.
Space opera is different from regular opera because it is not an opera at all. It's a term for a subgenre of scifi that takes place in space, and often involves space battles and melodrama. it comes from the terms "horse opera" and "soap opera", if you've heard of either of those?
I agree with you, I love diverse worlds. Wind Club has a vast amount of it and I love iiiiit! 😊 I'm also thinking of creating a story set 1000 years after this era with 4 different worlds that are all different but the world's inhabitants can move between the realms with certain methods, while still being vastly different to each other😊
Lovely as always! To be honest I think this is one of the best videos you've put out recently. I say this not because it was super grandiose or the best work you've done but because you explained such a complex core aspect of Winx so eloquently and concisely I actually found myself thinking of other examples than the ones provided (A regular occurrence with your videos and part of why I love them so much❤.) Let's be honest though they don't always hit it out of the park. On the good side of things I thought of when Techna became the owl's new computer (The owl is the Specialists' big ship btw)and Bloom's swordfight in Professor Avalon's class and how it shows not only do weapons still get forged by "normal" methods but that can actually still be stronger than the fancier magic counterparts and should be respected because of that. On the bad side of things I thought of the magic weapons from season 6 because I felt not only did it overlap with the girls' powers (and to add insult to injury this is especially true with Daphne the flagship "extra' character of the season.) But it takes away from the fact that the Specialists' whole deal was that they didn't need powers to hold their own against powerful magical enemies. (Also, I'm pretty sure it goes without saying especially because he's so popular, but just in case Nabu doesn't count as needing magic in my eyes as he was both a skilled magic user as fighter ) Secondly we have when Stella broke the clothes robot on Zenith because dumb Stella funny ha ha (I hope the people responsible can feel my SARCASUM from here ) I have to admit that Winx feels so timeless to me that I often forget it's for the early to mid 2000's and after watching this video i am morbidly curious to see what the show would be like if it was released in 2012 ( when Nick started airing the show ) just to see how they would handle the aesthetic. I know this isn't the most cohesive comment I've put together, but hopefully everything makes sense. I can't wait for your next upload and I hope everyone has an awesome day!😊
This is the first time I've watched your videos and I'm absolutely in love! I can just FEEL your passion and enthusiasm pouring out in every word you say. This was truly a delight to watch.💛🧡✨️ When i was younger, though i did watch Winx Club from time, i never fully got into it. I was too busy watching My Little Pony and any Barbie movie I could get my hands on especially because I didn't have the most privileged upbringing. I'm slowly starting to watch shows I never got to watch properly and it's safe to say your infectious enthusiasm towards Winx Club has definitely put it up high on my list! Keep make lovely videos. And Thank you!💛🧡💛🧡😊✨️
OKAY I DONT KNOW WHY I THOUGHT ABOUT THIS BUT IF U LIKE THIS SPACE OPERA THEME YOULL LOVE THE BOOK 'FOUR DEAD QUEENS' ITS NOT SET IN SPACE BUT ITS SET IN A CONTINENT DIVIDED INTO 4: 1 TECHY, 1 ART AND ENTERTAINMENT, 1 AGRICULTURE AND 1 TRADE. THE PROTAGONIST HAS TO FIND OUT WHO KILLED THE QUEENS AND THERES A SHOCKING TWIST AT THE END!!
To, you should really consinder making a video about the new W.i.t.c.h reboot comic. I am sure your fans would eat it up. And would love to hear your opinion about it.
Winx is technically science fantasy like Dragonriders of Pern, space opera is more like "flying to the cosmos and have adventures". Fantasy elements is equal to sci-fi elements, Winx universe have a non-technical nature planet like Linphea and only technical planet like Zenith. Technology in this universe is cool and well compared to magic.
A thing that i like if the show is that they had no qualms into show characters simple but very attractive, both character and looking, today most of productions must have "realism" and with that it means a lot of mental issues and alike, i mean, i don't want characters like that, i want characters with whom go along as friends!...
You know would be cool? If Winx Club took a page from various Shounen anime and have some sort of tournament arc in which the students of Alfea went head to head against students from other fairy schools. I'm surprised that has never happened, I mean there ARE more fairy schools out there. Plus schools that compete against other schools is thing that occurs in real life.
Hi, sorry I haven’t been back in a while, I honestly love the insight in your videos. I would also love to follow and support you on Patreon, so excited for your books😊 Also #LGBTQIA Content Fan😊 Seriously, we need more of it
I am frustrated that Cineribus still does not have a tvtropes page while _Shadow of the Conquerer_ (ugh) does. 5:09 "It's [science,] we don't have to explain it." jk
I’ve been waiting since May for a new episode, I can wait a few months more. I’m just sad because Thomas doesn’t seem to be that much into it anymore :(
just thought about but basically this 12:12 should've been sirenix this specific design should've been sirenix. but hey who cares about having intersting thing when you can just make money from an already mondially adored tv show " for kids "
Winx Club did a lot by doing little: removing the "double life" element of traditional magical girls fare.
Hell, nah 😭

Reboot*
With how cold Zenith is I am surprised that Tecna does have a spell to do with the cold/ice.
Yes the Y2K shows hit different Winx, Codelyoko Totally spies, Kim possible and OG Teen Titans like we were getting fed
The cartoon showed us that magic & technology, old & modern, space & fairytale land can exist in great harmony. Let us not forget that Tecna is probablly - if not the first - Fairy of Technology that we actually see. Blis!!! XOXOXO
I mean I’m obsessed with the 2000s idea of futurism, people really put in the work with this theme.
I'm iffy about sci-fi sometimes, but the way WC managed to seamlessly weave it into the fantasy realm was great. The reboot has a lot to live up to. I'd love to see you discuss the Winx comics!
I do love the sci-fi parts of Winx Club it makes the setting very refreshing and cool.
I recently made a TikTok about this to explain why I love Tecna's magic winx outfit! Most people on Winx tok hate it so I just had to explain.
I feel like there absolutely lives a world where winx got a live action reimagining that leaned into bright futurism and Y2K vibes.

I don’t think that, the reboot of Winx Club will remove the technomagic from the world, because Tecna is present in the show, and I don’t think she’d be changed from a fairy of technology to something else.
They could make her a "generic" Lightning Fairy...
But I also don't think they will remove it.
The proper term for that is AETHERPUNK. Yes, it's very nice. I'm creating a story based on that genre.
Y2k futurism is so elegant, clean, and has a great sense of coolness, i hope it comes back someday
I do think that the animated reboot will keep some of the techno aesthetic since techna has robotic elements in her design and also by the fact that she’s even still a character in the reboot
AAAHHH, WINX CLUB WAS LIKE, ONE OF MY CHILDHOOD FAVOURITE SHOWS!!!
I Watched it religiously.
Alongside Avatar the last Airbender.
gahhh the first few seasons are sooooo good like every world HITS
Winx Club's world building had so much more to offer if the later seasons just focused on the the Winx traveling to other worlds rathern than just staying at Alfea for eternity 😒
I love this idea so much imagine the winx getting a villain on a different world each season and we get to explore the worlds via the winx
Winx Club subliminally prepared me to like SAGA, an adult comic that blends sci-fi with fantasy
That's another thing I love about Winx Club! It's another thing the live action didn't have, and another reason it didn't capture the original magic. I'm nervous about the reboot and how it'll handle the world. Thanks for this video!!
Absolutely my favorite aspect of Winx Club when i first watched it, that s also why i loved Tecna most.
Since fantasy anime has been big despite being recently, probably since 2019, I wished that someone made a fantasy anime where it uses a similar setting to Winx Club.
That would be a masterpiece which I will thoroughly enjoy🤗
“The trash world of Eraklyon” I’m dead😂😂😂

Winx is underrated in so many ways
After watching this video, you know what Winx club reminds me of? Final Fantasy 13 because if it’s blend of magic and futurism, same as Winx club
Unrelated, Disney will officially turn 100 on October 16 of this year
As a kid i loved winx club so much! I'm rewatching the show and the world building is absolutely incredible!!
Winx Club world building was certainly unique.
I adore this concept so much that I hope to utilize it in my own fantasy series. Which also includes faeries, but leans closer to the old celtic irish versions.
I would 100% pay to read books like that😊
i NEED MORE OF THE SEASON 6 REWRITE 😢❤

Did anyone else hear about Winx Club Season 9 being reverted back to 23 min 26 episodes?
yes thank god
I just realized Winx is a lot like Jem and the holograms. They are iconic in their styles. To change it is to remove its identity.
The world building is just so good
And this is why I'm so mad that only winx magic transformation actually use the futuristic clothes
Winx is one of the best universe that mix perfectly technology and magic

Science Fantasy is my favorite setting for fictional worlds!
First, forgive me for my English. I recently discovered your channel and totally fell in love with it 💜. I have watched the commentaries of winx season 5 and 6 and am ready to catch up with the rest ✨️. I'm Italian and I also congratulate you on your accept, it is really good 🙏🏻
Abbracci dall'Italia 🫶🏻
I love how clowd tower is alive and how it looks
@@PrincessOfTheEnd I never heard of a horse operas but I heard of soap operas I used to watch some soap operas when I was younger.
Winx Club is much better than Harry Potter, specially when it comes to world building. There, I said it.
I can't believe what I'm about to say, but I think you're right
I agree with you, I love diverse worlds. Wind Club has a vast amount of it and I love iiiiit! 😊
I'm also thinking of creating a story set 1000 years after this era with 4 different worlds that are all different but the world's inhabitants can move between the realms with certain methods, while still being vastly different to each other😊
Nice new vid!
When trying to make my world(s) in my book, videos like this really do help. I do wish that more shows had this apsect of the blending
(Also, I'm pretty sure it goes without saying especially because he's so popular, but just in case Nabu doesn't count as needing magic in my eyes as he was both a skilled magic user as fighter ) Secondly we have when Stella broke the clothes robot on Zenith because dumb Stella funny ha ha (I hope the people responsible can feel my SARCASUM from here )
I have to admit that Winx feels so timeless to me that I often forget it's for the early to mid 2000's and after watching this video i am morbidly curious to see what the show would be like if it was released in 2012 ( when Nick started airing the show ) just to see how they would handle the aesthetic.
This was truly a delight to watch.💛🧡✨️
When i was younger, though i did watch Winx Club from time, i never fully got into it. And Thank you!💛🧡💛🧡😊✨️
The outro has now made me want to rewatch the 4kids dub again
2:30 please also Roxy 🐾
I feel like Edens Zero pretty good too, not as good as winx club but still good.
Oohh tales of arise!! Are you excited for the dlc on nov 9th??
Cool video i have a question can you do a review of The winx 2 first movies? (The Lost kingdom and Magical adventure)
Finally my winx sisters some good fucking food
hi can you please make a video about the upcoming winx live action
To, you should really consinder making a video about the new W.i.t.c.h reboot comic. I am sure your fans would eat it up. And would love to hear your opinion about it.
Winx is technically science fantasy like Dragonriders of Pern, space opera is more like "flying to the cosmos and have adventures". Fantasy elements is equal to sci-fi elements, Winx universe have a non-technical nature planet like Linphea and only technical planet like Zenith. Technology in this universe is cool and well compared to magic.
I love y2k futurism
You're my Comfort Nostalgia fixed
I would definitely be a specialist. I'm athletic and I love to fight
A thing that i like if the show is that they had no qualms into show characters simple but very attractive, both character and looking, today most of productions must have "realism" and with that it means a lot of mental issues and alike, i mean, i don't want characters like that, i want characters with whom go along as friends!...
I love gay wizards, I look forward to reading your works🤗
U forget to mention village which is also in magix
Techno magic support: Did you try casting Olferon’s Circle of Syncretism on your motherboard?
I heard the third season got cancelled cause everyone hates it
👏Gideon👏 the 👏ninth👏
You know would be cool? If Winx Club took a page from various Shounen anime
and have some sort of tournament arc in which the students of Alfea went head
to head against students from other fairy schools. I'm surprised that has never
happened, I mean there ARE more fairy schools out there. Plus schools that
compete against other schools is thing that occurs in real life.
I literally love this idea so fucking much
Hi, sorry I haven’t been back in a while, I honestly love the insight in your videos.
I would also love to follow and support you on Patreon, so excited for your books😊
Also #LGBTQIA Content Fan😊

6:20 IF ONLY RAINBOW REALIZED THIS...
I was here when it was 22 secs ago btw
I am frustrated that Cineribus still does not have a tvtropes page while _Shadow of the Conquerer_ (ugh) does.
5:09 "It's [science,] we don't have to explain it." jk
Where is the season 6 rewrite !?!??😅
I’ve been waiting since May for a new episode, I can wait a few months more. I’m just sad because Thomas doesn’t seem to be that much into it anymore :(
Can UoW create a Tales video??
Christ, I am WAYY too early. 3 minites ago😭?
like using RPG tropes this franchise
I kinda want you to talk about Naruto
just thought about but basically this 12:12 should've been sirenix this specific design should've been sirenix. but hey who cares about having intersting thing when you can just make money from an already mondially adored tv show " for kids "
4:05 damn you're painfully American
The trash world of Eraklyon 💀😂😂😂
Not a fan of the cussing as expression in this video tbh
Such an interesting world they built. And then we got Fate and they gave us… Ireland 🥲
