I have the Wasp filter as well, and intend to eventually do a video on it as well. Plus videos in their A-101-1 vactrol/Steiner filter, A-108 8-pole transistor filter, and A-106-1 Xtreme Filter. (Videos on their A-106-5 SEM filter and A-127 Triple Resonant filter are already part of my Eurorack Expansion course: learningmodular.com/register/learning-modular-synthesis-eurorack-expansion/)
Great overview. The Doepfer filters often get overlooked. Another really interesting one is the A-106-1 Xtreme Filter which is intended as a crude approximation of the Korg MS-20 filters. Very unique and somewhat experimental. It offers extensive control over tone using both positive and negative clipping as well as polarity of the HP in relation to LP in the mix. It excels at chirpy, tortured sounds! I love it. I should also point out it is the only filter I've seen that allows external processing of the resonance loop. Like a delay feedback loop you can process through other effects, VCAs, etc. Something I like to do is mix it with an additional VCO before feeding back in, or gating then through a delay. So many possibilities. www.doepfer.de/A106.htm
I have an A-106-1, and intend to do videos for it one day. After having owned an original MS-20, I have to admit it does not have one of my favorite filters, but I got an A-106-1 to explore its tricks like asymmetrical clipping.
I hear you on that. I have a couple original MS-20s myself. A-106-1 is most definitely not an actual MS-20 clone, but it sure is interesting. Not a filter for all situations. I love the limitations. And the control over clipping really makes it worth owning.
i absolutely love this filter as well as the wasp one

I love my Doepfer Wasp filter and this one is next on my list. Depeche used the Xpander a lot and I love the sound.
