The rev hang has to do with the throttle body being an electronic one instead of the older style cable of yesteryear. Maybe a tune could help a bit but definitely not doing this lol.
So heres what I found out in my battle with rev hang. 07 Hawkeye. Aka how not to fix your rev hang. This fix: sadly nothing cleaning and adding grounds: nothing cleaned maf: nothing spark plugs: improved fuel economy by 5-10% (the old ones looked just fine) disconnected top clutch sensor (in case the cars have some kind of "hold revs when clutch in"): nothing not even a check engine light. I have no idea why its even there in a car without cruise control. checked the throttle body to make sure it goes 0-100% as it should and cleaned it: nothing disassembled all the rubber/plastic parts of the intake to check for leaks or anything else out of the ordinary: nothing and lastly purely for fun, I cut off the rear muffler and v-banded an HKS cannon exhaust in its place which obviously didnt fix anything. However now that I can clearly hear the engine. Its so much easier to shift smoothly because at least I can hear when I should shift. So the non-fix actually helped the most.
If you have an electronic throttle body, it'll hold the Rev to burn off excess fuel for emissions. Check out engineering explained he explains it really well.
Won’t this come back eventually since the OEM ECU tune is biased for decent MPGs? Rev hang in lower gears supposedly helps improve MPGs and shifting, in higher gears it’s just annoying. A lot of manufactures do this including Honda.
Jesse James it hasn't come back so far. I believe this rev hang occured when I reinstalled the motor after a clutch change. it's still going without any issues.
WADAT im serious. When you put the negative back on the terminal after taking out the fuse plugs for the reset, did you put the fuse plugs back in to get power to the accessories
I have a 2020 Honda Civic Si Coupe that had this issue bad. Drove me bonkers. I got a Hondata FlashPro for the car and disabled the rev hang with the Hondata. Car drives so much better with the rev hang disabled. Car did not drive the best with the rev hang on. Made it look like I had no idea how to drive the goddamn car. I am seriously considering writing a long complaint to Honda because of it. I was almost to the point I was gonna trade the car in because of it. Made me hate the car.
You do realize that this didn't fix the rev hang .. it just made it not where near as bad ... if it was solved it would abruptly dip when you lift off.. this still smoothly and sluggishly reduces in rpm
@@WADATMEDIA I Think you misunderstood my post. 1) At the beginning you have and issue that you are trying to fix. 2) At the end of the video you have fixed the issue you are trying to fix. Great news and I agree that you have fixed what you were trying to fix. You have fixed something that was out of factory spec and returned it to how it was meant to be. Great news again. If you're happy with this then great, and if i was going from "1" to "2" it would have made me greatly happy too. # At this point there is nothing to fix as the car is operating how the manufactures intended. 3) However.. at the end of the video the NORMAL amount of rev hang implemented by the car manufactures and slow controlled rpm decent is still present. This can be seen by the 1+ ish seconds of rpm still stilling at it's peak before starting it's decent.. Then the descent is still VERY slow. When attempting to change gears up AS FAST AS POSSIBLE at high rpm you'll be able to change gears with no tangle reduction in engine between the two gears.(Bad) This is nothing new to cars my 2000 Ford was like this. Since this is "Normal" "3" can only be fixed my modifications to the Car ... To remove this REV down sluggishness on my Ford i had to modify my car and i loved it after that... However since 2000 cars have become more complicated and thus trying to change the rev down response has also got more complicated.. This is how i found your video... but i was hoping to find something that improves on the manufactures spec "2-3" But that was not the purpose of this video, which is fine.
If this works for my 07 Impreza I owe you a beer. The rev hang is driving me nuts. Makes me look/feel like I´ve never driven a manual.
Did it work? I have an 07 WRX with crazy rev hang from 1 to 2. and slight rev hang from 2 to 3. I have a Cobb tune on it too and it still does it.
@@SilverHunterIsHunted im curious to know as well
@@WADATMEDIA I am sorry to report that it made no difference.
Sorry to hear that. I have disconnected my battery to do an oil pan reseal so I'll try this method again when everything is back together.
@@WADATMEDIA I went Stage 2 after a downpipe install and it got rid of most of the rev hang.
Thought it had to do with injection type.i have a 20 wrx and the rev hang is preposterous.
I have a 2012 sedan i imagine theres no difference?
I'm trying it on my evo
Connor N let us know if it works

It has nothing to do with fly by wire. Tons of cars are fly by wire. It’s programmed into the ecu. You can have a tuner remove it.
turn the key to ON or ACC after the 30 minutes ?? Does it matter which mode ??
Pilot Swagg yeah it does in my case.

Did you reconnect all the power. Or do you have to drive a shell of a car for it to stay that way?
MaLaInSaY I'm not sure if you're serious or not. the video is self explanatory you either try or dont.

I replaced the fuse after everything was re-calibrated.

It's part of the emissions reduction and programmed in the ECU
Will a week /dead battery cause this
