these comments are getting a little out of hand so let me address some things: 1. I did use a lot of my money to donate food/items to the food bank and plan to use what is left at the end to do the same 2. my friends are very nice and I don’t think watching a 10 minute video can depict someone’s entire personality 3. I have to have a college meal plan for my freshman year, so although it’s stupid, I’m just following the rules 4. yeah I’m cringe have you watched any of my videos lol
I would spend it all at the campus grocery store on non-perishable food items and just stock up for next semester when you hopefully won't have to use a meal plan.
Elise Li no, I just meant the same way she used it in this video at the campus grocery store, you know the part of the video where they bought all those boxes of cereal and stuff
In my Starbucks in the student union we could use dinning dollars to buy “things” like cups, mugs, whatever. So I literally spent my last 200 dollars on bags of coffee.
When I was at school I had over 400 points left I would buy everyone’s sandwich on my line and have them pick out chips and shit too just to use it up😂😂
My university’s meal plan worked the same way, though if you didn’t spend your entire meal plan by the end of the year, it gets paid towards your fees/tuition for next semester, minus $5 for processing.
So is that good or not? Can you explain because i am currently wanting to go to a college soon i think 2 years because i am going to skip a grade this year so i will be in the 11th grade i think.. unless im taking advanced classes so plz help me
My college has meal plans with meals and dining dollars. When we went to the dining hall we would use a meal but we could go to other spots on campus and use dining dollars. If we had extra meals at the end of the quarter the campus let's us swipe in community members in need
I'm surprised Penn State doesn't allow you to donate your leftover money! My university gives us flex dollars with our meal plan (meal swipes are worth $5.30 and if you go over that you pay the rest in flex) and if you have any leftover flex by the end of the school year you can donate it to local charity!
My school uses meal swipes, and there's a club that, at the end of the semester, organized students to get sandwiches from campus using the rest of their meal swipes and donates them to a local homeless shelter
i would say just spend somewhat excessively buying for your friends for the next two weeks and then a couple days before you leave just spend a lot at the market/grocery store and donate all of it
Why don't you go Back to the grocery store on campus and just buy a lot of snacks and stuff you would buy next semester anyway? Then just keep it & move it with you.. this way you won't waste the meal plan money...
Alexa she’s saying to purchase non perishable foods she’d buy in the future anyway and save them. She didn’t say anything about saving the money for the next semester.
Can I just say that like you seem so much more happier and socialish. Like I think changing dorms was literally the best thing ever. I’m so happy that you moved and now you have people around you that are littttt 💛💛💛
26744 with no videos it’s different for every school but for mine, you had to get a certain meal plan based on where you lived and what year you were. Most of the time it’s either by semester or by school year. My first semester I had the second highest and didn’t even use all of my swipes.
I legit still have $300 left on my meal plan and don’t know how I’m going to spend all of it in the whole 19 days of school left. It’s actually a struggle
At my school meal swipe are separated from your dinning dollars. The dinning dollars or even meal swipe(but you have to get a specific thing if you’re using a meal swipe) you can spend at restaurants in our college such as chick Fil a , Panda Express , subway , Starbucks , Panera , Moes etc. But your meal swipe you can use it at the dinning hall which is like a buffet with different food and you just swipe when you enter. The dinning dollars are for places like restaurants or the grocery store or you even purchase some items like Starbucks cups or other little things.
Honestly, if I was at Penn State, I'd probably blow all my money on ice cream and end the year broke and with diabetes. It was the highlight of my visit there when I was touring colleges At my school, you see people with meal plans coming to the student center food court and dining halls with hand trucks and literally buying as many sodas, chips, and mini boxes of cereal as they can carry to get through all their points. It's also a good time for those of us without a plan to score free meals, bc the dining workers aren't paid enough to care whose name is on the card they swipe
my college has meal swipes, there’s 5, 10, 15, unlimited meal plans where each of the numbers listed is per semester. i like meal swipes better than dining dollars
your food is cheap there! One meal at my college is like 5 or 6 dollars. but we don't get money amounts we get a certain amount of meals. The main one is the 21 a week plan. Meals don't carry over but you can spend a meal at our university store that has anything from toothpaste to sushi
Syd I just found your channel b/c it was on my recommended and just want to say I love your content! It is literally so real and down to earth. My roommate also had the same issue but then we spent about your total amount in a day and she still had MORE leftover. Keep doing what you do Gorl.
At my college, you're given actual meal POINTS called meal swipes. Not Dollar amounts. So some stuff you buy on campus cost dollars, and some stuff you use meal swipes (from your uni card). This makes it REALLY hard to run out. Because the only places that take meal swipes are the cafeterias and 2 cafes. There is a place called Outtakes where you can exchange meal swipes for groceries but you just end up with so much of the same stuff (not a big variety of groceries available). Most people signed up for the recommended 17 swipes a week plan, which means if you eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day you'd need to find 4 meals on your own. Thing is, most people dont eat breakfast, so you'd end up with 3 extra swipes per week, and not everyone eats at places that take swipes every meal, becasue that'd be boring. I dropped down to 12 swipes a week and I'm still struggling to finish them all.
That happened to me too, not to that extreme, for my campus it's called Flex Dollars and I chose the cheapest mealplan but I worked so much and didn't eat that much outside of the cafeterias (and you can really only use flex dollars with your ID on restaurants and stuff on campus so you couldn't use it at other actual establishments in replacement of real money) so I had like $60 in flex left so I would try to pay for peoples meals, buy snacks to bring home, give some snacks to my friends anything to get rid of it before the semester ended because they don't roll over to the next semester
oh SISSSSS. at my school if you live on campus, we only get 2 options for a meal plan (while commuters get like 50 diff options) AND THEYRE BOTH THE SAME PRICE LIKE THERES NO DIFFERENCE. we only get $50 per semester but that's because the meal plan is mostly for the dinning hall while the $50 is for anything thats no the dinning hall LMAO
My meal plan at school is crazy. I got the basic one so I have 10 meals at an all-you-can-eat buffet-style cafeteria per weak, then I have like $100 in "Campus Cash" (which will basically pay for the Starbucks on campus and Burger King and a couple other restaurants we have plus the commons).
My university lets you eat for free (breakfast and dinner only) if you live in certain accomodations. Only exception is that you only get 1 main course, but they let you get unlimited sides and dessert.
One of my friends transferred for the spring semester and still had a lot that she needed to spend. At my university, you can buy other things than just food. She bought Starbucks cups and mugs for gifts with the remaining money!
Hey sydney love your videos so much and I know you have experience in the quad housing (I’m starting at Penn State this summer)! Would you recommend quad/triple over doubles? More space, common area, better bathrooms or not really?
This happens all the time to students everywhere, at my school and to me too. Don't sweat lol.... every time at the end of the semester, my dining hall gets completely bought out faster than they can restock so they always have nothing at the end of my semester
My university has a plan where you can donate left over meal plan funds to kids in need. So the university will give the money to people who maybe can’t afford a middle or top level plan or who need help with funds you can always check and see if your school has a similar plan.
Meal plans tend to only be meant for freshmen and others in student housing. You could sell swipes in that people give you cash for the swipe so you're exchanging it for dollar value. My school's academic quarter is ending soon so people are advertising their swipes everywhere lol
im in this predicament too. i have like 400-500$ left of my meal plan and 3 weeks of school. its a struggle to spend it all :’) im trying to buy food for all my friends now
What some people do with their extra money from their meal plan is buy a LOT of ice cream from the creamery and bring it home with them. They give you dry ice and ice packs so the ice cream stays cold and doesn’t melt before you get home.
The uni I go to is the same but we can by bulk ingredients like palettes of canned drinks, boxes of snacks and industrial tins of instant coffee. I sent £110 in one go by buying 24 × 750ml bottles of water and a bag of 1100 tea bags and I still have money left that i have to spend before June 1st 🙃
At my school we had to pay 2000 a semester for a meal ticket, but could only use it at the cafeteria at certain times a day, and then once a day at the dinning hall, which meant that if we missed a meal we couldn’t make it up or use it on anyone else, and whatever money was left over literally just went to waste 😒
I'm actually glad that my meal plan can let me go to the dining hall like forever. I don't need to pay for anything because I already paid so much for the meal plan itself. The only time I actually lose flex/dining dollars are for restaurants inside the campus. But other than that, I just swipe my card going into the dining hall, and it's free, no limits.

ShutUpAeryn :))))))))
Sounds like she has to have a meal plan
I think she said the money doesn't transfer to next semester or something?? and maybe her meal plan money cant be used on things other than food.

That's what the freshmen at my school do. They make signs saying free meal swipes, and then let you use their student ID in exchange for holding yours
When I was at school I had over 400 points left I would buy everyone’s sandwich on my line and have them pick out chips and shit too just to use it up😂😂
