but doesn't the writing ability of the author do just that? A liar who is good at fabricating a story is going to succeed more than a liar who is bad at it. If the writing of a story is not very good at conveying a sense of truthfulness i.e. being more descriptive in things like setting, characters or people involved in this case, then it can't just be assumed that the writer is just not good at retelling past information. And i wouldn't use the word liability in this case i think validity would better suit unless you mean a story's liability to be true i guess. Just some thoughts from your neighborhood grammar nazi.
I got the exact same vibe. The descriptions felt off and oddly set-up. Also the fact that they kept saying "mommy" and "daddy" seemed weird too. I've never heard anyone refer to their parents as such when recounting a story unless they were very young. Also, isn't "daddy" a little too endearing to describe someone who is a supposed killer of some sort? Just seems off to me. :/

The Sanitarium you can fit a mattress in the back of the van, convenient trunk space, you can carry shovels, rope, etc all the essentials and there's enough room in the trunk of a van that it isn't easy to make ruckus..

It implies that the father killed somebody, but it sounds certainly fake. The writing style, the cliches and how it just abruptly ends the story with no confirmation of a trial or what actually happens is a dead giveaway

parents from a certain era were particularly stupid. I remember when I was a kid and an older boy was continually bothering me, like stalking me. I was by myself at the time was very small. my parents were off doing their own thing not far away. I became afraid of the boy after a while so I locked my self in the car. long story short the car got locked frm the inside with the keys. I got in a lot of trouble. I told my mom about the boy and that is why I locked the door. she didn't even believe me. that's when I learned that my parents were not someone I could rely on for help. still think they are a bit delusional to this day.
A person started working at my work. I showed him what to do and talked to him about stuff. I left a couple weeks later then when i was reading the news paper there was a picture of him saying that he killed 3 people. One of the people he killed he lead them to a field and stab him after a night out. thank god I left that job. (relevance to the last story)
