- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 25 มิ.ย. 2013
- Small block Chev V8 on the dyno in naturally aspirated and turbocharged form. Built by KANARIS Engines, the 380-cubic inch motor features much required strong internals, a Garrett GT47/88 turbo, custom water intercooler and blow through C&S Specialties carb on pump unleaded fuel. The engine will be going into a Holden HQ 4-door street car. [ www.kanarisengines.com ]

I love how much you Aussies dig V-8's.
People will say that the turbo is responsible for the added power, but we all know that it was the addition of the cool valve covers. BTW, that BEAST sounds BADASSSSS!!!!!!!
thats amazing you simply switch between two setups and see it at work.
love it how add 8 psi and boom 1000+ hp
Looks very similar to my forged 383 setup except im using a gen 3 ecu and a gt47 /80mm turbo. 0 lag. Its amazing how advanced the design of the original 55 sbc block was.
Mark Rich I have a few questions for you
Got to love the amounts of torque turbos make.
Let me see a civic do that ---EDIT: 5 Years later. Although a 4 cyl or 6 cyl will never sound as good as a v8, IMO. The modern technology is amazing, allowing them to make crazy power, big fan of BoostedBoiz and what they do. Honda's are truly amazing and reliable, hence why I drive one everyday. No disrespect intended for anyone's build.
Not to be that guy but there is a 2200hp v8 swapped civic on youtube, I'm pretty sure its a drag car lol
Idontmakemanyvideos
i think he was referring to the fact that civics are 4 cylinder cars
Them civic av good strong engines when built right. They use a K20 vtec engine. Easily pulls a 1000 hp
Chris Keys That can be said about any car, its no cheaper or dearer to make a supra, skyline or any other car pushing a 1000 hp than a k20, its all down to how much money u want to spend getting there with good reliable parts.
f
that is awesome..check out the couplers swell when it builds boost.
wow that's col
holy shit just noticed that!
Awesome video thanks. I work for C and S. We really aprreciatte such an awesome video. keep up the great work
badass!!!! exactly what i wanted to see bc im building close to same engine for my 76 camaro. That was awesome guys
That is so cool to see the transformation and actually see what a difference forced induction can do
600hp more just by bolting on a hair dryer. that's amazing.
And a cam change, timing pulled back, and over $1000.00 blow thru carb.
meh. with a modern LS, 9k ( engine , 7k, 2k for a good turbo) for over 1000hp is pretty good.
Engine 7k? Junk yard an older LS for $500 and be happy. 1000 HP? No, but 700 is achieveable.
u call that turbo a hair dryer? LOL!!!!
It's Amazing what a Single Turbo can do. I been a Fan of Turbochargers for Years, since the Mid 80,s before they were efficient as they are Nowadays. It's Amazing how Technology Developed throughout the years. My First Turbo Car was a 1986 Dodge Daytona, had a Few of Those, also a Few Thunder Bird Turbo Coupes. I plan on putting a Big Single Turbo on my Low 9 Second 86 Mustang, Currently has a 521 Stroked BBF with a 4150 Holley Carb, with 275/60 Drag Radials, and Yes I'm Old School, gonna try a Blow Through Carb Set Up. My Buddy went Very Low 8,s with a Blow Through SBC with a F-2 Procharger in a 3800 LB Tank. I'm just a Turbo Guy. Even my 6.0 Powerstroke got an Upgraded Turbo and injectors and it's an absolute Beast when that Boost starts coming on.
outstanding...makes my little v6 buick with 600 feel weak...cant imagine 1000 on the street....its all i can do to keep my car in its own lane even with a new m/t dr.
You guys can go ahead and put that in my s10 now....
Makes all that power with only 18 lbs of boost... that is awesome
TheDragonoxx 6*
Colts C10 's 18 watch the end
Effectively pushing more than twice it's displacement and making almost twice the power.
Sick piece#
Ready for the Nyris circuit 😁😁
Tuff!!!! Amazing power
great video. proves a good point. boost is awesome.
i love this engine
Chevy V8 + Turbo =
Awesome!
Wow impressive is there anymore info on the engine itself!!!!
did it actually fit in the HQ the same as it was on the dyno or did you have to change the plumbing ? btw awesome motor !
Are you using some electronic system, or is it something else, just bolt on whitout the electronic?
At the end of the video it says pump gas..at the end of each run it says "100-octane united unleaded" you got 100 octane at the pump?
What was your Bsfc at 6250 @ 18psi ? Im going to guess about 11.8 A/F ratio.
did u have to modyfy anything on carb? for the vent for float
Nice build. Tuff motor.
I would name this boosted engine in remembrance of my brotha! *The NightRider*
Did anybody else smile a bit every time the turbo went pff
Was that on a stock motor and bolt on turbo or is that a built motor and bolt on turbo? I'm thinking of doin this to my small block 400 it has a mild cam but thats it
The engine is build yes.
Hello I would like to start this project but my question is if you could acer a block chevrolet.
Well fuck me sideways, that badboy was jumping over 200 horses on first pull with turbo, then another 200 and another. Thats a sweet setup guys. What was the turbo kit you added? Looked like alot of inhouse fabs there. Nice job.
Hello,
i need some help. I wanna build an 800-900+ Hp 380 ci destroker like in the video but with a procharger. Which Procharger should i use and what for crankshaft, cam and pistons? can i use a very nasty cam? How much compression should it have to take the boost without problems? it should be driveable on the street but i like big cams and a nasty idle. I only wanna drive it on pump gas, no e85 or smth else. Sorry for my bad english im from germany.
Thank you for your help
Venom use two big 100 mm turbos
what cam duration is this running?
Can anyone help me find a video or forum that would show me how to pick the best turbo or explain what to look for in a turbo for a V8 LS engine? I'm open to single or twin setups.
That is far from pump unleaded. The 100 octane is like 9 bucks a gallon.
Rod Palm 100-ron fuel is similar to 94-AKI octane. It is pump fuel in Australia, well under $2 per litre. However since this video was made , many gas stations have dropped 100-unleaded in favour of E85 pumps.
+Rod Palm here in Philippines 100 octane is readily available at around 4 bucks a gallon
Petron Blaze is about the best pump fuel I can find here in the PI
0:51 there's some hesitation there. I hate waiting for response. Any way to fix that?
better use smaller turbo . maybe good for racing , but is no use to get boost just when about to shift in driving just for pleasure . psi depends variable geometry ?
Now all I need is this for my Kia and I’m moving I’m set no more struggling for torque from a stop light 😂😂
i dig the general motors hell license plate
Electric throttle pressurized carb?
where can I get this turbo kit for my 383 stroker?
The car went 10.0 @ 152mph first time out using this engine.
Fullboost what's this motor cost? Can we buy it as a package set up?
@Tyler Amburg Yes
How much boost could it take before a catastrophic failure of the internals? Could it get to 50psi like the Nissan RB30 in the related videos I can see.
+KiwiPowerNZ god no
psi is a measurement of resistance in the intake. its not the same turbo to turbo, or engine to engine. bigger turbos make more power with less boost.
What compression is this?
where can I find this turbo kit?
Where can I get one of these setups
What are the specs for your cam?
Cool power
Is this a Chev block or an aftermarket dart block? If it's a chev block which casting number 511 4 bolt, 509 or 817 2 bolt? I'm building a 511 block based 400 at the moment. I cant imagine any of the stock blocks holding up to those numbers for long.
Dart Little M Block...it's going to hold up just fine :)
Troy D Nice.
Mad Max wants to buy your engine!
Good,Good, I like.
Quick question is there a major flatspot at this point in the video you see the throttle open up WIDE and it seems to take 1.5 - 2 seconds before it actually picks up .
th-cam.com/video/HjApe2C8_h4/w-d-xo.html seems to have same flat spot post turbo too .
they do this on all dynos its to let the motor stabalize all its parameters instead of just "hammering it"
ahh cool learn something new everyday ! lol thx for reply Awesome Engine !
whats the price tag on that setup? badass work
Probably 15 or so.
Got one of those for my mud truck?
what is the Turbine Wheel Exducer Size ?
I know plenty of small blocks making over 800 hp normally aspirated. Granted, you can only do so much normally aspirated it's still more fun busting turbo cars with a old carburetor lol
Can't say I have much experience with forced induction through the *top* of a carb (other than stock Studebaker and Ford applications). Must be quite different internally to work with that much boost.
I have a question . is it possible to put a v8 turbo engine in a BMW E36 1999?
+Francisco Sarabia Anything is possible if you have time and money, probably wont be a drop in, be a lot of work, im doing a carbed 350 in an 02 s10 xtreme, bored .060 over, aluminum heads, cam, and high rise single plane intake, with a 700r4 tranny
That is insane
Who sells that kit?
What turbo charger should i put to my kia rio sedan 2013 :D pls REPLY!!
+Sesante Christian The one thats on the turbo diesel bulldoser while your Kia is at the rubbish tip getting crushed!
Can I fit this in a 08 Cadillac STS
I like the idea of bolting on a turbo but my stroker 383 has 11:1 compression ratio I was told not to do it
i would not suggest that. too much compression.
Yes, correct.
Please tell me name song ?
โหดเกิน
NA engine sounds amazing at idle
What a monster
does anybody know the tune in the background music?
Hard ♥️
Man could have added one pound of boost and ended my entire career bro 😂😂
Wanna turn up an LS?! just add 1 fucking pound of boost and feel alive 😂
Do u guys sale that turbo set up?
I'd like to know too I need one for a 383 sbc I have I'm making 570 hp on a vortech supercharger and want a turbo
I love the game i gotta remember the numberplates to never take them on :P
dope...
so angry when the boost kicks in.
I can believe these guy because the peak stayed at the same rpm. Some channel like Engine Master. They change intake and the peak will go up 700rpm.
niceeeeee :DD
What compression ratio is this motor runnin?
+Jason Peterson
I was thinking the same thing. Little more info on the engine would be great.
+Jason Peterson CP forged pistons 8,6:1 you can read the list of components at 0:13 ;)
Need more
Muito foda !
fuck that hits boost savagely
Whats the music
Kind of scary seeing those rubber hoses bulging like that . I've got silicone hoses from a ford semi truck that will take 60 psi on my jet engine and don't seem to see any deformation at 20+ psi and probably 90 deg c temps .
TheRealestEver the rubber coupler before the intercooler. Look at it when it builds boost
marpip01 kind of scary seeing a dart block on anything that makes power
Are questioning the dyno numbers? The car has already gone into the 10s using a 25 year old stock 350 engine so the only thing holding it back will be traction.
Can anyone recommend the parts I'd need for this build ? Forged Pistons and such ? Gotten a lot of different advice from different people about turbo builds and stuff
I would just do all forged internals to be safe. Forged crank, rods, & pistons. And a full roller set. That's what I want anyway.
+DemocracyOfHypocrisy think I could just get a stock block and build it up ? Or you think maybe an aluminum block ?
+Joey Sosa
The only reason to get an aluminum block is if you want to save weight. Most blocks are cast iron which is fine. The materials used in the internals are more important. There's a few ways you can start with a block. You can take an old block if you have one and send if off to a machine shop to get it bored etc so its ready to build. Or you can order one online already machined & painted ready to go. Either way, a factory block that has been machined is all you need.
+Joey Sosa Joey, in the U.S. go to Steve Morris Racing. He does a big business in turbo drag racing and Street Strip motors. He knows his shit!
+Steve Solo thanks man I'll check it out !
Wish we had 100 octane pump gas here in the states
holy shit...I can't even talk now....lol..
Ya just did. Lol
Turbo Time
who's ready to rip through the wasteland in a turbocharged v8?
wulf arrow dude it’s 2020 the wasteland is here... blm and commies
@@workingclass6750 dude, you have no idea what communism is.
@wolf that sounds freaking mint
2JZ RB30 the best!!!
So why no 87 octane runs?
87 would cause detonation and could kill the motor!
Exactly!
imagine nascar with turbos :)
Sooo bad ass ..with the rite traction..and wheelie bar..this thing would laugh at ANY stock crotch rocket
And for only 20x the cost!
Nautical1994 And 50x the "cool factor" of said "crotch rocket".
Nautical1994 On 100 octane, which is....readily available and all gas stations!!!!
mminc81 100 RON is a similar octane rating as US spec 94 AKI pump unleaded.
Fullboost REALLY??? I stand corrected. :)
Definitely a nice set up, but the N/A version was not given a chance to shine. 8.6:1 compression is not going to put up big numbers. I'd say if it were 11:1 the numbers N/A would have been between 550 - 600 hp.
J King yeah you're right it would have made more with more compression but with forced induction like turbos or superchargers, if you go over 9:1 compression you'll end up with detonation.. detonation = no bueno.
delete
Damian Chandler I understand that, which I why I said the test was not fair, and should have been done with another set of identical heads, milled down for higher compression. So two separate tests, otherwise the comparison is worthless and misleading.
I like
Holy Shit!
It's a bummer is carborated lol
